Made reservations for 4 people at 8pm and ordered our food shortly after arriving. We received our food almost an hour after ordering it and it was sold cold. We ate the food any ways since we were famished. The tap water taste like sulfur water and our appetizer only came out after we had complained to the table next to us, who were actually employees of the restaurant. We have been here between 10-15 times. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Bottom line it is inconsistent for how pricey it is. Tonight I had the wedge salad, which is OK but I think they believe salad dressing is a precious commodity worthy of withholding for future generations. Followed the salad with the Echo burger which I ordered medium. It came burned on both the outside and inside and tasted like I was biting into a brick of charcoal, could not eat it. On SSI there are many places to eat, if you come here try a flat bread or something that is not difficult to screw up. Otherwise you may be stuck with a meal you regret along with a check 2x more expensive than it should be...but it is a hotel. read more

Echo is the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful St. Simons view and some awesome grub. I thoroughly enjoyed the filet which came with TRUFFLE grits (uh-mazing) and broccolini (special order). Speaking of special orders, I asked for a greyhound as my beverage, which was not on the menu, and Kristopher was very cool about making it happen. Definitely order the chicken dumplings. We recently stayed at the King and Prince for a wedding and ate here for the convenience. Food was pretty good - the fios gras burger, artisan cheese plate and arugula berry salad were superb. Breakfast fare was average. As others have mentioned, the view can't be beat but the service was ridiculously slow. We were enjoying the view but with a toddler when we need to leave we can't wait 20 minutes for the check. Prices are on the high side but if you stay at the resort it's worth one visit for the ease. read more

Went here for a nice dinner out with a bachelorette party. Wish we wouldn't have ever stepped in the door. First, our server was completely out of it and service was miserably slow. Second, we found out as we were ordering we could not split the tab- so just be warned before you get a $600 bill. Third, one of our friends found out as we all got our food they were out of her item, so she had to reorder and wait after everyone got food. Fourth, another friend couldn't even eat her Tuna it was so disgusting. And finally, almost half of us got food poisoning from it. Disappointed in bar service. Sat for quite sometime patient. Couldn't get eye conduct from the 3 bartenders. Fries soggy but well salted. Bun on burger was very crisp. It's like the entire meal was under heat lamp to long. Everything was a struggle. Out of 2 wines by the glass. Forgot the cheese. Shrimp appetizer was great but drowned in the rest of the poor dining experience. It was 3pm. Should have been that much work to dine with a busy staff there in those numbers. Had the breakfast sandwich with egg and sasuage- excellent beach front views but the food did not match, a subway sandwich would have been better, eggs were over cooked, sausage was dry. This may be the most expensive place to get take home grits in the world- $4 for 4oz. Should have left when the hotel adjacent was busy but echo had only 3 people seated. read more

The view is really the only reason I'm giving 3 stars-- you can't beat the beautiful sights of the ocean. However, the service was absolutely terrible. We had reservations, and were ignored upon arrival. After we did get seated, our waitress took our drink order and was nowhere to be found after that. Mind you, the place was not busy AT ALL. After about 15 minutes, our drinks came and she took our food order. My boyfriend's drink was disgusting and he wanted to order something different but again, no waitress in sight. A different waiter brought our food out, and the food was okay but nothing to rave about. Overall, would not recommend this place for the price. There are better places around. read more

This is a hidden gem. My fiancé and I just finished a 3 course brunch with cocktails for $50.00. We each started with a shrimp bisque- it was savory and flavorful. We then had a frisée salad with figs and apricots which was a perfect palate cleanser. He had the crab cake Benedict and I had the steak and eggs. Both were to die for. An added touch is the amazing outdoor view of the water and beach and a pleasant surprise is the migrating monarchs passing by the table. I'm not one to leave a bad review but I took my girlfriend here for dinner and our meal was horrible. I got the steak and it was one of the worst I have ever had, and she got the seafood paella, which was bland as cardboard. Our bill was well over a hundred dollars. Overall this place is nice to look at but don't expect anything great coming from the kitchen, and your definitely paying for the view. read more

Sorry- this restaurant is overrated. It is poorly run. Employees stand around talking to each other instead of providing good customer service. Wait staff are assigned to tables in the restaurant and the bar. Where is your waiter when you need something? In another room. The food takes forever to get and it is not always hot when it comes to the table. Some of the salads came without dressing. Half of us ate while the other half had to wait 15 minutes until someone we could talk to came by the table. The best part of the evening was when our waiter asked us if we saved room for dessert. We told him we had not received our entrees yet. He acted like we were talking a foreign language. My advice is, get in the car and find another restaurant. read more

