THE WORST EVER! They wont refund our $$ from our son's trip in March...excuses, excuses.

We used EDT for my daughter's 8th grade Washington DC trip and I could not have been happier! What set EDT apart from the other companies was that you get your own tour leader who stays with your group the entire time! The sleep at the same hotel as the group and take charge of all of the logistics. We had the BEST tour guide in DC, Dawn the Tour Guide, and she led her tours from the heart, not a script. Our tour bus was top notch! The trip was well organized and executed. We could always get in touch with a decision maker at the company if we needed something, which is something you also don't get with the larger tour operations. As a parent chaperone, I'm a bit disappointed with my EDT experience. The overall experience was ok, but there were many time-consuming organizational glitches. One of the bigger events also ended up being scrapped from the original program altogether because of time-constraints and a hike did not happen because the park is always closed on that day of the week. That being said, the places we did visit and their educational programs were excellent! Our guide and bus-drivers were friendly and the staff at the hotels and other places we stayed was kind and helpful. read more

I am so pleased with Educational Discovery Tours. My daughter's information was misplaced and we ultimately were not able to register her in time. However, the very nice people at Educational Discovery Tours solved the problem and allowed my daughter to sign up. My son went on a cruise with his class two years ago also organized by Educational Discovery Tours. He had an absolute blast, and still talks about how much fun he had. I'm a high school band director, and we planned our trip through EDT. This is a trip our school has traditionally done every four years, and the most recent one should've been Spring of 2021. The previous director had used them for two trips and highly recommended them. When it became clear around October 2020 that things were unlikely to open up, David, Chelsea, and the rest of the team worked with me to get refunds for our seniors who would be aging out of the trip and move the trip to April 2022. That process was done smoothly, and I did not hear any complaints from the parents. They continued to work with me to get things rolling for Spring Break 2022, and we just returned from a great trip to Southern California. There was one small vendor issue that they didn't catch in time to correct directly, but they were able to help us with alternate plans that I think ended up working out better. They really showed their worth when a certain airline, blaming pilot shortages, canceled the first leg of our return trip two days before we were to come back. Kris stepped in and worked with our trip leader to communicate the changes with me. Ultimately, we ended up needing to stay an extra day, and needed a charter bus to get us back to our small town, but they took care of the logistics. It felt like a bonus day to the students (evening at the beach!) rather than a nightmare. All of our chaperones were also impressed with the work the company did on our behalf and offered to join our next trip in 4 years (even though their own kids will have graduated by then!). We will definitely plan to use them again. read more

I am extremely disappointed in the customer service and refund given when our trip was canceled due to the pandemic. My son and I were both planning on attending with his Junior High band to visit and perform at Disneyland. In the week before we were to leave the pandemic struck California. All aspects of the trip were canceled by vendors, with finally Disneyland closing. Yet they are keeping 1/3 of the moneys paid for a trip that was impossible to take. They also did almost no communication to the parents in the week prior or after. VERY DISAPPOINTING! read more

The entire process of planning our Hawaii Performance Tour was fantastic through EDT! They were awesome to work with and helped create a trip for us that was amazing. David Selcon was great in the planning stages, Chelsea Harmon was super helpful with organizing logistics as we got closer to the trip, and our tour guide Ed was a lot of fun while we were in Hawaii. EDT was such a great company to tour with. I had to switch tour companies and could not be happier with my decision. From the start, they listened and made sure we had everything we requested. From my initial inquiry with Jenny B. to the ongoing planning with Leah Y., everything was great. Communication was always fast, and even with being on opposite coasts, responses were quick. Their professionalism and written communications to share with parents and guardians helped lighten my workload. Their website is easy to use and always updated with new registrations and traveler information. The bus company provided was excellent as well. Our tour guides continued with professionalism and care for our students making sure everything was in order. Monica, Dawn, and Tom were always five steps ahead to ensure a smooth trip. The hotel was clean, it was in a great location, and the employees were kind to our students. I highly recommend EDT as I could not ask for a better company to work with. The culmination of our 8th Grade American History was a trip to DC and Gettysburg. For our trip, we used EDT, and we will definitely use them again in the future. Our plans came together rather last minute, but EDT was very helpful in processing all the payments. The trip itself was amazing! We had incredible bus drivers and tour guides. As the coordinator for the trip, what I most appreciated was that everything was handled by EDT. I didn't have to worry if something fell through or there was a mistake on a form or if we had to come back to the White House at a different time. If I could give them zero stars, I would, as they provided absolutely nothing and still have our money. We paid in full for my son and myself to take a trip to Sacramento and gold country with his fourth grade class. The trip was to take place in April and the company canceled the trip due to the pandemic. The only time they communicate about refunds is if we contact them first, no attempts on their part to communicate their plan for refunds. Now it is October and has been more than 6 months since they canceled the trip and not a single penny of refund has been received. Now they are saying they are keeping part of the money as non-refundable, despite the fact that it was them who canceled, not us. Also still no timeline for repayment. So they sit there holding on to hundreds of dollars for each student for a service they never provided. We have been very patient but six months, with no end in sight, is ridiculous. read more

