We were the first ones in and before being led to the dining area we ordered a beer and Jamaican rum cocktail at the bar. The main dining room was covered in pictures of the venues chef posing with chefs like Gordon Ramsey ane Gary Rhodes..so these were nominated in the F word..things.looked promising. You can either chose from 2 meals for 10.95 or three courses​ for 13.95. while sipping on the well made cocktail we ordered the beef patties , chicken wings ,.lamb curry and deep fried chicken. The Pattie was split in two and served with a garnish this tasted ok...the wings were crispy and nice again nothing outstanding. Right each of the mains came with their rice and peas.. the sauce of mine was very dark and the meat very chewy.. the chicken... luckily we requested a side sauce otherwise this would have been too dry. This was not mega expensive but one of the dearest I've had for a carribean and so expected more. The staff were accommodating but I believe they need to focus less on their past glory days and re focus on the food.. a couple of things needed a new clean up..the menus had cigarette burns and the special.menu looked a little shabby. The food isn't cheap, but you don't expect it to be, because it's absolutely gorgeous food. If you can manage to book a table, the latest press and chef attention of Mr Ramsey and Mr Rhodes has packed out the bookings at Discovery Bay, but if you can get a table between 5 and 6.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, then you can get three gorgeous courses for £12.95 a head which is a bloody bargain to be frank. It's certainly a unique place to eat - the only other Caribbean restaurants I'm aware of are the two Turtle Bay chains in the city centre. The interior is all reclaimed materials and vibrantly coloured painted walls. They've only around 30 covers so the place is quite small (expect to struggle to get a spot when it's busy, but there are plenty of other dining options along this stretch of Barlow Moor Road). The menu is pretty concise, which I liked - their Beef Stew Peas was really flavoursome and just about tolerably spicy - I'm sure you can order other dishes that are more so. The sides of coconut rice and mixed peas are quite sizable, so best to share between two. I wasn't a fan of the fried plaintain here unfortunately. Washed down with a bottle of ShinDigger beer it made for a tasty and nicely unusual dinner spot.
