Within a few steps you are immersed in Autumn, sorta warm, hint of cold in the air, leaves blowing out of the trees like snow and a fantastic amount of leaves carpeting the ground. All colors - yellow, green, brown, crimson, so beautiful. I was looking for poison ivy - it can be on the trail in bright red, there is a picture at the entrance- but didn't find it. The wind was whooshing around, and you can see the Grand River as you walk into to park. The trail down to the river is step, well marked and slippery with all the leaves. Wear hiking shoes w tread. The trail has fantastic rock formations, erosion of the soft stone plays a critical part in the unique formation, ridges, ledges, springs and seeps, and crevices. The rocks can be slippery and there are roots interspersed in the leaves. It was slow going ... but no falls or slips for me or hubby. If you have kids- help & watch them. A real treasure hides down the hill behind the playground: access to the Ledges and the Ledges Trail. It's amazing to see the giant sandstone outcroppings and to wind in and around. Part of the trail follows right along the river on one side and the ledges on the other, giving a good view of the variety of animals, including birds, turtles, and more. Gorgeous and a great little hike!

My friend and I just wanted some where to float and chat. She repeated like 15 times while we were on the lake.... "I really like this spot". Bathroom were clean and didn't smell any odor - definitely a plus in my book. Please note - recreation passport is required; it's a honor system if you don't have one. The large play ground was very far out from the pavilion. My nephew said it was good. Very large and spread out. The space overall helped to contribute to a good day. I would definitely rate higher if it was better taken care of. Particularly the dangerous bathroom.

They have very nice, newly built play equipment for kids, but it is separated between young children (toddlers) and older kids (up to 12). There is a man-made lake with a sandy beach. It's nice to be able to stop here in the summer for a quick dip without fighting huge crowds. There are some baseball diamonds as well as picnic shelters. My favorite part though is the trail system. They have a well maintained system through the woods and around the lake, and it's never really busy so if you like to take peaceful, quiet hikes this is your place!

I came here in the winter and really loved walking the trails throughout the center. It helped that one of my friends, Dan, manages the programs here and would point out all the cool trees, plants, and general history as we walked along. He truly made my first time at Woldumar so memorable and his passion for this nature center truly shines through in everything he does - even when he's off the clock just showing boring ol' me around! I've heard so much of all the work Dan has put into this place over the years and he truly makes Woldumar shine bright for all those who come and visit, whether for an afternoon or for a summer-long program! I imagine this place overrun with kids and adults alike when the weather is great and can only imagine how much fun it would be to experience this place in the summertime. There is truly something for everyone here and definitely recommend this if you're looking for a low-key place where not a ton of people will be with some majorly high-key fun and exploration!

Fair chance for sighting small wildlife, especially waterfowl. Occasional music or craft events may require a fee.

We were visiting our friends in Lansing, and decided to do some geocaching in one of the local…read moreparks. That led us to here. Tecumseh park seems to be a park in transition. It's a neighborhood park that's got some parts that are a bit rundown (basketball court is grass with mouldering hoops, and there's a decrepit baseball diamond.) There are also some very nice improvements, such as a playground. There are plans to add a kayak launch in the future, which is a great idea, as this park runs along Grand River. There's also an area that they're allowing to become naturalized, with some hiking trails winding through. Altogether this is a great neighborhood park, but not really a destination park yet.
