I took my 7 year old daughter to have a check up with Dr Frohlich and was informed that an X-ray revealed a faulty filling. I was advised without any hesitation to have it renewed although it would be the 3rd time this filling would have to be done in 3 years! I was naturally very reluctant to undergo yet another intervention with anesthetic. Finally after many months, I decided to take their advice and made an appointment. But when I took my daughter out of school to her appointment, it could not be done as I had forgotten to tell the receptionist that she was to have laughing gas before receiving the injections (standard practice in 3 other child dental practices I have visited). As organising this would take too long I would have to come back again. Most frustrating was the tone with which I was told repeatedly by both Ms Fröhlich and her assistant that I had waited too long to make the right decision. This seemed to be the main obstacle to treating my daughter on that day. In the meantime I have changed dentist and I have received extremely professional advice to delay an intervention until there is at least the suspicion that the tooth is actually affected by decay. For a 7 year old with otherwise healthy milk teeth, this seems like sound advice. I can only advise that any parent getting advice by this practice to undertake costly and painful tooth operations on their child should seek a second opinion.
