I wanted something with at least one good veggie option, they wanted something with meat, and it had to be somewhere in-between Camden and Canary Wharf, not too pricey, and ideally close to the city because otherwise our Italian friend probably wouldn't make it. And lo and behold.... THE FAT BEAR!!! It was all we wanted and more! This place is sort of tucked away and up some stairs above a pub. It's really just a room and a half, which makes it super cozy and they have a pretty awesome looking bar. It's got warm lighting which makes the atmosphere really nice. Their cocktails were delightful and the service was excellent. I will make a very strange observation that someone working there had a very drunk friend who just sort of made herself at home. Then more joined and it turned into me watching this table of really really drunk people trying to order food. Two of them ended up just falling asleep. It was super strange. Anyway, me being distracted aside, I really loved the cocktail I ordered- Sloe Boat To China, and everyone else seemed happy with theirs. I was dying to try the pimiento cheese starter and the fried pickles. The cheese was particularly sharp and delicious. The pickles were good, but quite skinny (I mean come on, you're in an American restaurant I was expecting some serious pickles). The vegan gumbo was super spicy and delicious. I was impressed and enjoyed it. My husband dropped the ball and ordered the regular jambalaya (with sausage) rather than the seafood one which broke my heart a little bit, because I really wanted to try it. You know, I guess that means we'll just have to come back. Oh also another bonus, this place has brisket which is really hard to find. I can't say how it tastes but my friend said he defo approves (am I becoming more British with these words, or just more annoying?) Anyway, to finish it off I had the oreo cheesecake which the bomb. I love oreos. And it tasted like oreo. So all was right with the world. A wonderful place to come if you have people who want to try American food, or if you have out of town Americans who are too scared to try other food, or if you have hungry friends that want to try cajun food, or if you just want to try some really yummy food.

Baby back ribs: not necessarily fall of the bone type of ribs, but if you give it a good tug , some of the meats will slide off its axis. I enjoyed it for what it's worth. Obviously, the smoker is limited in scope , so I'm not expecting Texas style quality. Was a little chewy in some places, but also tender in others. Had a preference for the chiptole bbq sauce rather than the hickory. Fries were mostly good (minus the tiny bits). So close to the meats, the fries absorbed some of the smokiness flavor. Slaw: low-point of the bbq. They used way, way, too much dressing. Like it was flooded. Also the cabbage wasn't cut finely, but presented as whole chunk slices. Would definitely not recommend this one. Overall minus the slaw, I enjoyed Bodean's

Very disappointing customer service via email!…read more I was issued a voucher by email on 20/01/26, but it showed an expiry date of 31/12/25 -- already expired. I contacted customer services simply to confirm whether the voucher would be valid for a booking at Holborn on 14/03/26 (my birthday), or to request a corrected replacement code if not. Despite multiple emails, the same staff member repeatedly avoided answering this very straightforward question. Literally just writing one liners! I was told "this should be fine" and "yes as it was issued 20/01/26", but there was no clear confirmation that the voucher would actually be accepted on my booking date. When I asked for clarification or for the query to be passed to someone else, I was repeatedly asked to forward the original email instead of receiving a direct answer. All I wanted was written confirmation I could rely on before making a booking. The lack of clarity, accountability, and basic reassurance has completely undermined my confidence in using the voucher at all. Poor communication and an unnecessarily frustrating experience. I'm thinking of going elsewhere!!!

