This Eataly location is actually the very first one built in the world, which made it a fun stop during our trip. It was conveniently within walking distance of our DoubleTree Hilton hotel. The layout and selection of items were very similar to what we're used to back home in Chicago. We stopped in for a late afternoon lunch or perhaps an early dinner, but unfortunately, the meal was underwhelming. My husband ordered the ribs, which arrived overcooked and dry. I had the tortellini, which was just okay and only slightly warm. The waiter was friendly. Perhaps it was just an off day for the kitchen, but overall, the food didn't quite live up to the Eataly name we're familiar with. read more

Not interested in hunting around too much on a Monday evening, we walked here and had a great meal. Eataly is a complete Italian grocery store including butcher, dry goods, wine and beer, and more. As well, tables and counters for sit down eating. The menu includes a number of different options across the Italian dining spectrum but they will also, for example, cut a piece of beef and cook it to order for a small charge. We saw one table of what looked like a work meetup all getting custom steaks. We started off with a plate of the Farinata (a chickpea flour bread) to share and a bottle of red wine, then I had the Spaghetti Alla Colatura di Alici (anchovies, garlic, and more). It was super delicious but I had serious regrets after seeing the next table with the grilled squid that looked beyond amazing. Once you've seen one Eataly you've seen them all, and this nice outpost of the popular Italian food hall is as great as all the others. Located by our hotel, we stopped in for a quick snack before catching the metro into downtown Turin. Spacious yet not sprawling, this Eataly has a wonderful selection of packaged groceries, local items, and fresh produce. There's a very large wine cellar on the lower level and plenty of places to eat! The food stands are the best of course. I made a beeline for the pizza by the slice counter and had tasty pizza for a fair price. Seafood, fresh pasta, just-baked bread, beef, homemade gelato, local cheeses, espresso, a wine bar -- it's all here under one roof! It's a staggering array of noms, a real foodie paradise. While pricey, Eataly also sells all sorts of gorgeous cookware, kitchen items, and a fantastic selection of Italian cookbooks (unique gifts for any home chef). Seating here is extremely limited so grab a chair when you see it. A big plus is that it's open every day from 10 am - 10:30 pm. read more

Foodie paradise and the first one in Italy. There's three restaurants in this one including a Michelin star one. The Michelin star restaurants was closed so we went into one of the other restaurants. I got a pumpkin pasta dish, my friends got a proscuitto pizza. Highly recommended! On top of that, they have so much to sample and buy throughout the store. Even a great bakery. I'm surprised that I am the first person to review this amazing, amazing place! In a nutshell, Eataly is Italy. At least that's what their bags say. This place has EVERYTHING. There are aisles upon aisles of pasta. Aisles upon aisles of fruit jam. An entire shelf dedicated to honey. A basement full of artisan beers and bottles of wine. They stock regional Turin-specialties, so it's a great place to buy souvenirs as well. This is much more than a specialty store. I could spend all day here! Eataly sells top-quality Italian groceries. The cheese section is humongous, and there is more cured meat that you could imagine. The bakery sells out every day. Additionally, they sell refillable glass bottles (.50- 1 euro) and you can get fresh milk from a dispenser, or liters of wine straight from the barrel in the basement for 2 to 3 euro a liter. There is also a decent selection of Italian cook books (none in English, unfortunately) and an entire section dedicated to all cooking and kitchen supplies. The most distinctive thing about Eataly, in my opinion, are the eateries. There is a pasta and pizza restaurant near the pasta and bread section, a vegetable eatery near the produce section, a meat grill near the meat section, a fish restaurant near the fish aisle, a pasticceria, a gelateria, and a cafe. (Phew.) The menu for each place changes weekly (I think) so you can come back often and not get sick of the food. The prices, in my opinion, are reasonable. The pizzas range from 6 to 9 euro, the meat dishes range from 8 to 15 euro, and I got a waffle sandwich-type thing from the veggie section for 8 euro. Eataly is an experience not to be missed if you are ever in Turin. It's easily accessible by Metro (a one minute walk from the Lingotto exit). read more

