While this restaurant does not have many yelp reviews, I could find I stumbled upon it in a blog and the photos and reviews on google and tripadvisor had me enamored. This restaurant is set underground in one of Kalmar's oldest stone houses. The cellar of the 1660s home has been thoughtfully renovated to house this beautiful restaurant. Your experience is utterly transformed as you exit the cold Kalmar streets and dive underground into this candlelit stone cellar with little nooks and crannies set aside for more intimate dining. We were here on a quiet night and were 1 of only 2 tables. Our server was wonderful and helpful and kept bringing me out more of the gluten free bread I was falling madly in love with. Seriously I would wash dishes and take payment in bread if I lived in Kalmar. I was thrilled to find that many of the menu items were also gluten free including their soup of the night which was served with a drizzle of herb oil and a parmesan crisp on the side. I had the elk which was delicious and the husband also enjoyed his pork dish. Our desserts were artfully presented and delicious and my only regret is that I do not live next door to this place. While traveling through Sweden we ate at several michelin star restaurants and had our share of gourmet tasting menus but this..this was my favorite meal of the trip.
