I have been going to Edward Carrier Salon for close to 2 decades, and have always left well taken care of. impeccably clean, and professional. I go to Aimy for my hair cuts, and always receive compliments, even from complete strangers. Her advice is to bring pictures of what you 'do' want as well as pictures of what you 'do not' want. She feels, and I agree, that what you don't want is probably more important. Don't expect your stylist to read your mind, and you will never be unhappy with the results. That being said, asking for a consultation prior to your actual cut, gives the stylist a chance to understand your hair and your expectation, so she can discuss it. read more

If you want to have a flattering haircut, DO NOT GO to Edward Carriere Salon. I went to this salon yesterday (April 19, 2021). I saw a Stylist named Caroline, although calling her a stylist is a misnomer. I'm sure she found her licence at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box. I told the woman I wanted something short (about 1 inch all over), sassy and it makes me look 30 years younger. She gave me a brush cut. Does Caroline not know the length of 1 inch? If not, why not? The only good thing is that I know my hair grows fast and because of the pandemic I don't have anywhere to go. What really ticked me off is that their machine would not allow me to pay just the amount of the hair cut. I HAD to give a tip. That makes me angry. I would normally give a tip - I just don't like being told I HAVE to give a tip. In this case, Caroline did not deserve a tip. Tips are for people who give good service. She did not. So, for those reasons I will not go back to this salon. read more

The Salon uses the widely celebrity adorned hair products manufactured by Bumble & Bumble, specialty combs and brushes, among other items. This is a full service hair salon. Appointments are professionally booked and your information is stored in a database for future reference. For mens' haircuts, I recommend Matt. He is a younger professional with a modern eye for style and grace. Although he doesn't trim beards/mustaches (sadly), he takes his time to ensure you are completely satisfied. I went there as a woman at a salon in Kansas City Missouri who lived up here awhile recommended it. I asked for someone who could do a real precision cut, someone with experience. I just paid $45 in Kansas City to have a disappointing cut that left me with nothing I wanted, plus an entire wasted morning. I was given Paul, who I was told was the senior stylist. I arrived with a minute to spare. Parking in the rear is a huge help. The building is a house on the end of a residential neighborhood. There are products for sale on every level. The service was helpful enough & I was asked if I wanted a beverage, and had a hot green tea in a paper cup, not fancy but it's hot tea and good enough. It was on Friday afternoon at 2:00. The place was packed and mostly middle aged and older women clients, but plenty of 20-30-something clients also to keep it mixed up. I saw a truly great looking older woman hair cut & style go out the door. Paul listened to me & looked at the couple of photos I showed him, and he did exactly what I wanted, to perfection. It kinda took my breath away how effortlessly he did it. I have several cowlicks, and lots of fine wavy hair that isn't doing as well in a long style as when I was younger (I'm in my mid-50's). Paul did a style that was as "precise" and stylish as a couple of top-rated stylists I saw who were rated in the "Best Of" in Dallas and Kansas City. He took out bulk, make the hairline tight around my ears, kept the back hairline from looking too severe, and had the bangs _exactly_ like the photo and my description. He gave his thoughts on my current color & highlights. I usually look for L'Oreal Professional hair color, but might try the brand they use there (I'm going to keep going to him, and if he keeps doing the same quality of work, I'll always have a good hair day. read more

The assistant did a lovely job of meeting my requirements and I got exactly what I asked for. A senior stylist came in to review the work to make sure it met excellent standards. AVOID AT ALL COST !! I paid 175 dollars for a regular cut and highlights. I like the colour but the cut is the worst ever. Not straight at all !! This place is a factory. Lot's a people everywhere, 5 persons taking care of you, lot's of waiting time (I got cold waiting in the waiting room with my heair all wet after the shampoo....they probably put some gold in my shampoo for this price!) You feel like a number and the stylist was slow first then rushed me out, that's probably why she completely messed up my simple cut (Eventhough she said she works here for the last 16 years, she didn't seem to know what she was doing and prefered to dry my hair first before cuting it resulting in the worst cut ever !). I used to be a regular customer for years untill the performance just keep going down and down... i called the lady and told her i wanted my roots done since my hair were fried but she still put me in for highlights.... they did this not once but 2 times! ... what must a customer say when they say i want my roots done and not my whole hair coz its fried? ... anyways... i get there at 9 am and the appointment was at 10... 1 hour earlier... and she still was not able to complete the colouring on time... had to leave without the toning done despite coming before time. on top of that the colourists attitude was snobbish and uninterested... an expensive mistake but my last mistake. after that i had another appointment booked for july 22. but i called in and cancelled all future appointments... next time if you charge your customers 100's try to look more interested in your job. read more