As a food emporium that provides a one-stop for all food things Italian, Eataly in Torino is wonderful. I could and you could probably also spend days here peering at all the packaged/bottled/loose goods. This review is about my dining experience at Eataly Torino. The bad: I ate dinner here one night on my recent Italy vacation. I'd heard about this place and it's many locations globally. I was eager to try it.. The night I went, it was early (like 5:30pm ish) so there weren't many diners around. I sat downstairs in the pasta section. For dinner I ordered a pasta del giorno (tube pasta with vegetables and maybe a little pork). The pasta dish was delivered by the server. I took a forkful of pasta and put it in my mouth to chew. It was not properly cooked. Really???? Undercooked pasta in a gourmet food emporium? Unacceptable. I could go to a Pasta Pomodoro or a Fuzio chain restaurant in San Francisco and eat properly prepared pasta. Never had a badly prepared plate of pasta at either before. But here at Eataly it was bad! I had to hail the server down and tell her the pasta was undercooked. The server actually took my fork and cut into a tube of pasta and saw the inside was still white - i.e. not cooked. She took it away without saying anything. She brought me back another plate of the same style of pasta. This time it was decently cooked. I could tell that the server and the cook grudgingly re-did the dish. Or they could have microwaved the old one. Who knows. As someone travelling to Italy as an American, Eataly waiters and staff were very willing to help and explain the menu and different options. I've been there at least 3 times within the past 2 weeks, and each time has been great. Their pizza comes out hot and quickly, and their wine choices aren't too pricy as well. I also went towards the fish and carne section (as the restaurants are slightly placed around the store) and had a lemon chicken breast which just reminded me so much of home. So I walk in expecting a regular grocery store and then I make it a little further inside and I could hear the angels sing and the trumpet sound and here I was in the middle of heaven on earth. The meat department, prosciutto hanging from the ceiling, cheese galore, the fish department. I could stay in here for forever. My dilemma at some point this place is going to close, do I wait to get kicked out of heaven (kicking and screaming of course) or do i walk out of heaven all on my own knowing that since I'm just visiting this would be my only glimpse. I have heard great things about Eataly in NYC so we decided we would make the trip to it in Turin. When we first walked in we were a bit overwhelmed! There is stuff everywhere...I mean it is yummy delicious stuff but still! We went to the pasta restaurant and eat got a different dish. Every dish was good and not too expensive. I think it was 55 euros for 4 with drinks. After lunch we walked around. We got some jug wine for 5 euros for a 2 liter. We then made our way upstairs to the meat and cheese. We got some on promotion for a picnic the next day. I think they have quality products but they are not cheap! Overall we enjoyed our time here. I LOVE this place!! What a treat. I've heard there is one in Milan and one in Rome and I'll be sure to check out both. It's not just a gourmet grocery store. It's not just a wine bar or restaurant. It's all in one! There's a bar downstairs with an enormous selection of hard to find (and never before heard of beers). There's an incredible wine section. There's a kitchen supply section and I could shop for kitchen gadgets and cookware all day long. In the main level, there are pastas and spreads and sauces and jams and not the stuff you get at a traditional grocery store. There's fresh produce and meats and cheeses. And then there are bar seats around food by type...vegetarian, cheese and cured meats, steaks and chicken and a section of fish. Stopped in for a late lunch. Focaccia was fantastic, and tiramisu was great. I recommend when in Torino.

Family and I were looking for good spots around, and our tour guide recommended this place. Initially we passed up on it because they couldn't accommodate to sit 6 people, but after minutes and minutes of walking to find a good rest. we came back here. I'm glad we did because food was amazing!!! It was our 6th day here in italy (from what I can remember), and I've eaten nothing but pasta, all types, shapes, and sizes....so I decided I needed a break from all that damn carbs and opted for seafood salad. BOMB!!!!! Can Italians do any wrong? Everything they make is freakin delicious. I've never had salad that was filled with taste...and the best part is. All they used was olive oil and balsamic vinegarette. American version of balsamic vinegarette doesn't even come close. Ya'll step up your balsamic vinegarette game up! Service was also great, wished I got the name of the server that served us because he was ever so patient with us. Menu was in Italian and couldn't understand a thing! What a great concept this place is! Eataly is that huge grocery/restaurant concept. The selection of products is just enormous and the setting is this nice old brick building. There's so many sections to explore that you will need more than just one visit to fully see everything. If you go during rush hour and want to eat something, be ready to be ready to snatch the first table you see as it is really busy. Once seated the service is fast and they have a basic but appetizing selection of pizzas and pastas. The pricing of the dishes is very fair and we were pleased by the execution of what we tried ; a prosciutto pizza and buffala pasta. Their gelato bar was just a great way to finish the meal. It is also accessible by subway, just get out at the Spezia station and walk for about 5 - 7 minutes. read more

