Apparently we have a new addition to this little plaza here. I thought it was a dying rhino, but alas the plaque calls it a sleeping rhino. What a relief. What is it doing there? Other than sleeping? No idea. Doesn't quite fit with the classic feel of this plaza, but then again, I don't know enough about art to voice an intellectual opinion.
The rhino itself is life-sized and extremely realistic. When you are as unprepared as I was, it can startle you a bit.
The artwork itself is amazing. As I said it is so very lifelike in all ways, except for maybe the color. This is more beige, whereas an actual rhino is more gray.
It is growing on me...
Other than that, the square is surrounded by historic buildings such as the Egidien Church and even a historic statue of Wilhelm I. read more
