As an American, I'm finding that some gas stations in Europe are different than ours. Sure, they sell the same fuel There's no pay-at-the-pump and many stations don't have attendants. As was the case with this station that we walked past at 9pm on a weeknight.
The station is "open" and you can swipe a credit card to unlock your pump to fill up your car.
I didn't have a warm and fuzzy vibe with the neighborhood but you may feel differently.