Like a Dean & Doluca, not impressive I have no clue why they get rave reviews. It's pretty much like a Dean & Doluca. The restaurant seating is betwixt the grocery aisles. The grocery products tended to be dry goods i.e. bagged pasta, sauces in jars,, etc. The produce section is tiny. Likewise meat counter very small, limited options. You'd be better off in any Italian butcher shop. Restaurant food was, while inexpensive, also unimpressive. They do have unbeatable prices for good wine by the glass (secret to their success?). Maybe worth stopping by to browse the wares but honestly, we thought it loud, crowded, average food.... not really a destination unless for a snack and a couple of glasses of wine. read more

In a city where food is truly commonplace and every other institution is famous for its own food, I wouldn't say Eataly holds much to its pride for what it offers. I understand its concept of bringing the entirety of Italy to a common area, but the concept lacks true delivery at prices that are really incomparable with osterias or trattorias around the neighborhood. I wouldn't waste my allocated time here eating a meal here unless things were closed. If you were shopping for food, this is quite the eye candy, in converse. Their selection of food, produce, dried goods are quite extensive, and particularly their wine display is equally magnificent. The original was way better than the NYC one. It was relaxed and had great shopping areas and really great dining sections. You can order from multiple stations and also get to-go from the rotisserie area. We tried the pasta, salad, salumeria, and rotisserie sections and all of them were good and had wine pairings. The Eataly is one of the temples of the Slow Food movement in Italy. The place is amazing, located at the former production site of FIAT in Torino, in an old Vermouth factory At first, it looks a bit like a huge, normal supermarket with a market atmosphere until you notice what is actually going on. I strolled around and found only high quality stuff, from pasta, fish, over meat, wine, spirits and many other things. There are climate chambers where Prosciutto di Parma is ripening, or another one with cheese. You may just enter and watch and smell. Incredible. Then, you get things to eat at every second corner. It sounds exaggerated, but I had the best Pizza in my life there. Of course, everything is crowded. Which actually fits to Turin, a place where you dont find a Starbucks in the center or other international food chains. Moreover, there is hardly a big block with a warehouse like in all the other big cities of Europe. Surprising, indeed. The people obviously dont like that and try to stick to their own character. Back to Eataly: go there if you like to see, smell, and taste some of the best food you can get! The goods are not cheap, but worth the price. Only the wine looked sometimes a bit overpriced. I lived in Torino for one year and this was by far one of my favorite places. My husband and I went at least once a week for lunch. They have everything. As you make your way around you will find Pasta, cheese , meats, fish, housewares,fresh produce, sweets, teas, coffees for purchase. In addition to a fresh bakery, coffee bar, gelato bar and dessert bar, you will find different spots to eat. First, pasta place near the bakery and under the skylight a large room with vegetable bar, meat bar and fish restaurant. After lunch don't forget to visit the Museo di Vermouth and the beer and wine cellar. On your way to checkout you can browse the bookstore and pick up the local favorite Gianduja chocolates! Love, love, love this place! Yes it it busy, and yes it is a bit stressful during lunch times. But it is well worth the bustle. The food is delicious and the varieties of dishes is diverse and yet authentic for the region. I would highly make the trip out. From central Turin, take the metro all the way to Lingotto. Eataly is part grocery, part restaurant, part cafe and part gelateria. What can I say...I've been here three times today! Once for lunch (asparagus pizza), then for gelato (crema and chocolate) and again later for dinner (the daily special- pesto fusilli)...it's just that kind of place...a place where you can get all your needs conveniently met. Heard about EATALY and then were pleasantly surprised when we discovered that it was located near our hotel while in Torino. Absolutely mind blowing. Beyond our wildest expectations.