We were vacationing on St. Simons in February and went to ECHO for a nice Valentines Day dinner. The venue is beautiful, and the service was very good; however, dinner was overpriced and of marginal quality. The restaurant provided a special limited menu with three entree choices and set appetizer, soup and salad. The appetizer, soup and salad were nicely prepared, but both of our entrees (rack of lamb and filet minion) were lacking in flavor and quality. With a limited menu, I'd think that they could get it right. I would have been disappointed at half the price. When we return next February we will find another option for Valentines Day dinner. read more

We wanted to try Echo due to the view and menu. We got there and were put on the waiting list so we decided to go to the bar to wait. Appetizers were actually amazing. My glass of wine had a bug in it and I had to return it with barely an apology from the bartender or a comp. I went to check on our table after waiting almost 1 hour to find they couldn't find us in their system. Luckily the host remembered me so they sat us immediately. Our food took over 40 minutes to arrive and my salmon was stone cold and the white rice was sticky and cold as well. This will be a restaurant we would not recommend. Service was almost nonexistent. Food was ok, atmosphere was great, but no refills on a smallish cup of tea and a soda. We never saw our server until we were done eating. Echo was highly recommended by hotel guests at the King and Prince so we had high expectations. However the restaurant ended up being a huge disappointment. We were immediately seated and the decor with the ocean view was very nice. The service was not very good. Our main courses took almost 2 hours to come out and the dessert took 30 minutes. Which was all way too long. The food was extremely overpriced and was average to below average in taste. Our table had 2 prime rib specials that they said were okay but nothing great. We also had the coastal catch of the day which was a blackened Wahoo for 32 dollars. The wahoo was said to be pretty bland and not worth the price. I got the grouper meal with a pecan butter sauce and the portion was very small and the sauce and the fish were very bland. The potatoes au gratin were also very burnt. All for 35 dollars... The prime rib specials came with a "bread pudding" dessert which was just a banana muffin that was cut in half with a scoop of ice cream and some fruit. Not a bread pudding at all. Maybe the kitchen was just having a bad night, but after my meal you would be better off at any other seafood restaurant on the island. read more

Good food and great service. There are many options for where to be seated with ocean views inside or outside. The portions are really big and we ended up having enough for another meal from the flat bread,romaine salad, appetizer sampler, salmon BLT and another sandwich. The quality is very good and the fried okra and pimento cheese hummus were very good. Our server, Earline, was very nice. The shrimp cocktail Bloody Mary was super special too! Nice restaurant with a view. I had made reservations a week before on open table. We were not offered the choice of outdoor seating. Our table was in the middle, away from the windows. Just surprised at that since we were not walk-ins. Service was ok, a bit slow. For a nice restaurant, I was surprised I had to ask to have my water refilled, usually servers are all over that. Mussels appetizer was really good, highly recommend getting it. But again, for an upscale restaurant, I was surprised there was no separate bowl provided for the shells, had to tuck them on the side of the plate. The shrimp and grits were ok, was not expecting fried shrimp with my grits. Not how that is usually served. Husband's wahoo was a large portion and nicely prepared. read more

This restaurant is way overpriced for what you get. They are trying to be a high class fine dinning restaurant when in fact they are just a simple hotel restaurant who serve medicor food at best. My wife and I went there for our anniversary and they barely acknowledged us. I got a New York Strip steak for $40 that was not even cooked correctly. If you are going to charge so much for a steak you need yo know how to cook it. My wife ordered $20 chicken that looked like it was boiled. No flavor whatsoever. The only thing that was decent was the potato casserole. If you are thinking about coming out to this restaurant, save your money and go somewhere else. We only were able to have breakfast at Echo but had the best experience during our stay. We were usually the first people in because of a 1.5 year old that would NOT sleep! Terrible service....I went for a run this afternoon and came home and decided to get some lunch at Echo. I am greeted in the back door by a young millennial girl with braces, "Can I help you?" Yes I said I would like lunch on the patio and in that great millennial fashion she grunts, blows air and growls , I said excuse me "is there a problem"...no she replies "I am tired" - and then I find myself apologizing- what wait a minute - I don't care! I really don't care you are tired it's 1pm - get some sleep! I am at a resort for vacation and not only that deciding if we should have our annual sales conference here - not to mention - I never received my silver ware and napkin until I had to ask! Unimaginative coastal cuisine prepared mediocre. However, after eating at several other establishments on the island, this was better than most. The atmosphere is overhyped. The view is nice, but most of the patrons are eating burgers and fries or a club sandwich so it feels like a beach bar rather than a fine dining experience. My grouper and my GFs salmon were over cooked and dry. The Mac & Cheese was straight out of a box. Really nothing to compliment about the food other than its better than several of the other overhyped restaurants on the island. SSI is not a culinary destination.
