Extra star because it's in San Ramon! I have never tried this chain before but it was a treat to give it a try this Sunday morning. We tried the Hawaiian egg sandwich, the Ultimate with some tater tots and waffle fries. For drinks we tried the iced Cafe Late and the Mint Passion tea. Tater tots and waffle fries were nicely seasoned (if a bit salty) and super crispy, kids loved them. The Hawaiian had a fried egg and spam with arugula-- the spam and egg were great, but the arugula, while an intriguing ingredient didn't contribute any flavor and provided a pretty soggy mouthfeel. The Ultimate egg sando was pretty epic with avocado and bacon, except for the fact that the scrambled eggs were already cold when we got the sandwich. The Hawaiian sandwich was still piping hot in comparison. The hot sauce that they serve is pretty terrible, would prefer that they don't serve this, or find something with more flavor. This sauce is just vinegar and spice, pretty tasteless. For togo, I'd recommend not buttoning up the bag so much, in the tradeoff between hot+soggy and cold+crispy I would take cold and crispy. This is pretty good. I like Egg Happiness better but it's a different category. I feel like I can make this myself but for the convenience, speed, and price, this is a solid pick. Also, the Chic sandwich is huge! I've had better chicken and I've had better eggs but the value is great. The Eggy special is good but a little small. Small cafe located in a shopping plaza. Ample parking. Its a small store so theres only two two-seater tables inside but there is ample benches outside. Great to grab on the go. Located in the corner of the Safeway shopping center in San Ramon, it's definitely a place to check out for a protein rich breakfast on the go. I ordered the Scramble with bacon. I ordered the banana coffee with oat milk, but I don't believe I had gotten oat milk in it, but it was still pretty good. Ok I got the hawaiin morning delight. Ordered through yelp. Picked it up no problem. Bread was really fresh sandwich was tasty with the spam, arugula, and special sauce. I enjoyed my sandwich but dang $15 for a thin slice of spam and one egg? Just a bit too pricy for me to come back. I just got a response from the business apparently ordering through Yelp is the same as ordering through door dash. Door dash is a 20% higher price. Door dash is the ripoff not egghead sando. I was super excited to try Egghead and hopefully find a new local breakfast favorite. I was especially keen on trying the Eggy special which is similar to the Eggslut item in Vegas and we also tried the chic sandwich, tater tots, matcha coffee latte, and brown sugar hojicha latte. The eggy came in a glass jar that was too narrow to dip the bread in and was pretty bland. The tater tots were so greasy and the chic sandwich was unusually proportioned. The piece of popcorn chicken was twice the length of the bread and made for the most awkward bite. Drinks-wise, the hojicha latte was so sickeningly sweet that I had to take it home and pour milk and ice to make it drinkable, and we didn't care much for the matcha coffee latte. Overall, the only thing good here was the chicken itself- it had the right flavorful breading. If they sold popcorn chicken as a standalone item, they'd have something to brag about. Outdoor and indoor seating is available (though it's smaller inside so recommend finding a table outside) first come first serve. I came here on opening day a few weeks ago but they JUST closed at 3 pm. Finally came today and I was HUNGRY, having skipped breakfast. When I initially read the name of the cafe, I was expecting sandos like the crustless Japanese style milk bread with the diced hard boiled egg salad filling or the pork cutlet sandos. But this wasn't the case as their sandos are more like "burgers" sandwiched between 2 brioche buns. The egg salad that they DO have is the green leafy kind, topped with egg and other toppings. Onto to my experience... The gal at the front was very helpful and enthusiastic about the menu options. She gave great recs and her favs. I ended up getting the Eggy as it was the most unique item. Also one of their specialty items. I wanted one of their drinks as they caught my eye. Pineapple Cucumber Green Tea straight, with no add ons. The taste and flavors of pineapple and cukes balanced ea other out. The tea is brewed in house and had the right amount of boldness, not bitter at all. Eggy comes in the cute mason jar that has mashed potatoes topped with a perfectly creamy poached egg, bacon and chives. You spoon out the goodness and spread it on top of the grilled Baguette slices. I wished for more carbs at the end but was happy to finished the rest up, licking the spoon to the last bite. Hubs ordered The Chic as he likes all things fried, especially chicken. It tasted just like the popcorn chicken batter they serve at boba cafes. He got an iced hojicha latte with honey boba. He said both lacked flavors. Chicken needed more umph or seasoning. Chipotle sauce was alright. The tea was lacking boldness and Boba was a bit mushier side. Our order came out fairly quick and had a nice flow of new customers trying the cafe for the 1st time. On our way out, we ordered something to take home for my DD to see what she thought of The Chic. Not gonna lie...The Chic is pretty big. 2 thick cuts of breaded chicken, an egg, arugula, sauce. It would be easier to eat it with more of fork and knife unless you have a wide mouth. I'd definitely come back again and try other items like their Hawaiian, their tator tots or waffle fries. It would have been nice if they had the (hard boiled) egg salad that I had my heart set on. This was a really solid egg sandwich. Delicious and flavor packed. I ordered the orange/carrot/apple juice and it was not that good. I think the outdoor seating should be upgraded especially for the amount of people that could be waiting or eating there. The reason for my star deductions is because we waited maybe 40+ minutes for our order. I did not think the line was that long, there were probably a couple people ahead of us and the wait was still pretty lengthy. They didn't offer to take my order until I asked if I could place my order. I felt awkward and when I tried to place my order, the man didn't know how to use the POS system. Then another man that was sitting outside