The place was great had wonderful food especially the big pretzels. Get the Wurst appetizer, which is great. It's enough to feed two people.

This place looks like a dive bar, but give it a chance. We had the option of sitting indoors or out, and since it was such a nice night, we chose out. Their Biergarten is a fairly good size, with 20 or so picnic tables spread throughout, and a small stage located at the entrance to the garden from the restaurant. On our visit, the entertainment was an accordion player who also happened to have Milwaukee roots (hometown shout out!). Aside from "In Heaven There is no Beer" and a couple of 50's tunes, we did not recognize anything he played. I thought I heard "Oh, du lieber Augustin", but it wasn't a version that I was familiar with. Anywho, amongst the 4 of us, there were 2 liters of beer, 1 Apfelwein, and 1 Hard Cider. One of us had never had German food before, and she loved not only her Apfelwein, but also her food. We ordered Kasespatzle with Bockwurst, Zigeuner Schnitzel, Hungarian Sausage, and Smoked Jalapeno Cheddar Wild Boar-Venison Sausage. Everyone enjoyed their dishes tremendously. I was disappointed with the dessert options, which were two different chocolate options (one I believe was cake), and a strawberry torte. Personally I was hoping for strudel, or Bienenstich, something along those lines. Dinner prices start at $16.95, so not cheap, but not crazy either. The parking lot is smaller than it looks, and a parking spot can be difficult to come by. A great place to escape from the boring 'Big Box' chain restaurants. The vibe was chill with families, a table celebrating a birthday and just friendly talk and chatter. The food was really good with a Huge fresh bake pretzel surrounded by flavorful bratwurst. They have live entertainment with a guy on an accordion. Made me feel I was in Germany. My straight out of Frankfurt husband brought us here today to try to some traditional German dishes and drinks! They had a good selection compared to some other german restaurants. The staff was friendly and provided good service. The food was fine. I think most of it lacked the traditional german spices and flavors. I also think $3.50 for a side of cheese sauce is a little ridiculous, but the pretzel needs it to help with the dryness. read more

OMG sooooooo good!! 10 stars! Have gone a few times since going for the 1st time a few weeks ago for my birthday. Have driven by many times and wished we had stopped sooner. 1st the staff always greets you with a smile when you enter and quickly seats you. Have has 3 different waitstaff and all where friendly and efficient. Did a few customization to the orders and they came out correct each time. Have tried multiple different sausage plates and all where grilled up crisp on the outside and still tendy, juicy and sooooo flavorful on the inside. The German potatoes are also amazing and so is the red cabbage. Kids meals have good choices. The accordion player on one visit was great too. Not too loud and played great songs. The building itself is really old and getting a little shabby, but don't let that deter you because the food and time staff are the best!! We love Edelweiss. We used to live closer but now will make the drive over here when the urge for German food hits. I love their jagerschnitzel. Spaetzle is sometimes hit or miss. Service is usually a bit on the slow side but always friendly. Pretzel bites appetizer is one of my husband's favorites. I enjoy the days they have live entertainment. On our most recent visit they had Black Forest cake as a desert special and my husband ate every bite and said it was delicious. Solid choice if you're in the area and craving German food! read more

