I would like to heartily recommend Jim Fan (EChiBon) as an excellent electrical contractor. Jim did all work to code with permits, and his passed inspection. He is trustworthy, and will not take shortcuts. He will recommend what is the right way to do something, or how he might do it in his own home. I appreciate that very much, and followed his advice. The prices he charges are not cheap, but I think it is important to get a good person to do electrical work even if it costs more. The quality and safety is important for electrical work. Jim did a lot of work on the home that we purchased recently. Jim added a surface mounted sub-panel in the garage and 10 new circuits in all - 5 new circuits to rewire bedroom, living room and dining room outlets with grounding, 1 dedicated circuit for hard-wired smoke alarms, 2 circuits to bathrooms, 1 circuit for outdoor lights near garage door and 1 circuit for security camera. Jim installed recessed lights in kitchen, dining room, living room, and hallway. He did the electrical work for bathroom remodeling, and did problem solving to find the right place for terminating a bathroom exhaust fan vent to the exterior. Jim added a new four line circuit for dryer in garage (grounded for extra safety), and a Tesla EV charger. He labeled all breakers with a label maker. Jim is knowledgeable and takes effort to do problem solving. He is very good at it, and solved issues and did all the electrical upgrades carefully with quality work. We saw Jim's EchiBon Electric truck parked in our neighborhood. Needing some work ourselves we looked into him and were impressed by the reviews online. We moved reached out to him about a number of small electrical jobs around the house. These jobs included inactivating an outdoor pole lamp that was no longer used, replacing an LED light on a high ceiling, installing a brand new porch light, as well as replacing some USB outlets that never worked properly. We were impressed at how well he communicated with us both prior to work starting as well as during the job. He broke down the prices for each of the things we wanted done, explained what was needed as wells as what the cost was for each part. After he completed all of the work he then way above and beyond when when he took the time to answer some questions and educate us about another job (changing cooktops) that we were considering in the kitchen. This review has been long overdue. We initially reached out to Jim when we noticed our recessed lights have been flickering in our Master Bathroom. On the same day, Jim promptly reached out to assess the situation and asked us multiple questions relating to flickering behavior, and our setup for main and sub panels. Within a couple of days, Jim came out to our residence and started his troubleshooting process and inspection throughly throughout the house which included electrical outlets, sub and main panels, as well as the attic. After a couple of hours of inspection, Jim was convinced and isolated the issue down to the power line from PG&E and explained his rational behind his assessment. We reached to PG&E immediately and they sent a lineman out to take a look. Low and behold, the lineman confirmed there was an issue in the neutral wire in the power line. We had to replace our Federal Pacific 100A main panel with another 100A due to home insurance inspection as it was known to be a fire hazard. We didn't upgrade to 200A, because our power feed was underground. So, it would have been very expensive. We got quotes from several electricians to do a like for like replacement (100A to 100A) and ultimately went with Echibon Electric (Jim) for his fair pricing and fast responses. Most of the communications were through text and Jim was clear on the expectations and timeline. Jim took care of the permitting process which was a big time saver for us. Jim also handled coordinating and scheduling with PGE for the power shut off/on. Again, another plus as some other electricians expected the homeowner to handle this. Overall, we liked how streamline the whole process was from start to finish. The whole project completed in 6 weeks as scheduled without any surprises. The electrical work was only 2 days (1 day for subpanel and another day for main panel). Everything in between was waiting for the panel permit to be approved and availability of PGE to come out to shut off the power.
