i'm not sure what all the hype is about unless you've never had pancakes and eggs at a breakfast house. eggs are just that, eggs, nothing special but i'm glad they got my OE request right. I had the turkey bacon with eggs and upgraded my pancakes with macadamia for an extra $3.95 and asked for bananas and was upcharged $3.00. overall, good but not crazy delicious that I want to roll over in my grave. coffee was average and service was fast and to the point. nothing really to complain about. I was solo and arrived around 9 a.m. (March) and there was only a 15 minute wait, WHEW! compared to the 1 hour wait when we were here last August. no way is the wait worth it, there are other breakfast places within a mile, walking distance, like The Cream Pot (slow service though but good food). read more

For breakfast around 8:45am, I joined the waitlist at 7:30am and was seated at 9:16am. At 7:30 am it indicated there were 22 groups ahead of me. There is metered parking across the street. You can also park directly across at the USPS (for a fee). I checked in with the host at 8:50am and told to wait outside for a text. Once you receive the text you go upstairs to be seated. Beware: not recommended with those with food allergies and vegetarians. This seems to be a chain restaurant, and we'd seen them all around Waikiki. There was always a line coming out the door so Jamie and I went here for breakfast one late morning. We were a little disappointed by the way the ordering process worked, but I can understand that rent is expensive so I didn't dock any stars for it; you order at the host stand, are given a buzzer and receipt to pay for your meal and stand in a line to be seated. I didn't find the quality of food here to justify the wait outside, which was only about 30 minutes around 11am. It was okay, but I've definitely made better pancakes at home. The food 3-star. The prices aren't outrageous, about what I'd expect to pay for a sit down breakfast in a touristy city. The big pitfall is the service. We were given 2 small cups plastic disposable cups for water, and the server was nice enough to suggest leaving an entire pitcher of water so we could refill with. Our food was brought out and our buzzer was taken off the table, the food was served on paper plates and we were given plastic silverware to eat with.. Eh. Not only does this restaurant not provide sit down-quality breakfasts, it doesn't provide sit-down quality service either. It was worse than "poor" but that's how the restaurant is set up. I was woken up early (7am) and decided to head out for some breakfast. Got there around 8:07am on a weekday, told a 30 minute wait, and was seated after about 27 min. We ordered the portuguese sausages with eggs over easy, and upgraded the pancakes to macadamia nut. We also got a side of spam and fresh guava juice. The spam I found too salty. The egg was good, tasted like it was cooked in coconut oil. The portuguese sausage was tasty and hearty. The upgraded macadamia nut pancakes came in a stack of three and only the top had the sugar. They were still delicious, especially with the coconut syrup. Guava juice was always good. The place is very quaint, but the workers downstairs were a bit annoying with the bullhorn- overkill. Tip - look at the menu and decide what you want while you wait, so you can order once you sit and save time. Definitely get the guava juice, macadamia nut pancakes , portuguese sausage and try the coconut syrup. Yum Some people love this place, some people hate it, but I like it enough to come back. I loved this place! It's so quaint and fun! We expected a long wait, but as we said we would sit at the counter or a table we only waited about 10 mins. We did get sat at the counter which is fine, but it is probably more comfortable at a table as we we were sat on wooden stools. Our view was obstructed by some black mesh, I assume due to the building work going on, but the sunshine made its way through so it was fine. I ordered beef hash with scrambled eggs. You then get a choice of toast, potatoes or pancakes. I ordered pancakes and I would definitely recommend this as you get 3 pancakes so a generous portion & you get the best of both worlds with sweet & savory. I chose to pay extra to get chocolate chip pancakes, but be aware it is an $3.95 extra to get a topping, which I thought was a bit steep for some chocolate chips (the meal itself only $9.95). However, I really enjoyed the meal and it really filled me up for the day. My husband ordered the macadamia nut pancakes, which he really enjoyed, but he thought I had got more pancake with my meal than he got! I can't wait to return here next time we are in Hawaii. Soon after that the server came by to take our order. I got the special omelet with Portuguese sausage, green onions, tomato and cheese. For my side dish I got potatoes. They cook most of the omelet on a pan but also bake it for a couple of minutes after that. When I got it, it was nice a fluffy and perfectly cooked! I was in breakfast heaven!! yummmoo! The homemade salsa that it came with went well with the omelet. Potatoes are probably not homemade or whatever but it's nicely seasoned and tasted