I was so impressed with the quick reply. Then I cancelled the other requests that I had to other movers, told easy around moving and delivery that I had booked the elevator and they told me they would have to get back to me and let me know if they could make that time then told me a few hours later that they couldn't help me that day at all but could help me the day before and blamed the miscommunication on me even though I had the history of the messages on my phone terrible customer service. don't bother. ----- If you post a review that they don't like, prepare to get a backlash of messages in your inbox. [Quick and Easy] Moving isn't something I do often - at least not for myself. When I was younger, I'd conscript a few friends and stuff a car beyond it's reasonable limits to save a few bucks. Ever cram a queen sized mattress into an Accord? I have. Anyways, time was of the essence for me to move out of my 2-bedroom apartment so I contacted these guys based on the Yelp reviews. Manel replied promptly and after I made my $100 deposit, we were off to the races. Moving day came and the two movers showed up with a massive truck. I'm guessing it was a 5 ton but I'm no expert but could've easily fit 3 times the contents of my condo. I guess they've probably helped a few hoarders with a move. The two guys (Jesse and I don't remember the other's name) ran 15 minutes late but called ahead to let me know. Once they got to work however, they were unstoppable. In just over an hour, they had my entire apartment in the back of the truck. (I also had packed and moved some of the smaller items already) Unloading at my new destination took a little longer due to a narrow entryway but they still navigated it like rockstars - and without any scratches. In total, the move took 4 hours. Their rate including the truck was $100/hr plus $100 delivery fee plus tax. I figure that's decent value. If I had to rent a truck and coerce some friends, it'd have taken me 3 times longer and I'd probably have to buy them dinner. read more

Amazing movers, the best experience I've ever had. The guys were 20 minutes late, but they called to let me know. I had two movers come into the apartment and get to work straight away. They were immediately moving things to the elevator and had a good system in place. I stayed out of their way the entire time. After loading 1 bedroom we made a quick pitstop to grab a bed, bookcase, and dresser from a second location a few blocks away. There was no problem doing so, I just let them know ahead of time. Off to the new apartment and they were quickly back at unloading all of the furniture and boxes. No time to rest, working hard the whole time. I have a big screen tv and they neatly used foam and carpets to transport this as well as bungees and ties in the truck. I was quoted around 6 hours for the entire move at $85/hr. The move took us 4 hours instead, wooooooo! WINNING! Here's a big SECRET: I am a packing ninja. Huge TIP: I used Bungobox and ordered a 2 bedroom set of boxes and put everything in them (lamps, clothing, books, kitchen) so it was so much easier for the movers. They deliver and pickup the boxes plus its not tossing away cardboard. I highly recommend. Oh, did I mention I was their last move of the day and they were still full of energy?! It helps to slip the young movers a few beers to take with them after a long day. :) read more

I found them on Yelp and decided to give it a try, as the movers recommended by my friends were fully booked for the weekend I needed. The two movers were really slow. It took about 3 hours to empty a 450sf studio. Then they took a good 5-10 minutes sitting in the truck on the alley, while they thought I have drove to my new home -- but I was in my car just behind them thinking WTF they are waiting to start driving. Once they finally leave, I drive behind them and see them stopping at the gas station to get Tom bits! Shouldn't they have breakfast before they start working? I spoke to them at the gas station to kinda rush things. They acted as if this is all very normal. I drive to my place and wait another 10 minutes until they get there. I wonder what the hell they were doing that took so long to get there. Maybe they were finishing the Tim bits. When we arrived I only had the elevator booked for another 30 minutes (I didn't expect to take 3 hours to empty an studio apartment), so they finally started being efficient and moving things faster. At the end, they wanted us to pay for all the time wasted, something ridiculous. My bf had to deal with Manel on the phone because we didn't agree with the rate being charged. The movers said they were told to waste time, so they didn't care. This was the worst moving experience I ever had. Decent. Available on short notice; Manel was a good communicator. Movers were late starting by about 45 minutes, but were extremely kind and friendly, a pleasant surprise. However, I was doing a move that had been done several times in the past couple of years, and never took more than two hours. These movers operated at a glacial pace and appeared to move things with no strategy, seeming to want to stretch out their hours. Manel and I talked about a two-hour move, with the possibility of a little overage. The move ended up taking almost four hours and costing double what was quoted. I needed a bookcase delivered a short distance, Manel gave me the best price out of all the top-rated moving companies on this site, and so I hired him. On the day of, all was going smoothly: He showed up on time, the thing went easily enough into the truck and he met me a short time later at my place. Well, the furniture seemed to have grown since I last saw it and it wouldn't fit in the elevator or up the stairs. Although on a tight schedule, he showed an unwillingness to damage the shelf or the building and patience as he set about dismantling the awkward (but beautiful) unit and got the stuff up to my place. He even set about putting most of it back together, before I told him that he should go. He offered to leave his tools, as I had not a one, and get them back later. I recently used his company for a second job, and again, very professional work and I didn't have to worry about any foot-dragging or careless work and I plan on using him for future moving jobs. Also, fellow single women should note that Manel totally does NOT give off any creepy vibe and you don't have to worry about being by yourself with him. ***Important: Manel needs to be one of the guys actually moving the stuff. read more

