The nave of the Church is adorned with rows of wooden pews with beautifully carved endings, stained glass window panels, chandeliers in the shape of a crown and a stunning timber crossing roof. The Church also comprises of several transepts and an ornate wooden choir loft. St Patrick's is yet another Auckland Church that is used for classical music concerts. I recently attended the Back-to-Back Bach, Age of Discovery concert organized by James Tibbles. He is the Cathedral's organist and Senior Lecturer in Early Music at Auckland University. Something beautiful tends to happen when James plays on the Liston Memorial organ at St Pat's!! Did I mention that the Age of Discovery concerts are free!? That alone warrants a five star rating - I guess!? I'm giving St Pat's 4 stars on this occasion though, because I felt that the acoustics were not as effective as when the Cathedral packs a full-house. I'm no expert though...

Our family celebrated major milestones here like marriages, funerals, baptisms and communions. The parish is very friendly with a multi cultural flavor that reflects the area. There is a downstairs function room, basic facilities but perfectly adequate for the occasion. A mini mart jumble sale is held on a regular basis so you can pick up a few bargains for the family. Five stars? The Peace Place really deserves much more. It is also a difficult subject to to…read morecategorize, but it deserves a mention to get their name out there. It is a place of sanctuary in the centre of the city, to pray, meditate, research or find like minded people. I attended there through the Auckland Spiritual Discussions Group, they use the space to meet on the 27th of each month, in the evenings, having different speakers give talks and/or lead practices. The peace place is utilized by several different groups of different religious views,but all supportive of the same values. Pax Christi, an international peace movement being one of them. The venue has a large range of interesting books, a library that you can borrow from, on many esoteric subjects and/or about the peace movements, advocates past and present, religious orders, etc. I have not been able to add the opening hours as it really does depend on several factors, however I can tell you that Monday's at 5:30pm they offer a space for meditation and occasionally lunchtimes too; and on Sat's they celebrate the Eurachrist, you don't have to be catholic to attend. Both were experiences I remember vividly, due to the scope of the place, but also the warm hearted nature of the people. The Pastor comes to personally shake your hand and make you feel at home. Everyone is generous with their smiles. It has that homey, yet larger-than-life feel to it. Not saying it's for everyone, as it's a church you could easily get lost in, but it's got a lot going for it.

Walking up to this towering and ancient cathedral is truly breathtaking, but absolutely nothing compared to the inside. With large archways, stained glass windows of saints and knights, and lights that protrude down like classy spiders, it truly is a marvel to gawk at. I thought to myself it would be a stunning place to get married. The Vicar, Michael, was a really great preacher and full of enthusiasm. The people at the door were welcoming and it was nice to hear an organ, but mixed with more modern instruments like keyboards and electric guitars. The way the seats were set out - all facing to the side of the church instead of toward the front - was slightly awkward. Everyone stares at you as you walk inside. However, maybe that's best so they can recognise and greet new people? EIther way, it was a really positive experience :)

It is really traditional on the outside but inside they have a new hall that has been full renovated to look really tidy. It was a great place for a reception and of course meant that it didn't cost the couple the earth. It also really suited their down to earth values and meant that they could actually invite more people to the reception. Which was great because there was a real buzz with the amount of people there. They just got caterers in and the night went off without a hitch. The hall isn't too big and isn't too small either. There was even enough room for an awesome dance floor to happen. I'd fully recommend this to you if you're looking for a venue that means you can go on that awesome honeymoon you've been dreaming of.

It's with great tact and compassion you preach a sermon after such an event, and thankfully, Windsor did this incredibly well. Not only is the environment welcoming and warm, but the Pastor showed a genuine love for people and compassion during a difficult time. This is really what you want to see wherever you go to Church. Since then, I've met a few people who frequent this place, and it's spoken of so highly, I sometimes wish I lived on the North Shore to attend it.

It is the pure fact that when I'm not working on Sundays, it is the one morning where I can get some good rest, and catch up on some live action from the PGA Tour. A very sad excuse, I admit, but unfortunately I don't have a better one. All selfish reasons, reasons alone that should entice me back to church. So tomorrow I will go to church, and the church of choice is the Windsor Park Baptist Church, led by pastor Grant Harris, you will not be force fed a sermon telling you how bad you are, but instead you will feel the positivity from his message. Grant is a very friendly and approachable leader, and a man who is more than happy to welcome new people to the church, and a man who understands the issues of the modern man.