almost like curly fries! We only stopped by here on a whim but we were not disappointed. The server at the front is funny and gets you in a list (because it is packed on a Thursday at 9am) - and although we waited, it wasn't bad. The condition is, once is enough. When you finally reach the top of stairs, you place your order with one person who gives you a receipt which you take to another person who pays and gives you one of those vibrating beepers. Then you wait again for your table to eat off paper plates with plastic (not biodegradable) utensils. As to the food, my dining companion's macadamia nut pancakes ($10.25) were very good and abundant. (I had a taste.) My ahi steak and eggs with home fries ($14.95) was an excellent choice. Great service, huge portions of tasty food. I had breakfast here at 8:30 am on a weekday and despite the growing lineup, was seated 10 minutes after arriving. Our waitstaff was really attentive and answered all of our questions very patiently. The waitress even kept our food covered and warm while my brother stepped away from the table. The plantation iced tea was so refreshing and my veggie omelette was filled to the brim with mushrooms, spinach and (I think) zucchini. The side of three large pancakes was extremely fluffy and made even more scrumptious with coconut syrup! My brother enjoyed his tuna steak-n-eggs. Although the atmosphere in the restaurant isn't much to write home about, the food is yummy and service friendly. Definitely not a bad spot to hit up for breakfast or brunch. read more

After hearing all the hype about eggs 'n things I had to try it out because I was in the area. I always hear about how long people wait because it is so popular kinda deterred me from going. When we went at 7:30 PM there was only a two other people waiting. We only had a party of three so we only waited for about five minutes and our buzzer rang. We were seated by the window and our table was pretty small, so small that there was stool next to us with all the condiments. It was pretty busy with all the tourist. I think we were the only locals patrons. Our server was pretty quick to take our order. I ordered the special omelet with Canadian bacon with mushroom and pepper jack cheese. The food came out quick as well. The pepper jack cheese made my omelet really spicy and the best part is that nothing was burnt. The egg was cooked to perfection. My meal also came with potatoes which were pan fried until crispy. It was really good as well. In the end our waitress put the bill on our table. We have to go up to the cashier to pay our bill. You also leave your tip with the cashier and not on the table. Pretty good place to eat but if I had to wait more than 30 minutes then it would probably not be worth it. I had been dying to try Eggs n'Things since I had peeked at their menu and saw their pancake selection. The host staff were so friendly and personable when we showed up and the wait was less than 5 minutes. We per used the menu and with the waiter's recommendation, we ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and the Strawberry Mac Nut Pancakes. The food took ~10 minutes from order to table. Crab Cake Benedict: comes with the option of rice, potatoes or pancakes. We chose the potatoes. The hollandaise was creamy and smooth, eggs were a little more medium than I would prefer, but hey, no salmonella, right? The crab cakes were definitely the star of the show. We shouldn't have even ordered more food. The potatoes were lackluster, but who cares? They were the preview to the real show. Strawberry Mac Nut Pancakes: AMAZING. The mountain of whipped cream and chopped macadamia nuts atop the strawberries - who could resist? Okay, so tbh, they were a little difficult to cut through using a fork, but that's why we have two hands. Our wait was about 20-30 minutes but we were seated on the balcony of the upstairs restaurant (prime property for the birds if you're not careful). For breakfast we ordered the coconut pancakes. Oh yes, that's right. Coconut pieces baked into the pancakes with coconut shavings sprinkled on top! This was a definite WINNING selection! Great for sharing and even better if you add coconut syrup on top! For the savory option, my husband and I ordered the omelete. spinach bacon and cheese. VERY GOOD! Overall, a great restaurant. I also ordered a side of mac pancakes. The sausages were delicious. I really enjoy the brown rice texture and the eggs you can't go wrong here. The pancakes were different. It had macadamian nuts on it. The syrups had three to choose from. The original, guava, or coconut. My favorite was the coconut syrup with a different taste than you get anywhere else. Eggs 'n Things gets points for their great service and attempt at an interesting menu, but that's about where it ended for me. The food was pretty disappointing and I was embarrassed to have taken my boyfriend and his mother here because she cares about food quality and taste. The omelet special had a very weird texture to the eggs and they were even shiny--I've never quite seen eggs like the ones they served here. The pancakes were just soso and I would recommend Liliha Bakery's pancakes over Eggs 'n Things. Also, The french toast wasn't anything special and the best thing about it was the plating, piled high with whipped cream. Like I said before, the service was excellent, but the food is not worth it. Especially if there is a line. We're lucky enough to be morning people so we were there early enough to beat the line, but I would have been even more insulted by the food if we had to wait for it. read more