I think the movers had good intentions and tried hard, but it was disappointing. Manel brought 2 movers. They were well-intentioned, great people. I really like them because they were friendly and very nice. Very courteous, friendly, But they clearly lacked experience!! Which is the reason why the move was very slow! I think Manel evidently has a lot more experience, but he was in the truck the whole time and had the 2 people he hired do the actual moving. These 2 movers are younger and it's clear they dont' have as much experience as movers who have been moving for over a decade and I can see the difference. One of the movers, I later found it, is actually a young guy who just moved to Canada 3 months ago here on a working holiday visa, so he couldn't have been moving professionally for long. I usually use Tranquility Movers who are very experienced. This is what they do for a living. They've been doing this for years. They are super fast. They know how to strategize and don't need to waste time discussing. They've built a good working dynamic with their partner over the years and know how to manoeuvre around corners with big furniture or fragile pieces. They are super careful and know how to handle everything properly. They actually move everything so fast while being meticulous that I was shocked the first time I hired them. The two young movers that Manel hired are, like I said, well-intentioned and tried their best. They worked very hard and were really great people. But nothing can replace experience. They were slow for a few reasons: -They would come back into the room and look around, not sure where to continue next. -When they do figure it out, they were tentative with positioning things, moving things, etc. -Sometimes when I see the way they position items on the dolly or trolley it makes me cringe, because it just looks like it's bad positioning, things would be prone to falling off, falling out etc. Things didn't fall, but they had to move a lot more slowly because of they need to keep maintaining the balance, fidget to make things work better. -I had to remind them a few times to use a door stopper because without it, it slows down the process, which I figured is a basic knowledge for moving. After we got to the new place, our door into the new unit never got a door stopper. With a few fragile items (my husband has an electronic table), even though we reminded them a few times to wrap it with a blanket, they never did it. They HAD blankets. The blankets were sitting around at the jacket closet at the entrance, but just never got used. I don't think they meant for that to happen, it's just the lack of experience. The move out process was MUCH MUCH slower than I anticipated. Our things were extremely organized. I hired 4 packing helpers to help me pack and everything was properly packed up 2 days before our move. On the day of the move, we asked the 4 packing helpers to come help us unpack. The move was SO SLOW that by the time the packing helpers arrived, Easy Around Moving was still trying to move everything out. So I ended up having these 4 people help with both the move out and the move in. The move (from a 2 br + basement storage to a 3 br) turned out to be around 6 hours. My husband said, "I've never worked so hard for a move" because he was literally running around with boxes in his hands to help speed up the moving process. My husband also said that it was because he was running around that made the 2 movers feel like they need to move faster, because a lot of time they were just walking slowly while my husband was running by them with boxes in his arms. And after a while they finally caught on and started moving faster. But we shouldn't need to bust our ass to "inspire" the movers to work efficiently!! In the end, our 2 bedroom move took 6 hours with the following people involved: -2 movers Manel brought. -We used 5 of our own people that we paid separately (we hired 4 packing/unpacking helpers and a handyman--all of them ended up helping us with the actual move because it was SO SLOW) -My husband. The 2 bedroom move took a total of 8 people...EIGHT PEOPLE 6 hours to get done!!!!! Like I said, I don't think they are bad. They are good people who were trying their best, but the movers we got that day are just inexperienced. read more

Competitively priced but I would have rather paid the movers I had previously at $120 since they moved everything in just over 1 hour while this recent move took 3 hrs! Not the fault of the movers themselves as they were young and obviously not very experienced. They were punctual. No assembly or disassembly, no concept of security with my things (I had to have a friend stay with the truck to watch my things), and in the end I was managing them and was helping them move at the same time. The owner actually told me that he doesn't move anything when I asked for his help to move a heavy piece of furniture. Ummm...... What?! It went well! The most positive thing I can say is about Manel himself: exceedingly courteous, polite, and gentle spoken -- he certainly can take the edge off moving day nerves with his calm and professional demeanour. We began a bit late, unavoidably, because the