We stopped by Saturday night and were able to get seated without a resy luckily but most people had one so could make it easier to make one! A little tricky to get to bc it's in the alley behind a lot of the businesses on 6th street so try to go with another person / group! Look for the light above the purple door!! Kind of dark and moody inside - old romantic decor We tried the bees knees like cocktail and also the old fashioned style cocktail My husband loved the old fashioned - peach and mint flavor combo The bees knees was pretty good but strong anise flavor for me personally Overall everything was great and we had a nice time Service was super nice and helpful - drinks are made well!

Made a reservation for a Tuesday and well, it was quite empty. As in we were the only people in the place. The bartender was friendly and polite during the interaction. Drinks ordered were as anticipated and we got 2 rounds of the same drink. The seating was a bit different with the bench seating more firm to keep you sitting more up right. The chairs were definitely for lounging as you sank into them. The entrance was a bit sketch but hey, what do you expect? the inside was dark but not too dark and dimly lit throughout. One single stall restroom that was kept tidy.

Rating: 3.8/5 Eden has a cool speakeasy vibe and is tucked away in an alley (look for the purple door). I didn't feel very safe walking there at night--even with my husband--so I'd recommend going with a group, especially after dark. There was only one bartender working that night. She greeted us with water and got us seated quickly, but never came back to take our order. We eventually had to walk up to the bar ourselves since she was more engaged in conversation with the two guys seated in front of her. I wil give credit to the beautiful wordsmithing describing each drink. It sounds like a dream but the cocktails didn't live up to it. They weren't bad but for the same price point, I rather go to the Eleanor or the Powder Room for craft cocktails. The decorations are nice though so it is a good place to hang out with friends. Dandelion ($19): Rosa Luna mezcal mingles with italicus, cointreau noir, and agave crowned by a dusting of gold - smokey at its core with gentle whispers of floral & citrus. The Fall of Dram ($19): Monkey shoulder and Armagnac mingle with toasted coconut & a soft touch of soda, creating a warm balanced sip with gentle sweetness.

Super vibey and intimate cocktail bar tucked in an alleyway off of dirty sixth. Parking/location - off of dirty sixth so be careful where you park. Fortunately work in downtown nearby so was able to park my car in the lot there. The bar is located in the alley behind sixth, alley will look weird/empty but you will see a light above a pretty door. Recommend making a reservation if you're going at peak team as there are only a handful of tables. Service - our waiter was awesome. Super friendly and very knowledge about what drink to get based on how we were feeling. I'm not usually a gin fan but tried one of their gin based drinks and enjoyed it, then switched to a glass of their house wine. Interior is super vibey, great date spot or for catching up with a few friends.

    Empty on a Saturday night

I would avoid this place at all costs. It's in a sketchy location with an unfriendly staff, overpriced cocktails, and generally bad vibes. We had a reservation here for 5 people at 10pm. We walked in thinking we were in the wrong spot because it was in such a bad spot and completely dead inside. At 10:24, the waitress, who had been unfriendly with us since the moment we walked in, told us we'd have to leave in a few minutes because there was another reservation. Girl, I just sat down to my own reservation! There were only 2 other parties in the whole place, not even half full, and quick glance at Resy said there were still open for 5 people at 10:30, 10:45, 11:00, 11:15, etc. I know we were being a little talkative at our table, so I straight up asked the waitress when she returned: "Are we being too loud?" She pretended she didn't understand what I was asking. I just wanted honesty, we would've been quieter if they asked! I cannot FATHOM why a half empty bar on a Saturday night would be passive aggressively asking us to leave, but the vibes were ruined by that point so we left. It left a sour taste in our mouths, we were just a group of friends excited to try a new cocktail bar. Even without the rudeness of the waitress, it was still a red flag from the moment we walked in based on the sketchy Dirty 6th alleyway and the prices for mediocre drinks. Really awful place!

OMG. Watch out Whistler's, we think we just found ourselves our new favorite old fashioned. Incredibly smooth and one you want to slow down and sip on!! Hidden behind Dirty Sixth in an Alley Way, Eden us a perfect place to wind down your evening. Creative mixologists, truly enjoying the craft. A small and intimate space. Hint: you may be tempted by fried chicken nearby, but don't do it. Don't ruin the taste left in your mouth by Eden. Pro Tip: order the Dandelion & Disco (mezcal) and Taste of Eden (gin)

Got a chance to be in Austin for work recently and thought I'd give myself a little speakeasy tour. Eden was my first stop and it was just absolutely delightful. While there, I ran into a group of people that lived in St. Clair Shores which is not to far from where I live in Michigan. What are the odds of that? They were kind enough to invite me to join them since I was on my own, but I was on a schedule. Eden reminds me of a bar we have back home called Black Salt. Both base their cocktails on ancient remedies and theories and their drinks have a very earthy feel to them. I tried a couple of their craft cocktails and they were both excellent. The bartender was both attentive and efficient. I was here pretty early as it was the first stop on the tour, so it was super calm for the moment but it's not a large venue so I imagine it gets loaded up pretty quickly. Cute spot, nice drinks.

