Being an avid bargain hunter, I could not pass up this opportunity! With winter fast approaching, my summer wardrobe desperately needed a seasonal upgrade! Recycle Boutique held this event outside on a side street nearby their shop location. Down Edwards St., they had a huge public lot scattered with random clothes. Thus, the appropriately named event: the Recycle Boutique Scatter Sale. Several plastics tarps were placed on top the cemented pavement. Above them were heaps and heaps of clothes! In a given pile, you could find pants, dresses, coats, and other items that were of varying brands and designs. Although some of the clothes displayed a particular size, they may not necessarily be the same fit for each brand. It's best to try each one on just to make sure they're alright. Unfortunately, there was no dressing room. Some people had to find a corner space to try on clothes on top of what they were already wearing. Others didn't even bother, and tried on clothes where they were standing as they browsed the scattered piles. Trying on pants was an issue. While tops and dresses could be easily put on, it's difficult to gauge an accurate fit for pants. To solve this problem, I found a large loosely fitting skirt from one of the piles and cleverly changed in and out of pants I wanted to try on. Another issue was that were was no mirror! How could I know whether I actually looked cute or looked like I fell in the lost & found bin? There was no way to know for sure! At the end, I left with nine items. These included four jackets/coats of varying designs, three different colored pants, one summer dress, and a sheer top. I could've probably been alright with just a few of these but, at $5 a piece, they were too good to pass up! NOTE: - They accept cash and card. - Bring a friend or a mirror, or both! (It can be difficult to figure out if something looks good on yourself without being able to see it for yourself. Bring a friend to give you good advice! Alternatively, if you question your friend's personal fashion choices, bring a mirror so you can decide for yourself!) - Bring a large reusable bag. (You won't leave empty-handed. Promise!) - Show up early if you want a doughnut! (On the FB page, they advertised for doughnuts while you shop!... but I arrived too late on the scene to get one :-( ) - Proceeds went to charity! For this event, they went to "Dress for Success." - Recycle Boutique holds these sales quarterly, so make sure you don't miss out on the next one!

I don't know a huge amount about all the games etc but when I go there they are willing to chat and help me out. I like them there. Loveable nerds.

I found it to be not that different to a normal Kate Hill store - that was on sale. Except it was more messy. The staff, of which there were three when i was in there, were far more interested in having their own conversation - than helping me - they only seemed to acknowledge my existance from an anti shop lifting standpoint (as in, we know you are there so dont steal anything) than actually helping me. I did in the end buy a purse and a handbag - but I wont be heading back to the DFO store any time soon. Expecially since we now have a store at Harbor Town in Adelaide :)

Located in the thick of things on the corner of Bourke St Mall & Swanston, ground level has handbags / small backpacks etc, and the basement level is where the travel magic happens. Stocked within an inch of the spaces life, here is where you find enough luggage porn to suit the pickiest of picky travellers, including brands like Samsonite, American Tourister & plenty of cheaper luggage sets for those that don't want to shell out big bucks. You'll also find accessories like travel pillows, power adapters etc I visited a few times to ask questions before making a decision on my purchase, and every visit the staff were friendly and helpful, but not pushy. So I went to Strandbags in the Bourke St. Mall to see if I could get something like that. With two floors of bags, handbags, wallets, suitcases and backpacks there was plenty to choose from. It wasn't difficult finding what I was looking for, as there were some on display in the shop window.

This means buying presents. All. The. Time. I'm not a fan of Fisher Price, not in the least because there is a high likelihood that someone else has bought the same gift (this totally happened at my nephew's first birthday), so I like to get something a little different...and something that I would like to play with myself. Jasper Junior is one of my best auntie ever go-to stores. It is jam-packed with great toys, games and clothes for kids of all ages, and best of all, it is a Fisher Price-free zone. Instead, you can get a whole range of wooden toys (Brio is a particularly good brand with a great modern design sensibility) or puzzles or fancy dress costumes. I'm a particular fan of anything they have that helps kids learn languages other than English (such as French alphabet flash cards or wooden blocks with Italian words and numbers). There are even these slightly frightening dolls that are all anatomically correct, you know, DOWN THERE. (Actually, I'm planning on getting one of these for one of my brats at some stage.) The staff are really helpful too, so if you are stuck for ideas or on the appropriateness of gifts for certain ages (apparently you're not supposed to give small children sharp objects - who knew?) they can help you out. So if you are ever hungover and in a desperate rush to get to a first birthday party but need a great present with minimal fuss (like I was this morning), Jasper Junior is your place.
