To start with, this guy refuses to use Epic or integrate with it in any way--the system that everybody else uses. This means that none of my other doctors can see anything about my history with him--no blood tests, no notes, no diagnoses and it makes it very hard on all my other providers and me. I had my primary care physician say to me that he hadn't seen a blood test for me for years and I have one every 6 months! Every time I need this data shared I have to call his office, talk to somebody in records and give them the information of the doctor to share records with and they don't often actually do it. I had to hand him my phone with the John Muir health app open so he could read notes from my cardiologist after I specifically called his office before my appointment and told them to give him the notes from the same cardiologist. Even more annoying, the in-house labs kept charging me copays then also sending me a paper bill for like $2 after the fact. I get the same tests every time, why can't you figure out what this costs and charge me all at once instead of wasting my time paying paper bills. I got fed up with that and went to a lab on the 2nd floor of the same building but because he doesn't play well with Epic I have to hand deliver paper orders--what is it 1985? Even worse, I was left for over an hour sitting in the exam room on 2 separate occasions because he was "busy". I only see this guy once every 6 months so the ratio of him being on time vs extremely late is pretty sad. The final straw was that he and his staff checked me into a virtual appointment and then I guess they forgot about me because 90 minutes later I call the office from my phone and its closed! I get the answering service to get him on the line and he acts like he had no idea why I was scheduled to see him--dude, you asked me to come to this appointment! I have never been so disrespected by a doctor.

Witnessed discrimination against patient with disabilities. The second the RN saw the patient, she…read morewas rolling her eyes, complaining, had a major attitude. The team explained that they called multiple times ahead of the appointment to explain the condition, what exactly would be needed and ensure it was an appropriate setting. The doctor scheduled to conduct the procedure had already evaluated the patient in-person and personally referred them to this center for her to complete it. Patient did absolutely nothing wrong, other than needing some assistance from their team, and a full team was present to work with them to ensure the Sutter staff didn't have to worry about anything. The RN immediately complained and was openly talking negatively about the patient in the hallway so the team denied service without even trying or consulting the patients team. Even after the reiteration that the procedure was urgent due to life threatening concerns and having a history of successful procedures with no issues, they refused service based on the fact they had disabilities that they were well aware of ahead of time. Very disheartening to see professionals in a field meant to help others be so discriminatory and hateful.

Elaine the office scheduler is horrible and incompetent. She does not understand what medical care is. Even for situations they can easily handle telephonically to expedite what may be an emergency they will instead refer you to urgent care or the emergency room to wash their hands clean of your issue. They like to get you in as much as possible so they can collect your copay and insurance pay even when they don't need to. Dr arenas is always unavailable. They take days and sometimes weeks to return your call but will cancel on you the same day even hours before your appointment. If you want a study relationship with a caring doctor and doctors office go elsewhere.
