Same staff, manager, menu as 20+ years ago! It's very nostalgic and nice to see that not all things have to change. not by much anyway. The chile verde omelette was fantastic. I highly recommend the flour tortillas over toast. why, you ask? they are made in-house and are freakin' delicious! The pancakes were also fantastic! I ordered the biscuits and gravy - I think these might have been the best biscuits ever! I'm not 100%'sure that I love the gravy tho. I'll have to try it again as my palate could have been a little off. Very small and cozy place with limited seating. Fast and friendly service. Street parking only, but it's usually very easy to find a spot within about a 1 minute walk. Very happy this place is back in business. Highly recommended! read more

Amazing staff, great food!! We went for breakfast and they asked if we were celebrating anything. We said yes (my son's birthday) they brought him a candle on his breakfast and sang him happy birthday. The kitchen staff even came out to sing happy birthday. Coffee was amazing. Great local breakfast spot. A throwback to the past with it's eclectic decor. It's not very big. Only has about 8 booths & one table that seats more than 4. It's not good for big groups. It does have a long counter good for parties of one or two. No reservations, it's first come, first serve. For my meal, I had an ice tea which comes in a large glass. Unlimited refills. Also, had the 2+2+2 special with two eggs over easy, 2 links of sausage, & 2 slices of French toast for $10. The plate came out pretty quickly.& was fresh & tasty. The service was great. Definitely will be a go to spot for my breakfast cravings. read more

Stopped by after our morning run and I'm so happy we did! I had the exotic omelette with soyrizo and hubby had the two egg breakfast with super browns - both were delicious! And don't get me started on the green salsa, let's just say a chef's kiss is the only appropriate expression. I am also guilty of singing along to ALL of the songs while we ate - 60s music . The service was great, but what made it special is that you can tell that this small business is near and dear to all of the staff. We look forward to our next visit!! read more

First time here, I am a regular at the Coffee Cup Cafe down the street. That place is good, this place is great! Normally an afterthought, their Coffee was hot and flavorful. I ordered Banana Pancakes, they were fluffy and tasted like they were made from scratch. Not the typical, gummy, box batter stuff everywhere else. I ordered eggs soft scrambled and bacon crispy. The eggs weren't underdone, and the bacon wasn't burnt. The Cooks here practice in precision. Would recommend. read more

During COVID, Egg Heaven is doing take-out only. Call ahead to place your order. Special Covid-19 menu online. I've only been here once and while the food was good, there was a mistake with my order. I called ahead and placed an order of a veggie burrito and a side of breakfast potatoes. The woman who took me order repeated it back to me and told me to come in 20 minutes to pick up my food. When I arrived to pick up my food, they handed me a bag with a receipt and told me the cost. I paid in cash and told them to keep the change. They were super appreciative of that. When I got to the car, I realized I had a burrito but no side of breakfast potatoes. I looked at the receipt and a side of breakfast potatoes were listed, but as $0.00. I was curious and peeked in the burrito. Yep, the breakfast potatoes were inside. Okay, a little misunderstanding-- not a big deal. Once home, I started to eat the burrito and thought I tasted bacon... in my veggie burrito. A few more bites and it was confirmed-- bacon and sausage! I'm not a vegetarian, so it was a "bummer" moment, but not terrible for me. I can only imagine how frustrating this experience would have been for a vegetarian, though. While it wasn't what I ordered, the burrito was good and I finished the whole thing. Pro tip: check your food before leaving the restaurant to make sure you end up with what you ordered. Cash only. Street parking can be limited, but drive around for a bit and you'll find something nearby. I'll definitely try this place again and want to continue to support local businesses. read more

I cannot speak highly enough about the experience at Egg Heaven. It's a cozy cafe with very friendly service, and the food was excellent. My partner got the chorizo and eggs and I got a bacon omelette, and suffice to say, we were in Egg Heaven. That's to say nothing of the speediness of service! This is the best breakfast place in Southern California. It's been around since I was very young. I used to come in with my mom. My favorite item on the menu is the San Felipe omelette. The food is excellent and generously portioned. The countertops have old newspaper, clippings, and magazine, clippings that harken back to the hippies in the 60s. It's changed very little since I was a young child and the servers are wonderful and friendly and the cooks are very talented. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Service with personality! Annd of course the food was delicious! I personally thanked the cooks for cooking with love. Our host/server Courtney was just awesome and really made us feel welcomed, she engaged with my 6yo daughter which made a sweet experience for her because children are usually ignored. I ordered the Mexican Benedict and gawd it was perfect (see picture). This may win the new top spot for local bfast diner, and I'm just happy I got to finally enjoy it after months of not knowing whether the diner is open or not, so DONT PAY ATTENTION to the CLOSED announcement on here cause I just dined here yesterday. Next time I go back will be for the pergatory eggs and I honestly cannot wait! I give Eggs heaven 4/5 stars only because they don't yet serve lattes, but honestly, the service alone is enough to bring us back regularly, but don't get me twisted, if you can taste the difference when meals are cooked with love then this diner is for you..BUT please just don't arrive between the hours of 10-11 or I'll have to wait for a seat cause that's usually my brunch hour. First time in the area and I was looking for a breakfast spot. There were a bunch of choices but Egg Heaven caught my eye. I grabbed my laptop (so I could work for a bit) and headed over. I ordered a Wanderlust Omelette. It comes with potatoes and toast (I opted for an English muffin). If my potatoes looked burnt it's because I asked for it that way. I added jalapenos to my omelette for a bit of a kick. Everything was delicious, right down to the toast. I also had Jose's Vanilla Coffee...mmm yummy. I was there for about 2 hours. I thought my waitress was going to kick me out but she kept filling my coffee and couldn't be nicer. I'll definitely be back. read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Great local time warp of a place for some down-home breakfasts. In all the years I've lived in LB I can't believe I never made it over here. It's been on this corner forever (well, the 70s) and looks it, but not in a bad way. It's small but not too cramped. It's always a good idea to get to any breakfast place early, so we made the journey down here before 9am one Saturday morning and had no problems getting a table. So I was looking for hash browns and misunderstood what they meant by "Super Browns"--it's breakfast potatoes souped up with extras like meat and cheese, not hash browns. I ended up ordering two eggs with corned beef hash, wheat toast, regular breakfast potatoes and a coffee. I must say, everything was really good, and their breakfast potatoes were outstanding! More hash brown-y than I expected, which was great! I forgot what the hubby ordered but he enjoyed his breakfast as well. Portions were generous, prices reasonable, and the service friendly. I stopped by on the Friday after Thanksgiving at around 10:30 AM. Was surprised that I was able to walk right in and find a seat at the counter. Greeted right away. Ordered an All American Omelet and a side of biscuits & gravy. Omelet was huge and full of meat and cheese. Cooked perfectly. Very good. The accompanying potatoes however - not good. Cooked with a nice crust, but had absolutely no seasoning. I don't know if you have ever eaten a plain potato, but I wouldn't. The biscuits were smaller than I was accustomed to. They were more similar to rolls than biscuits. The gravy was a light brown color and tasted a little burnt. All that being said - I ate the whole thing. There was something about them that kept having me take another bite. read more
