I had the cherrywood avocado toast, featuring thick chunks of bacon, goat cheese, and a balsamic glaze on top of avocado and sourdough and WOW, this was so good. Egg Harbor! What a DG staple! And still hitting home runs since it first opened. I spent many days in my youth visiting this location and it's been years since my last experience. Felt a little like I stepped back in time when I walked in, as the décor and layout is identical to years ago. I will say it's the same Egg Harbor, but stepped up a notch. My go to has always been the skillets. Eggs and your choice of topping layered or the harbor potatoes - the best. Another thing I love about Egg Harbor is the fact they offer goat cheese and therefore I'm able to order my favorite combo of ingredients. The coffee is strong and lattes are delicious. We went with a group of 6 and everyone walked out raving about their meal. This place is always hopping on the weekend but they are a well oiled machine and get you in and out promptly. Extremely disappointed in the menu change. Now the signature potatoes are fried in beef tallow so 3/4 of our family can't eat them (for dietary reasons but you've eliminated a food for many Hindus). Vegan sausage was taken off the menu , and the charge for gf bread is now $5... the type they buy (which is terrible anyway) is $6 for an entire loaf retail. Service was fabulous as always (5 stars). We ended up liking our skillets but it wasn't really what we wanted. I was also surprised to see the mints were no longer offered. It left us wondering if there is a financial component and they are making a last ditch effort to reduce costs. read more

I was looking for a dog friendly breakfast place on a Sunday morning. This Downer's Grove EHC showed up on the list so I called them first to make sure that they still do. So off we went to this EHC location. We were lucky (or early) enough to find a table outside. We were greeted by our server right away. We were given glasses of water on our table, plus a bowl for water for the dog. On this visit I tried: AZTEC OMELETTE- delicious LEMON POPPYSEED PANCAKE- I should have asked for the lemon icing on the side because it was too sweet for me. The pancake was dry but the strawberries were fresh. ULTIMATE SKILLET- heart and satisfying Overall, no complaints on the food and the service was friendly, attentive and efficient. For breakfast I had Gregg's Chili and Eggs which is black bean chicken chili, melted jack and cheddar cheese, tomato and green onion on top of an egg white omelette. It comes normally with an English muffin but I asked for Texas toast instead. I also got it with fruit instead of the potatoes it normally comes with. It was very good. It had a nice warm, creamy texture and very mild flavors. The crunchy toast and sweet jelly were the perfect accompaniment. The fruit serving was generous, fresh and juicy as well. Also, when you order coffee they bring you a small pot that stays on your table so you can refill it as you please. This is a nice touch I wish more breakfast places did. This was a nice breakfast place. It is tucked around the corner just one block east of Main Street by the Downers Grove train station. It is on the south side of and about 100 feet south of the Burlington RR tracks. Their dining room was spacious and very clean, and it felt like they had just recently re-opened from the Pandemic closings. The staff followed all the particular safety measures required by Covid-19 days. Service was very attentive. Food was good, even though the eggs on both our dishes were a bit overdone - a Garden Scrambler and simple Eggs and Pancakes. This Egg Harbor Cafe is off of Mochel (a brand new street east of new Arcadia on the Green building, which in turn is just south of the Metra station downtown downers grove). Head east on Curtis (one way) and you will see Mochel on the left. The Egg Harbor cafe is at the corner of Burlington and Mochel. My wife and I tried this place out on a Friday Morning. I appreciated the decent selection of Mexican inspired breakfast dishes (like Chiliquilies, Huevos Rancheros, and a Mexican skillet). I ended up ordering a Mexican my wife went with a combo plate (pancake, egg, sausage). The food was pretty good, though not amazing - basically another chain breakfast restaurant. The service, food, and restaurant reminded me of a LePeep's variation. I like LePeeps (and as such Egg Harbor) but not enough to drive out of my wife. I will take a nice long drive to Bongo Room - but not Egg Harbor. The only "really" bad part of our experience was our waitress. With almost no one in the restaurant (Friday AM not a busy day) she just wasn't there for us. I give it a 3/5 - nothing special, but nothing bad! read more

Used to live in this area two years back and used to go here every weekend. Love the polite staff, the fresh coffee and the delicious food. Our server Mike was very helpful. He made sure our 2.5 hour drive was worth the wait. Love the salads here with the poppyseed dressing. Love the harbor potatoes. Tried the egg salad/avocado sandwich today and I'm in love with it.