My students have enjoyed every trip with educational discovery tours. They provided us with easy ways of organizing, planning and paying as a class B school. We just finished our third trip with the company. The trip leader was an amazing person who enhanced the students travel experience. The team we worked with made sure even the smallest detail was taken care of and flexible with any changes. Without the normal headaches, this company makes the director job easier! read more

Our high school band trip to Disneyland was cancelled because of Covid. EDT refused to give a full refund but rather promised a partial refund to our 100 teen participants and their families within 4-6 weeks from the trip. We have yet to receive that refund months later. We are being told they are waiting for a refund from Disney to pay us back, which is doubtful. The band students worked 2 years raising funds for this trip and then experienced such great disappointment in the cancellation. It's unfortunate now that EDT is adding to that disappointment rather than trying to make it right. I would never trust them with my money again and suggest others think twice before doing so. read more

Let me just say we bypassed a local company with 30+ years experience to work with EDT. We have had 2 trips and are currently planning a third with our leaders Jenny and Leah. They have made the whole planning process simple and stress-free. They are available whenever I need to ask questions or have an idea for our trips. I feel safe and comfortable leaving our trip in their hands. Once the process of planning is complete, I am more like a trip promoter- getting kids and families excited (as well as myself!) and giving reminders and updates. Leah and Jenny and the EDT staff take care of the rest- payments, insurance, etc. Our trips have been smooth and worry-free; Once we leave and meet our trip tour guide, I can hand over the reigns and hang out for a wonderful time. If you are thinking of doing a school trip (We take our 8th graders to Washington, DC) don't hesitate to work with EDT. Ask for Leah and Jenny. My son's group tour was cancelled due to the pandemic over a year ago. EDT still has not refunded me any of the money that I paid. Do not believe anything that this company says. Initially, they told me not to dispute the charges with my credit card company because they could process the refund faster. That was a year ago. Now, of course, it is too late to dispute the charges with the credit card company. read more

This company cancelled our tour. Then they said since it was past the cancellation timeline, they would only give a partial refund... even though THEY cancelled the tour. Then they came back and said that due to the "lockdowns", they wouldn't be refunding anything. This is unacceptable. A reputable business gives refunds, and THEN deals with their vendors. I had to get my credit card company and the Better Business Bureau involved. Don't advertise yourselves as a reputable business, and then refuse to give refunds to school groups. I'm a single mom who worked my butt off to sign my son up for your tour to Chicago, only to have it cancelled and then you keep my money?????? read more

Had an awesome time with EDT for our trip to NYC with a group of music students in April 2013. Our guide was really flexible, structured yet kind - loved her! The bus driver was perfect too - very timely and interactive / friendly with students. Loved all the activities they had us do - hard to believe we packed that many things into the time we were there - Opera, musical, Gospel brunch in Harlem, Birdland, museums, workshops, performance, shopping, got seen on the Today show. David Selcon our organizer was so on top of everything in the planning stages all year long with helpful suggestions and encouragement. We took a year off of doing a major trip but are working with EDT again for a Florida trip in April 2015. I am a music teacher from a tiny school (250 total students K-12) in rural Oregon and I am very pleased with the job EDT did in helping me plan, prepare and accomplish the trip. Went with my daughter on the California history tour to Sacramento. The trip was great except for the bus driver Doug. Doug yelled at the 4th grade kids twice, including telling them to shut up. If he has a problem with the kids he should have talked to the teacher or parents. His behavior was unacceptable. read more

We went participated in the California/Disneyland trip from 3/24/18 through 3/2718. This was an excellent experience for the kids that were on this trip!!! The money that we fund raised and paid for out of pocket was well worth it! The team we had were very well organized and kept us on track the whole trip from the moment we landed at the airport until the moment we departed at the airport. As a chaperone and someone who had a child on the trip, kudos to Educational Discover Tours for creating such an awesome experience for our group! read more

After the field trip, tried to contact the customer service rep who had been working with our school and he would not even respond. We never got a refund. Yelpers, see the review in 2015... sounds like it was the same surly, rude tour guide we had back in 2009, so not too much has improved at EDT. read more