I'm not sure if I would go back. When it was time to pay for our bill, our waitress never showed us exactly what we were paying for. She went right to the tip screen. They reduced the cost of the pretzel! Am I being followed? Constant improvements are being made while keeping the best parts of old. This place deserves more attention. It's one of the most authentic German/Hungarian/Polish places and they truly are trying to improve it. They consistently have been improving, and I'm here for it. The parking is something that should be addressed. They seem to be offering spots to the mechanics next door. Which is great, but I'd draw a line at Friday-Sunday night which are restaurants bread and butter. Lastly offer specials for the vibe. Saturday Single liters or Friday Flights to Europe or something. Been to edelweiss a few times before and it's always been good. This time my wife and I both got jager schnitzel. It came out warm but not hot although still tasted good. We also got the pretzel bits and cheese sauce which were hot and delicious. We ended our meal with German chocolate cake. It was amazing!! The frosting was soo good and the whole cherries and chocolate cake were.... I'm trying not to say the M word here but it was that. The food here is so dang good! Authentic German cuisine. I highly recommend the wild boar braut on their specialty brauts section. The thin breaded chicken dish is fabulous as well as the ham shank. Emily our server was very attentive and gave us great recommendations. She brought us a beer sample she said pairs well with our food and it really did! They're a bit pricey but we felt it was worth it. Not any different in price compared to the chain restaurants as of late. In this very dim, slightly worn German restaurant I ate tokány for the first time and have craved it ever since. I am not sure what I was expecting but I thought of this soupy dish with a dollop of sour cream. Instead it lays over the spatzle with these nice chunks of pork. The sour cream gave it a nice zing. I ate nothing else that day, because it was very filling, but I left very happy with the food. Everything else was fairly typical. Our waiter stopped by the requisite number of times to be attentive. Well friends had birthday party and wanted german food. So here we are. Very large open area with lots of long park style tables. OK for short time but tiring for the 2 hrs we were there. Service is fairly prompted to needs. People order beer flights witch were a mix of light to dark beer. We'll received. That's the good. Food was another story. I was wanting sauerbraten which is like the most getman dish. Nope discontinued. Not wanting fried goods i skipped schnitzel's and order the beef stroganoff. Food delivery was slow at we had party of 10. Mine was delivered in middle. How to describe the dish. First off is was on warmish. There were little straps of beef in cream sauce over noodles. Beef left much to be desired. No flavor, and tuff. The sauce and noodles was very good. Multiple people has the various schnitzel dishes. For August's International Supper Club UYE Edelweiss Biergarten was the place that was picked, and fun fact on the day we all met up there was 2 parties of 8 both under the name of Monica, what are the odds haha After checking out the menu I went with the Huhner Schnitzel, which had lightly breaded tenderized chicken breast with garlic sauce and also came with German potatoes and a cucumber salad. I also asked for a side of their paprika sauce with it as well, and I have to honest that was not my favorite. I also was looking forward to trying the cucumber salad, but my plate did not come with it, it was the chicken and the potatoes. The chicken was cooked perfectly and breaded just right; this was what I was craving! And paired with the garlic sauce it was perfect! The potatoes were spot on too, but let's be realistic I haven't met a potato I didn't like. We recently tried Edelweiss for the first time. We took my boyfriend's father to celebrate his 82nd birthday. We went for lunch on a Friday. It was nice and cool inside and the restaurant was much larger than expected. They have a large bar, stage area, and plenty of seating inside and outside on their large patio. I do not eat meat, so I was happy to see that there were plenty of meat-free options, both as appetizers or main dishes. There's an extensive beer list as well. The service was fantastic. Our waiter was a lot of fun and kept us laughing throughout our visit. We enjoyed our entrees very much. They are so huge that you might feel like a nap after eating. We certainly did! We were excited that they provided a free birthday dessert, a slice of apple strudel. Delicious! We definitely would like to return for Octoberfest, which begins in late September. They also have an accordian player on weekend nights, which sounds like fun. read more

The live authentic German music is great too! In addition, the building is historic, it used to be the area's first Wells Fargo bank, like over a hundred years ago or something! Cause I only know of 3 (Van Buren, main St, and i17/Indian School) Lol We walk in and I'm immediately slapped in the face with smells of deliciousness. J orders the pretzel bites with beer cheese and the Opa's favorite. Bread and cheese, he knows the way to my heart. Let's talk about the beer cheese. I have a love hate for beer cheese. Hate it when it's grainy. Which I've found 95% wherever we order it. If it is done right, it is fantastic. Smooth and creamy. And this one was! The pretzel bites were chewy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. And the fried cheese with cranberry sauce. Very nice. Entrees ordered - Jager schnitzel - J's Hungarian schnitzel - C's Eisben - mine! I had to be the odd one out. Lol but we all shared bites of each other's The schnitzel was pretty good. If your ordering one of the schnitzel, the only difference is the sauce it comes with. Which comes on the side in a little 2oz Togo container. And they charge $1 for an extra side of sauce - I know cause we asked for 1 to take home cause C had leftover schnitzel. I think the star though was my Eisben. Our server was awesome! Our water was always full, he was prompt with bringing out the food and asking what else we needed. There was authentic music playing when we first arrived, and then a gentleman came in and played the accordion and sang! It was a nice surprise as I wasn't expecting a show with our dinner. There is a wide variety of beers to choose, I didn't have any but my friend did and said they were all delicious. We ordered Opa's Favorite, Eisbein, and Huhner schnitzel.
