I wanted to take a few inches off and get layers in my hair, which at the time reached the middle of my back. Rose cut my hair, and boy did she butcher it. She used a razor and gave my choppy, blunt "layers". They were uneven and looked like a toddler took a pair of scissors to my hair. I'm just grateful I told her not to touch my bangs. I ended up having to go to another salon (after Yelping for a while) the very next morning to fix it. I went from long locks to a short bob thanksto my experience at Edge. I don't usually write reviews but the extremely poor service I received warrants one. Firstly this place has an extremely unmanaged appointment system. If you don't book an appointment, expect to wait for at least an hour. Even with an appointment you might have to wait for around 30mins (as I just experienced) The staff here isn't receptive to your demands. I asked for a shirt overall hair trim (0.25 inches) but the staff straight away cut about 1 inch and argued with me when I pointed out her mistake. I can only speak for the guy haircuts the nice Korean Lady does. I think for girls, she's really hit or miss. Or maybe girls are more nit picky about their hair. Since I've lived my entire life getting haircuts from my mom, I was on the search for someone who had that motherly touch when it came to getting a haircut in Berkeley. I didn't have many expectations when I made my appointment here, but I was looking for a new hairstyle because I felt that I had outgrown my old hairstyle. I like it here so much that even I have moved to somewhere a little further from where I used to live I still take the effort to come here for my haircut. (1) told them I wanted to keep my hair long - they cut off 2 inches then it was too late (2) another stylist tried to smooth out my sides - still jagged (3) I walked in with hat head but they don't shampoo to get a clear assessment of hair. I made an appointment with Sophie and the rest is history. I've been coming here for the past two years and have yet to have a bad experience. In fact, the service is excellent! Sophie is by far the nicest person I've ever met and I find myself having nice conversations with her every time I go. She also gives excellent hair cuts and is very receptive to your needs. I do have to say that there is a bit of a wait if you decide to walk-in. However, make an appointment and that won't be an issue.