previous move involved someone who had not been accurate (honest?) about how many items he needed to have moved. #protip: always give a forthright account to your mover, when booking, as how much material you need to have moved. In our case, someone who had not been as such caused an annoying delay. My move involved a great number of boxes: recently engaged, my fiancee and I moved into a new place but, given Vancouver vampiric rents, we opted for a 1 bedroom and had to pare down our extremely large libraries. So, a storage unit was what we went with. Manel and his partner had the necessary gear to move our boxes very quickly. What most impressed me was Manel's tetris like talent for positioning my boxes in the storage space to maximise spatial usage. I was initially afraid that we would not be able to fit all of the items in there -- but some expert planning from Manel saved the day. On this talent alone, I award this company five stars. I hate moving. Hate it. I've lived on three different continents and moved house in 5 different countries. But Easy Around ranks as one of the friendliest and most cooperative companies I have ever worked with. Their nice guys. I decided to get a quote and more information from Easy Around because they had such good reviews on yelp. I tried contacting many other companies on craigslist and yelp and aside from one other (that gave me a ridiculous quote of $1200 to move a small apartment with 3 guys) Manel was the only one who got back to me. I had a lot of questions and was not sure exactly what day I was going to move, as we were moving out of one place early and into another as it was already vacant. Manel kept emailing me back to confirm they were available and check what size of truck we needed. Although he wasn't sure if a small truck would fit my 2 bedroom apartment it did, but we had run a lot of our boxes on our own via car to the new place. So if you have A LOT of boxes go with a bigger truck, if it's just a few boxes and furniture a small one might be ok for an apartment. It took longer than I thought it would to move out of the apartment just because we were at the end of the hall and had to deal with the elevator and getting everything down to the truck. Moving into our new house took much less time. Manel and Mike even offered to place furniture and boxes in specific locations where we wanted them, but we just wanted the furniture brought upstairs and we could arrange it ourselves. These guys worked very hard. They were very careful moving everything, nothing precious was broken including my flat screen or my large glass top patio table. I was worried but it was fine. They bring tools with them so if they need to disassemble something they can. Mike also reassembled our little table as I didn't have the allen keys handy to do it myself. So this was helpful as it was ready right away. I really appreciated that Manel was easy to deal with, sincere, reliable and got the job done without anything to worry about. I have heard horror stories from people finding movers on craigslist where there is fine print in a contract, being over charged, having a single guy show up with a van instead of truck etc. But thanks to Yelp I was pretty certain I wouldn't have any surprises with Easy Around and I was right. I really liked that he did not insist on having 3 people to move an apartment like some other companies did (1 to watch the truck etc.) as there was no need and no one was hanging around it anyway. I am hoping not to move for a while as I've moved almost every single year, but if I did I would definitely consider Easy Around because it was a great experience and affordable. P.S. Manel and his helper Adam were a tremendous help with our recent move. They managed to fit all our stuff into our rental truck which was arguably too small. While our friends carried the lighter stuff and Bungo boxes (http://www.bungobox.ca/), Easy Around handled the larger, heavier and more awkward items. This included our couch which may be the heaviest couch on the planet: it's like 50 years old and made of cast iron I think. Responsive, courteous, straight-forward, careful, productive. I was given the responsibility of helping my family arrange moves for awkward and heavy furniture on a tight schedule. Haven't had any experience doing this before so I wasn't too excited about the task. One piece was a fancy wooden dining set with four chairs and a large circular piece of glass that goes atop the table surface, and the other was an extremely delicate (yet hefty) mirror glass cabinet. I contacted Easy Around Moving and Manel responded within 12 hours. He was polite and quick to reply (which is so important for doing what he does, in my opinion). Things were a bit delayed but he notified me right away so it didn't turn out to be a problem at all. They were in and out quickly and politely. What I appreciated was how extremely careful they were of the fragile pieces. When my next-door neighbour moved in with his stuff, the moving company that he hired shattered his glass coffee table and damaged other things. It was a disaster. Manel and his partner take their time when they handle fragile stuff and everything was delivered in great condition. They also try their best to put things back together if they had to take it apart first for proper transportation. All in all, great people doing honest work at reasonable prices. Working with Manel and his team was incredibly easy (pardon the pun) and thank goodness too! It helped relieve a lot of stress I had with this move. I was up all night packing, in fact I was STILL packing up until the point they had arrived. They gladly picked up where I left off. For the price, I don't think you can get much more bang for your buck. Manel was very much in control of his staff and they moved fairly quickly and even wore foot guards in the new