If you are looking for an honest mechanic here it is. Not many people still live by the code, "An honest days work, for an honest days pay," but here at Egan Auto repair you have a man/owner who believes in this code. Mr. Egan is a straight shooter who does not try to inflate prices to be the richest guy in the world, he in fact is the most wealthy person I have met in a long while because he has integrity and shares his belief with his son who also works here. In a world of takers Mr. Egan seems to be one of the silent angels out there who takes care of people in their darkest moments. When he is done with his work he is not sitting in his office trying to figure out how to squeeze a couple extra bucks out of his clients, instead you will get a phone call, a simple explanation to the repairs and an honest bill. I ended up tipping his business 3 x's the bill just to pay tribute to a man who is indeed that, a man, a real American man with morals and a sense of fairness. It's been very hard locating a mechanic since the relocation to Las Cruces a few years back. I won't go into the horror stories I've had with a couple. Keith at Egan Automotive is a throw back to honest mechanics you used to find in your hometown as a kid. Reasonably priced, service usually in a day, great guy to visit with and usually a classic car or two he's fixing up on the lot. He put new brakes on my truck and didn't "brake" my bank account. I live in Denver and my son is in Las Cruces. I always do everything myself when it comes to car repair/maintenance but when your son is 10 hours away that does not work. Based on the symptoms it indicated his car had an alternator issue which in most cars is not a big deal but in a Lincoln MKX/Ford Edge it is really problematic as this things is buried and hard to replace. So next task was to find a mechanic that could help him and I was not expecting much as there are plenty of horror stories especially when dealing with dealerships as they seem to write with brooms vs pens. Based on local reviews I called Egan's auto repair as the review all focused on honest, personal, knowledgeable reasonably priced and did I mention honest and nice people. WOW WOW WOW what a fantastic experience this has been. It started with the first call where I explained the situation and if they could help my son soon as he was trying to get home this week. The kindness and empathy came through loud and clear and that continued throughout the day by taking care of my kid like it was their own. Without asking they went as far as checking the whole system and tightening things up (neutral on battery) as another possible cause. After running that for an hour without issue he called us and stated he expected that was all it was which would make it super cheap. Because the alternator already had 145.000 miles on it I wanted to be certain and asked him if he could still go ahead and change it just to be sure as there is a lot of no man's land between Las Cruces and Denver. He was happy to do that and he got it done quickly. Cost for all this work was super reasonable (lower than I anticipated frankly) and matched the estimate. I don't remember ever having a better "car" experience and that only got amplified because they gave my son an awesome experience. I never heard of Egan's automotive till this Monday, but I am very grateful as it was an above and beyond experience which prompted me to write this review. They are a gem in Las Cruces and certainly deserve any business they get. You are not going go wrong checking them out if you have any kind of car issue. If they were in Denver, I would just stop doing this car stuff myself but have not found this type of shop here yet. read more

Mr. Egan and Steven did an awesome job getting me back up and running within an hour. I was traveling home for Christmas and needed an alternator. He installed the new one (and even tried to get it covered under warranty) and checked to make sure the new one was working as advertised. This man is truly a man of character and did a great job.