Lavender drink, one of the more syrupy ones I had. A bit too rich for me personally but my fiancée enjoyed it

Very intimate experience! Phones are discouraged and flash photography is not allowed which is nice. However, drinks were okay. They have different themes and we were there for the earthy/herbal theme. It was kind of surprising that some of the drinks were pretty syrupy especially with the theme and intention of wellness. I personally believe that $20 was pretty pricey for these drinks. Fun vibes though The staff offered for us to order an additional drink before our reservation was up(about 1.5 hours), so we did. We were not done with our drinks yet when we were told that the other reservation was there and we needed to leave when there were two other tables around us that could seat 2-6 people. The next reservation was for 2 people. Really stinks when we paid $20-$22 per drink

I enjoyed the vibe of Eden Cocktail Room. It's tucked away in an alley behind 6th Street. I loved that it's cozy without being overdone or feeling too new or flashy. The service was lively--maybe too lively? I ordered The Diary of Eve. The drink was good. My main complaint is that it wasn't cold enough. Overall, my experience wasn't perfect, but I enjoyed the simplicity of the visit. There are a lot of new, polished speakeasies around town, but I still think Eden is worth trying!

    Kristin S.

Speakeasy in an alley.. can't get better than that. Look for the purple door with the red light. Must have reservations as the place is small, but cozy. If you are looking for a little pick me up with a hint of dessert then the Water of Life is your drink. It's warm due to the coffee added to it. It's not overly sweet but you can definitely taste the chocolate and hit of salted caramel.

    Leslie B.

Eh. Seems the exclusivity of this place is because they don't sit more than 2-3 tables. We arrived for our reservation and were asked to wait. After seeing multiple parties leave, we still waited. Once we were finally sat, there was only one other party and multiple empty tables. We also had to ask someone who wasn't attending us for our check because we weren't checked on. Cocktails were decent, but nothing special. Overall not a fan.

I am so grateful I stumbled into this amazing little bar the other day! It is very much hard to find and the entry is in an alley, but worth the hunt and anxiety when you have a moment of doubt about what you're getting yourself into. When you enter, there is a dark sign and a curtain guiding you into a cozy bar with great music (their Spotify is on their website). Chris and Trevor were awesome - I came solo and they took a lot of time giving me awesome recommendations for Austin. I felt like I had a solid insider look at some of the best spots in the area, and I ended up staying out much later than I planned because I was having such a good time! Obviously, you also come for the drinks and these hold up to the hype. I had the Fall of Dram which is a beautifully balanced scotch drink with a hint of coconut. I followed it with the Fruit of the Forbidden, a floral vodka based cocktail. Both were delicious! I never would have tried the scotch drink (mostly because I had no clue what Monkey Shoulder is) and I'm so glad it came recommended!

    Dairy of Eve
    Loni M.

Eden is a fairly new speakeasy cocktail bar on 6th street. Definitely make reservations to come here because it is small and booked out. Finding this place was not easy and my sister and I struggled for a while. They did give good directions though, we just weren't expecting it to be in an alleyway with homeless people and garbage haha! However, once you find that red light and make your way inside you are instantly transported to another dimension? It seems like it! This ambiance is dark, sexy and sophisticated. Perfect for a date night or a small friend outing. They had our table and menus ready. Very creative drinks on the menu that goes with the name and meaning of Eden. I enjoyed the Dairy of Eve drink and my sister enjoyed the water of life. Definitely would recommend going here and I will be back.

We were treated nicely, but we definitely could have gotten in right away. By the time we walked in, the place was probably at 60% capacity. It was standing room only at the bar, but not overcrowded by any means. There is a dress code, but it's not entirely clear what it is. Some guy dressed to the 9s got turned away for not having sleeves whereas I got in with sneakers and a t-shirt. They ask for your cellphones upon entering and give you a key in exchange, but there doesn't seem to be any security to enforce it if you don't want to give them up. I have no problem with their policy, but I bet a lot of customers do. Interestingly, their little social experiment seemed to have a positive effect, where we ended up talking to strangers and vice versa. The Powder Room may be making America social again.

She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there.