The food is subpar and mediocre at best. We ordered the funky monkey pancakes, the pancakes were DRENCHED in peanut butter that ended up making me nauseous by the end of it. We also ordered the corned beef hash omelette, the corned beef hash was very watery and the omelette isn't light and fluffy, but dense and rubbery. The employees are so focused on bussing the table and pushing customers out so they can let new people in, they don't come by and ask you how you're doing, they don't check up on you not even once! No water refills, had to flag down an employee for 5 minutes before I could get a refill on my coffee. The weird thing as well is they want you to pay PLUS TIP before you get seated. Who does that! Lastly, it is overpriced for what it is. Simple plating, simple environment, and average portions do not justify the $15+ price range of some dishes. We stayed down the street in the Trump and everyday we'd drive by and see a crazy long line outside. Finally on our six day we decide to just suck it up and wait in line because it has to be worth it if that many people are spending all day in line when they are in beautiful Hawaii and could be laying on the beach instead! This place has a wait but it was well worth it. I waited about 25 minutes which wasn't too bad! The ordering pattern is so weird I have never experienced it before. First you get in line and once you wait your 25min you place your order at the top of the stairs BEFORE YOU EVEN GET INSIDE. Then they send you to another counter to pay BEFORE YOU EAT. Then you sit down in a booth\table. Now this place gives you paper plates and plastic silverware which I thought was a little strange. The pancakes/ waffles are huge!!! And really delicious. I also got the eggs and portegese sausage. The sausage was SO GOOD I really wanted to order more but I didn't want to mess up the ordering process. I would definitely go back whenever I am in Hawaii. My husband ordered a loco moco which came immediately, I ordered the vegetarian omelette, which came 20 MINUTES after my husband's plate came out. It wasn't until a busser noticed Me looking around and asked me if I needed anything.. The waitress NEVER came to refill our soda, waters, or even ask how our food was. I was warned that service here in Hawaii isn't great but I have been to other places where that simply isn't true... except here. My omelet was onions and Cajun tuna. It came with potatoes that were by far the best I've ever had. My wife got eggs and bacon with macadamia nut pancakes. Those pancakes were delicious. The eggs and bacon was very good as well. We came at 6am when they 1st opened. We heard that the place gets packed so it best to get there early. My fiance had the loco moco and she pretty much finished it even though she doesn't like breakfast and had no plan to even have a meal this morning. My omelet with potato, bacon and cheese was excellent paired with the side if fried rice I upgraded to. The cucumber salsa was good too even though I hate cucumbers. Warning, this place is a freaking tourist attraction. Every day that we stayed in Hawaii, we would walk by and see a line. I got smart, I got pager from them, was told the wait time, went to walk the strip for a little bit and came back just when they buzzed my pager. =) hehe. hmmmm.... Finding a restaurant for my boyfriend and myself is always a struggle. He is an avid meat-eater and I am allergic to life (celiac, eggs, dairy, etc...), so finding a place that has something for both of us is a huge jackpot and Eggs 'n Things was perfect. This ended up being our go-to breakfast spot because both my boyfriend and I were in love with our breakfasts. As far as I'm concerned, these guys have the best acai bowl in Waikiki. It's covered in crushed macadamia nuts, shredded coconut, bananas, pineapples, strawberries, blueberries, (and granola if you're not gluten-intolerant) and then drizzled with amazing honey. I seriously could eat this thing for the rest of my life. The acai itself is a little thicker than most places, but I prefer it have some texture over the typical smoothie consistency. My boyfriend loved their omelets and he tried a couple types and was never disappointed. Their sides were delicious, he tried the potatoes and the pancakes, and although neither of us tried the waffles, they looked awesome with towers of whipped cream on top. Big shout out to Nicole who totally stole our hearts and made our mornings every time we went. She was super friendly and just completely amazing. She made us laugh every morning and was completely reason enough to go back (as if the food wasn't enough anyway). I'm a little heartbroken we were just there for a visit and won't be back anytime soon, but I'll be dreaming of the acai bowl until then.
