Great tasting salads and a simple selection of mostly vegetarian pizzas (some meat options). Service is fantastic. They had some good beers but not a lot of the typical beers you find at many restaurants. You can eat outside next to a canal with some cool graffiti and it's right next door to bar Elmo. We decided to get take out pizza and bring back to our hotel. Stopped in and ordered two pizzas. Staff was very friendly and atmosphere was clean, nice and cute! There is a bar area and also a restaurant. If you don't want pizza, they have other yummy dishes. Carbonara pizza ( less the egg) might well have been the best pizza I've ever had! First off: Service is the best I've ever had in Europe. Attentive, quick, and beyond friendly. Beer and wine menu was short, but at least for us, both choices were really good. The food is mediocre. The crust is thin and super tasty, except at least on our white pizza, the center was SO soggy that you couldn't pick up the pizza without the crust almost falling apart in soggy, wet chunks. We got the Amatriciana, which was somewhat favorful thanks to the chorizo, but was still underwhelming and in desperate need of additional seasoning. Also extremely oily. We got a half and half white pizza, half Bosco, half Scamorza.. Bland, bland and bland. If it weren't for the truffle oil, this would have been a soggy disaster. We salt and peppered the top, which added SOME flavor, but not enough to make this a good pizza. Ambience is slightly bizarre, and feels like eating inside of a shed, as almost EVERYTHING is made of unfinished plywood. Seating is slightly cramped for the 2 person tables (even by European standards), so expect to hear your neighbor's conversations and have awkward eye locks during dinner. The open kitchen is nice, albeit slightly noisy (as open kitchen's always are). Also, they open at 6, not 5, and is super easy to miss, as other than an A frame chalkboard on the sidewalk there's no real signage until they open the doors and light up the heart above it. Look for two huge black doors on the right hand side of the street. I can't say I would come back. This is the least flavorful Italian food I've ever had, unfortunately. read more

First of all, this was some of the best service we've ever had in Europe. They had a table but only for 45 minutes, so they seated us right away, and got our pizzas cooking right away. The host/waiter sat down and explained every last pizza to us. We went with one pear pizza because of Belgian patriotism. Also the pizza was great. read more

I had high hopes but was sorely disappointed by both the food and the service. Service - Though we were seated quickly, it took 5-10 minutes for someone to take our order. Likewise, it took even longer - almost 15-20 minutes to track someone down to give us the check. Food - We ordered the Buffalo Mozzarella and Chorizo pizzas. The chorizo had more oily grease than I've ever seen. The plate was literally orangey oil once done. The Buffalo mozzarella was put on after the pizza cooked, and it felt bizarre to have uncooked lumps of cheese of top of a cooked pizza. If they had out the cheese into the oven like the rest of the pizza, it would've been a much pleasanter experience. Also, please be aware of the water prices. We asked for tap and were told it wasn't possible. So we bought the 1 liter, thinking we hated to pay but oh well. It was €8.9. Not exaggerating. €8.9. Insanity! This place might be one of our favorite finds in ghent so far! We were NOT expecting this excellent restaurant!! The pizza is great, just the right size for one person (I took home half, of course, but everyone else are theirs), plenty of decent options and choices. There were more alcohol options on the reverse of the menu than pizza choices, but we won't argue about that. As a random side note, this place's use of particle board as a main finish looks effing excellent, and now I want to do my whole house in it. Once I actually have one. Also, it might have moved. If I had known Ghent was such a foodie paradise I would have visited much sooner! (Though according to my buddy it has only recently become so). Eat Love is owned by the same people who run Chix (http://goo.gl/1D2P25): the two even connect via their kitchens. The interior design is again simple, but this restaurant houses low-hung lanterns against an almost entirely wood chipboard backdrop (I'm not going to lie, I did softly bonk my head against a lantern while getting seated). But let's talk food. I had such a difficult time choosing, and unfortunately didn't realize that you could order half and half until after my order went through. We started with the plain foccaccia to go with our local beers (it was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of herbs and salt, but next time I'd get it with either the lardo di colonnata or tzatziki and hummus), and waited approximately 20 minutes for the pizzas. One tomato-based with spicy salami (Diavola--excellent!), one Prosciutto (not really prosciutto, but lots and lots of ham atop a tomato and mozzarella pizza. Without the ham, I think the pizza would have been lacking salt), and one white pizza, the Bosco (mushrooms, truffle cream, and arugula--delicious, though they could have added some more herbs to amp up the flavor). The crusts were delightfully crunchy and thin, and we ate up every bite. Not enough room for dessert, but we'll be back again to try the dame blanche! read more

Awesome. Can't say enough it. I had really good pizza and beer in this quaint little restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy-casual, with unpainted wood everywhere, giving it an unfinished feel, but it works. Service was good and somewhat quick for Europe, which meant we weren't sitting there all night. read more

These guys were great! We did a chef's choice, which gave us two pizzas, each half-and-half, for a total of four different types. One was a "summer pizza", half Radici (cottage cheese Hollebeekhoeve, radish, cucumber, and spring onion) and half Fichi (apple, goat cheese, honey, sesame, Shropshire cheese, figs, mustard), which was like nothing I'd ever had before. Their raw honey tomato gazpacho and their hot pizza (which included a chorizo half) were also fabulous. The chef's choice also included appetizers and dessert, which came to quite a bit of food, but it was all worth it. The service was fantastic -- we were a bit pressed for time, but we told them early, and they got us out of there exactly when they said they would, packing our desserts and leftovers to go. Best pizza place in Ghent. Slightly more expensive than your average pizza place, but so much better. They not only have red pizzas (tomato base) but also white ones, and the menu changes with the season -- and it's organic too. You can have two pizza halves if you cannot make a choice. Fantastic pizza with interesting combinations made using very high quality ingredients. They can do half and half pizza combinations. I had a mushroom pizza with truffle cream and arugula/rocket. The mozzarella on the kids pizza was very fresh. Also recommend the cocktails. I had the watermelon Spritz and it was perfect for the warm day. Very balanced, definitely not a frou frou drink but seriously well crafted. Also the space is beautiful. read more
