'Batley Mills' is a great place to visit for a relaxed one stop discounted shopping experience…read more I am pleased to say 'The Mill' in the last couple of years has evolved and improved greatly on their selection of women's clothing and fashion, catering for a wider range of clients than just the over 60s. As well as Planet and Precis Petite, they have expanded their clothing range to include Minuet, Kaliko and Jacques Vert which is great. I have as a result started going to the Mill regularly to keep my work wardrobe up to date. I have really had some good buys. As well as the improved womens clothing, the Mill in Batley is a great place to find handbags, luggage, wallets and purses etc. The discounted brands include Radley and Hideskin The staff seem helpful and friendly and if you are visiting by car there is plentiful free parking (although it can get busy at the weekends). The Cafe Nova coffee shop is located on the 1st floor of the mill and they not only serve delicious teas and italian coffee but their cakes and sandwich selections are also very tempting and a great excuse to have a break. It would be nice if good quality fashionable footwear could be introduced to the mill, similar to the selections found at the Boundary Mill in Colne. I also think emailing offers and information out to customers regularly for shopping events such as an extra 10% off or a free coffee voucher would be a good way of encouraging cutomers to keep visiting. I don't always go to the upper floors of the mill as I find the escalator system a little bit frustating in that you are forced to walk along the length of each floor for the ascent and then the same again on the way down. This zig-zagging may be an attempt to encourage shoppers to walk through each of the floor areas but I am afraid I just find it a nuisance. Other than that I would enthusiastically recommend a visit to The Mill in Batley. Happy Shopping :)

I was there again last week and bought 2 nice suitcases and 3 pairs of shoes all good makes. They have a great selection of Radley and Tula handbags the prices are about half the normal price and I bought my husband a really nice Regatta jacket for £45 instead of £100! If you want a good shopping day out you can spend several hours at the Mill with all the top brands available at half the cost! A mile further along the same road is Red Brick Mill which is fantastic for Home purchases rather than clothes.

There is a large shoe department, probably more for the older woman, and lots of nice handbags. The mens section is quite big. The home wares are lovely, some fab bedding and towels. Also candles and photo frames etc. Upstairs is the womans section, with a good range of both fashionable and practical items, some for the older woman. Their accessories are fab too with some very well priced silverware. Some great ballgown type dresses at good prices too! It has a cafe downstairs with yummy food at fgood prices.

In the children's section they have some nice clothes, especially when there is a sale on! There is a small men's section, again for the older man. The do some nice underwear and nightwear for women and children. The homeware section sells lovely cushions and candles. The staff are friendly, the store is always clean and tidy but the prices are quite high.

I'm not sure if this is where Jacks (?) was, but before you get to the traffic lights, you'll come across We Love Pixie. It's nestled in near a few of the charity shops, but is more or less distinctly indie fashion. The layout inside is fairly minimal, with changing rooms at the back and rails of clothes around the walls and a few in the middle. The woman working there was really friendly and let me know about some sales she had on and discount for students. I was torn on how to rate it, as a lot of the items are not my style. There were brands I'd not heard of, like Motel, and the range (on the hangers, at least) seemed a little dated in places. (Maybe would have looked better on?) I wasn't sure about the prices either, with a few items being 100% polyester and still what I thought was expensive. That said, there were a few pieces that definitely seem aimed at the students of Headingley and I loved the ponchos. There was also a velvet poncho/cardi/kimono (?!) that looked pretty cool. The website and Facebook does a great job of showing off the clothing to its full potential too, so have a look there. It seems like the styles are mostly a cross between vintage-style (as I'm sure all the items are newly made) and modern hipster kinda thing. I think perhaps I need a longer browse and to try on a few things! Either way, I hope it's around for a while, and I'd say pop your head in for a wee look.

Miss selfridge is a great fashion shop in burnley town centre. It is a bit expensive depending on…read morewhat you buy but they do sell very high quality clothes. The sales in here are very good as well to pick up a bargain. I like miss selfridge because the clothes are spread out well and there is always a good range of everything form jeans to dresses. There are lots of mirrors in here is well and that's always good! The changing rooms are quite big and the staff are very pleasant. They are ok with returns as well if you change your mind when you get home!

I wouldn't say it has a great mix of…read moreshops I would say it it aimed at shoppers on a budget with many charity shops, cheaper high street stores like pound saver and priceless shoes and clintons factory clearance store to name a few. It meet the needs of local people with a boots chemist, frozen food store and a butchers. There is also a Tesco supermarket which seems to be very popular. It has a great bus service to it and free parking although the car park does get very busy at times.

I ordered from the Pizza Hut a couple of times (awful service) and often called in Fultons on the way back from Bramley Baths. Overall a handy place for essentials but certainly not somewhere you'd go for a day out (unlike many town centres).

They have everything you may need in the way of fresh groceries with a bakers, butchers, fish mongers, delicattesens and various fruit and veg stalls. They also have a pet accessories and food store, a craft shop, and a toy stall. Specialist market traders are in abundance in the new hall covering a wide range of services such as custom made curtains and carpets, electrical goods, computers, tanning and piercing, and a nail salon.