place where we had some very white and clean carpets. I will be moving again in 10 months and I won't hesitate to call up Manel and set up another appointment. I'm not sure what happened with M.G.'s move (1 Star review) where they describe a completely opposite experience that I had. Manel's team was able to manoeuvre a massive piece of sporting equipment that I normally would have taken apart, but they literally were able to manipulate it on the dime and get it through 2 doors, a narrow passageway and out the front door. Also, these local moving awards that companies are awarded aren't easily acquired. So if Georgia Straight or WE give them an award, regardless of the year, I'll listen. Excellent Moving Company! Manel and his crew were very very professional and treated the furniture as if it was their own. So basically they damaged my furniture and walls. One piece, an Asian style chest had 5 dings in it. A broken glass picture frame. My foyer walls were gouged and somehow the main feature wall in the livingroom, all just professionally painted. When I contacted Manel he basically said you are S.O.L. "You didn't purchase insurance". I didn't but, I also wasn't expecting to be on the hook for $200 in wall remediation. He gave me $20. No professionalism, no ethics. These guys were so great! Due to the large snow storm in BC, my fiance and I had to reschedule moving by a day, and the owner of this company was SO understanding. HIs first concern was our safety and that we take care of ourselves. Then, we further complicated things by not being able to find anywhere to place our pod down for moving. Again, he was SO understanding. He got his moving employees to drive out to the loading area and they transferred all of our stuff in their truck. I booked these guys for my move on October 31st, 2015. Finally getting around to posting this review because they deserve it. Manel was quick to get back to me when I contacted him and sorted out the details easily. He emailed a couple of forms to establish the volume of goods I had for them to move from my old place to my new place. I paid a deposit and the rest was paid to the movers after the move was completed. My move was from a 650 sq. ft. place to a slightly larger place, from the West Side of Vancouver over to the Lougheed Mall area. The two movers, Asijah (spelling?) and Brian were friendly and professional. When the truck arrived at my new place, a friend of mine and I assisted where we could in getting everything up to the new apartment, because we were there and chose to, so that we could get on with unpacking and all that. The movers did not ask for help, don't misunderstand me! they took great care of all my things. They wrapped the microfiber couch and sure enough, it arrived without any stains or any issues at all. I say this because it's grey and stains easily. All said and done, from my initial contact with Manel the owner, to the movers, to the actual move, everything was great. I would rate them 4.5 stars but the options are 4 or 5 on this ratings scale. I chose the 5 but let's all agree there's no such thing as an absolutely 5 star move. Moving sucks, another fact! Avoid!! Totally unprofessional!!! I booked weeks in advance with this company, and the owner ended up giving away my morning booking at the last minute and putting me on standby, without consulting me. I had contents for a 1br apartment, which fit into a cube truck. The move was within 6 blocks in my neighbourhood. I was completely prepared, everything stacked, organized, shrink-wrapped, etc. Two guys showed up at 5:30pm, exhausted from two moves, and despite frantic calls, couldn't get another helper. Regardless, it took 1.5 hours (half the 3hr minimum) to efficiently load up. At the other end, exhausted and slow, by 9pm the two guys ended up calling the owner to come help them figure out how to put my couches into the elevator (after waiting an hour for him, I intervened, took the feet off, etc. and put the couches in myself, no problem)--after I went out to buy them dinner. I ended up doing half the moving myself, which defeats the whole point of hiring professionals. In the end, the owner showed up after the fact and stood there with his two workers at my door and 'negotiated' at 11pm (!!!), and told me I was "taking money away from them" when I balked at his 'adjusted' bill for 5.7hrs of moving!!! This is a dubious operation, clearly not motivated by professional standards and practices. I've moved dozens of times over many years, across N. America, including several in the Lower Mainland with a friend who is an owner/operator, and this business is pathetic. Any company owner should go out of their way to adjust, compensate and protect the integrity of their practices if there is a mistake or poor service. AVOID!!!!! RUN AWAY!! *UPDATE: Despite the owner's less than honourable claims to make himself look better in his comments here, I absolutely did NOT request to move my initial appointment; the morning appointment was going to be tight timing with outgoing tenants, so I simply asked if "another time might be available in the afternoon," to which he replied "let me see and get back to you." When I followed up the following morning, 24hrs before the move, he had given my booking away to someone else!! The owner, Manel, called me tonight on my cellphone to effectively sanitize this review with an alternate reality (the distorted version which has 'me' cancelling my booking) to make him look more favourable--NOT to follow up with an unsatisfied customer, to resolve the situation. What does that tell you about his attitude towards your moving needs, outcome, personal possessions, etc?? I'll leave that up to you...For someone charging industry standard rates, the service was abysmal. Trying to claim I saved $$ by only two guys showing up?? Who saves money there? read more