came in and took my order. I didn't feel comfortable taking pictures inside since it is really small. Not good. Spent $25 for two scramble sandwiches and I was shocked at how low quality the food was. The bread was somehow dry and soggy at the same time. Eggs were flavorless, the slice of cheddar cheese was not melted, and there were about 6 little chives in the middle of the bun. The sauce was ok but was your run of the mill chipotle mayo. I got the B.E.C. Sandwich and the Hojicha Latte. There are so many good items, but I knew I needed to get one that would be good to take home as I wasn't going to eat it right away. The B.E.C. had a good amount of thick cut bacon, sometimes you get a sandwich and the bacon is thin and barely there. In this sando, it was a couple thick slices of smokey bacon. I totally enjoyed every bite. I can't wait to come back to try their other sandwiches. The Hojicha latte was also very good, you can taste the hojicha flavor. Honestly blown away by this place. It's a one-of-a-kind food for the Tri-Valley, you'd have to drive 45 minutes south (without traffic) to get anything close. The flavor is out of this world, both the fried chicken (I got the Chick) and the waffle fries were so crispy and juicy at the same time. The matcha latte is better than what you can get at any cafe which is pretty insane to me. And the portions are HUGE for the price. Went on a weekend morning and got some egg sandwiches. Definitely a smaller setup which is fine but not the easiest place to find. Exterior windows were filthy. I get it, you're in a strip mall but jeez, it won't kill you to clean the nastiness on the windows or the sill. Sandwiches were just okay. Wish they were better but they weren't. I came here on the Grand Opening special day, where they had the buy 1, get 1 50% off on ALL items. I was excited to try egghead nearby. This is walking distance to my house. So I decided to walk here with my two little toddlers. When I arrived, it was crowded, there was a long line. I figure since we made it here, we'll wait in line to order. I waited probably around 20 minutes in a line to purchase food on a kiosk. I ordered 6 items, 2 specialties, 2 chics and 2 tater tots. After purchasing on the kiosk, I had the option to scanning a QR code to see my receipt and the status of my order. There was also a post it on the kiosk saying current wait time is 40 minutes. After checking my status on the website, it seemed promising my food would be done within a reasonable time as I moved up the queue quickly. However, I was #1 (next in line) for probably 20 minutes. I was #183 but I heard numbers in the 190s (191, 192, etc) be called. I waited a little bit longer and still nothing. I decided to approach the front staff to ask and all they said to me was it'll be a little longer. No further information was provided - they were unable to say what else was pending, what they were waiting for or why my order was taking longer and people who ordered in front of me were done. I heard 196 and even 194, suggesting that at least 10 people in front of me received their food over mine. This was a very frustrating experience as I had two little ones that kept telling me they were hungry. I've been waiting more than 40 minutes, close to an hour just the food after I placed the order. We were probably here close to 1.5 hours. I stood there waiting for my food for awhile so I observed and watched the front staff packed food. I felt like the two front staff employees were lacking in their customer service, I don't know if they were attentive and able to truly provide quality customer service on this crazy busy day. I don't feel like they were able to tackle the crowd and take initiative. I was very disappointed with my response about my wait time and found at times, they seemed like they were "standing" around waiting. I saw handful of bags just waiting for their patrons to pick up but I don't know if they repeated the #s again. I did not hear them try to find the "owner" of the food. Take for example, In-n-out is a busy establishment but they move more quickly and efficient than these EggHead employees. Once we received our food, we realized the seating was limited. The indoor seating is 2 small tables which are occupied by waiting patrons. There are two tables outside and there are public benches/tables. One of the public table had bird poop so we were limited on seating and where to eat. We decided to try a tater tot before going home to eat. To my surprise, my tater tots were lukewarm and a little soggy. I waited more than an hour to get non-fresh food? I was a little frustrated with my tater tots. Overall, they weren't bad but they definitely were piping hot or fresh - I would expect it to be better if I had to wait so long. I did enjoy the specialties, the mason jar was a little greasy on the outside but that's okay. I enjoyed dipping the sourdough slices into the specialty. I realized the dish comes with 4 slices of bread and there's an option to order more bread, but wish the actual dish came with more bread to enjoy the specialty! For the chic sandwich, I really like the taiwanese-style chicken, basically reminds me of taiwanese popcorn chicken I get at boba shops. It was definitely a very big piece of chicken. However, I felt like it was a little dry and overcooked. I did enjoy the seasoning on it. I am not sure what I thought of the arugula though, I may skip it next time. It came with an overhard egg which was no problem for me. I also don't know if I cared for the sauce that came with it. I realized I don't think I particularly care for the chic, it didn't quite come together for me. Overall, I felt the food I had was overpriced and lacking. It didn't wow me with the lukewarm tater tots or overcooked chicken. Parking here is pretty easy since it's shared with the large shopping center with CVS/Safeway. At times, I almost just wanted to go to Orient Express next door to get food instead. I am a big fan of Orient Express. Tempted to recommend Orient Express over this place, honestly. I came back the following week to get breakfast for myself and my coworkers and we did not regret it! I got the Iced Matcha Coffee and the BEC sandwich. Iced Matcha Coffee was 10/10, you could tell that the Matcha they used is top tier quality. It literally fueled me to get through work lol..