I went to see Cory last week and I have to say that it was the worst haircut experience I have ever had in my life. For a mere 252$ for a cut and highlights, one would assume that it would be an amazing haircut. Regrettably, that was not the case - not even close. In addition to being completely dissatisfied with my service, the management doesn't care enough about their clientele to return a phone call. The same can be said for the staff. While I am young and appear not to be of the wealthy clientele they're targeting, I can assure you that I scrimp and save so that I can afford a decent haircut and I walk into their salon, only to be ignored by their staff. It's the most frustrating thing to have clerks sitting and assuming that because of my age I don't belong there. I hate the atmosphere and while I have only been twice, I have never been more uncomfortable in a situation in my entire life. Whether it be the pretentious clientele, the staff who are relentless with their selling techniques (because clearly I didn't waste enough money there) and the poor quality of service, I will never be back. I had my hair cut by Cory once before and, I will admit he did a great job. That said, my experience last Wednesday was not so. I asked for blonde highlights. Blonde, not brass, which is current colour of my hair. At least when I dye my hair with product I've bought at the drugstore, it turns out the colour I expected. Because after he had put in the colour and let it process he told me "So it's going to be a darker blonde than you were expecting. But it's all part of the process of getting you back blonde". Part of what process? The only thing that got processed was 250$ on my debit card. My bangs are still too long and I walked out of there without a blow-dry - despite my having booked one - so I had no idea what colour my hair was or how the cut looked. Apparently 3 hours was not sufficient time to accommodate me. In my opinion, that is not my problem. You're offering a service and if I'm paying a significant amount of money, I should at very least be happy with the results. More so, the 34$ "haircut" portion was considered by him a "quick trim". I'm sorry, a quick trim? That's not what I signed up for. I had to return from my hair cut and fix my hair before I was even presentable to go out for the evening - not exactly what one would have expected from a 250$ haircut. When I called the management to complain, they refused to call me back. I guess they don't need my business and that's good because they will certainly never be getting again. I gave this place three tries, two cuts and one color with less than stellar results. In my twenties, I expected something fresh from my stylists, instead, I ended up getting the frumpiest cuts known to man. I'm new to Winnipeg so tried Edward Carriere for the first time, thinking it would be a safe bet. It's hard to criticize a salon on the basis of one hairdresser, but my cut was totally the pits. Actually the worst cut I've ever gotten. The hairdresser seemed to have no vision at all - someone holding scissors just cutting different parts of my hair. Ended in a boring but also really technically poor cut -seemed she had no idea how it would look as a whole (and I wasn't going for anything unusual) and the overall effect is really disjointed and out of proportion. Anyhow, the salon itself was vibrant and fun and the people were nice. But really. Awful, clumsy-looking cut, and the hairdresser seemed to have zero creativity or vision. read more

I had came here for a hair colour to go ombre once. The stylist sat down and I showed her the pictures and colours I wanted. She told me it would take two sessions and cost $160. When the hair was done I was not happy with the results. Unfortunately my hair did not go blonde it went a subtle orange which is ok since thats why we set up two appointments. The problem I had was the ombre did not flow with my hair- which I was very specific with. Then she told me it was $160 PER session but to my understanding and her wording it was all together. I was not happy and spoke with management and set up a time for another appointment with someone else. It still didn't come out to the blonde I wanted but it was less choppy and she brought the ombre down a little bit too (since I was also unhappy with how high it was). I looked up some home remedy treatments to help make my hair less orange such honey and vinegar, lemon, and other DIY ideas I found online. Of course, some of the dye used to blend my hair had faded since I wash my hair with a purple shampoo now and brought back some of the choppy bleach from the first time. So after awhile of hating how choppy it had become and my job being dissatisfied with my hair since I work in a professional environment, I recalled to make another appointment to fix this mess. I went in and took my messy frizzy hair out of my bun and the lady said that this wasn't what she did to my hair (which it was) and accused me of going out and getting it redone somewhere else. (which is ironic because the dark colour they put over the original choppy bleach had worn through). I was appalled that she would accuse me of re bleaching my hair. I'm a student working to pay off debt and I can truly only afford to do this one time and I had saved up for this. I came in to find a way to help make the blonde look less choppy, and ways to make my hair look less damaged. Her solution was to dye my head the colour it was before. I was hesitant because I truly loved the blonde. So thats what we went through with. She asked if I had an agreement with the manager and I said I wasn't clear on what it was and I thought thought this was a fix up. So I tipped her well and was on my way. 2 days later my mother calls me because apparently the manager had left a voice mail on my home phone answering machine with personal information about the visit saying "we have decided that this wasn't out job and you can pay us or just never return". I was appalled. They have my cell phone number and they didn't even bother to call me. Instead, the left a PERSONAL message on my family home line (might I add, I only am there 25% of the time since I live with my boyfriend somewhere else). I was absolutely disgusted that they would "tattle tale" and bring my family into this. I am a 20 year old independent student. And if their excuse is that they cannot find my cell number, they should have just asked me to call them, not leave a personal message on my family answering machine for my entire family to hear. Like I was under the impression from everything that was said that the service was covered as a fix up (otherwise I would have not gone and lived with my hair) and under the circumstances would have went back in to pay if the management was mature enough to give the client (not her mother or family) a call. I'm absolutely disgusted that they would do such a thing. Plus the service there isn't great anyways. I am absolutely disgusted with the management at this salon and would tell you to avoid at all costs. read more