Let me be your Michelle Pfeiffier circa 1978- Let's bowl, let's bowl, let's rock-'n-roll. Hey, come on, let's get this show on the road. Let's bowl, let's bowl, let's rock-'n-roll. We're sittin' on a bomb that's about to explode. Sadly lyrics alone fail to describe the true catchiness of this tune. Once it's in your head it's there all day. A-L-L D-A-Y. And so it was that a brief off hand joke about knocking over the recyling bottles with a galia melon that I was inspired, no compelled, to make a trip down to the newest All Star Lanes Brick Lane style. Being a big fan of American kitch, I was quite excited about visiting this bowling alley come diner come cocktail bar and asthetically at least it didn't disappoint. From the waitress' outfit to the old school tunes, this was 1950s Americana at it's best. I challenge anyone not to raise a smile when Go Johnny Go Go comes on the jukebox! Food-wise, All Star Lanes is pretty decent too. As well as a classic burger and steak selection, a little thought has clearly been put in to including a few posh salads and tasty pasta's. The booze menu is also fairly impressive ('Elderflower and Gin- who knew you would be such a delicious party in my mouth?') and so it was at this point that my expectations for the bowling itself were growing through the roof. Sadly it was here that I was disappointed. Having waited two hours for a lane (we foolishly hadn't booked) we were anticipating a marathon bowling session to truely establish the all time champion bowler. Twenty minutes, £13 and one game later we realised it wasn't to be. Yup, you gotta pay for these trendy surroundings! £6.50 per game, per person and a standard booking of only one game per couple- we found the whole thing a little anti-climatic. Especially after I rolled a gutter ball four times in a row... And so it is with that warning that I give a dubious Yelp recommendation. Do please go, enjoy the food and drinks, the music and quirky uniforms BUT book ahead, take your wallet and make sure you're not rushed into a one-game-blink-and-you'll-miss-it bowling blimp!

A…read morefantastic atmosphere with its ultra comfortable leather booth seats, skylight bringing in natural sunlight, even plug sockets for laptop users and free wifi. It also seems the place to watch live sports over a drink and a burger with tv screens on each corner of the restaurant yet it is still very family friendly and service has always been impeccable. In my honest opinion I do believe they serve some of the best American dishes around and can even compete with some of London's favourite diners. Wild wings (cajun) x6 Incredibly moreish and can see myself finishing a higher quantity bucket load. The wing sizes were quite average but very succulent and meaty inside. The cajun spices gave it a nice sweet paprika garlicky flavour and latched on well on the crispy skins of the wing showing that they were well fried, Sloppy Joes Ticked all the boxes for a fantastic burger. First that lovely pillow soft brioche bun, slightly charred so it came warm. Then came the rich tender minced beef fried with onions and peppers in there to give it some texture and boost of flavour. The sauce it came with was generous, with lovely rich sweet and and savoury notes keeping everything moist and juicy throughout. Finished off nicely with a fine slice of cheese, melted perfectly to intensify the umami flavours. Full rack ribs A delicious slab of ribs, keeping its meaty texture and flavours which suggest it was slow cooked the full length of time to tenderise and soften the meat. There was no pre cooking the ribs beforehand here. This allowed the rich BBQ coca cola sauce to penetrate through to the bone whilst reducing in liquid to create a rich and sticky coating around the ribs keeping everythign moist and juicy. A nice light creamy coleslaw on the side to cool things off. Curly fries These were perfectly fried. It had that moreish fluffy inside and crispy outside that was coated in the sweet mild spices which you find collapsing on itself as you chew, sending the rush of flavour through each mouthful. I say mouthful as who just pops one in their mouth per bite, not if they are this good. Chilli fries Not the spicy chilli as I imagined but chilli consisting of a wonderful well flavoured mix of red kidney beans, onions and red peppers in a lovely thick tomato slurry that helped bind the sauce and flavours on each and every chip. Drizzled with sour cream to add a lovely creamy consistency. Very wholesome dish. Sloppy suits every occassion whether it's your quick lunch or a celebration feast. Food has always been fantastic and paired with that is it's lovely bright and spacious atmosphere. Those who can eat a lot like me should definitely go for one of their food challenges. try their Sloppy Joes challenge and knock me down the top of the chart if you can.

What can I say, my country is filled with the obese and fat-loving community. I came here because I was just craving a burger and was amused by the "holy cheesemus" stuff on the outside. Not that I ordered it (Asian American, so lactose is my frienemy). I had the regular burger with a side of fries. The fries itself (crisps? No idea what the locals call it) were crunchy and yummy. When I ordered the burger, my waiter asked if I wanted it medium, and like a proper carnivore, I asked for mid-rare. Rare if it's a slab of steak (make note!). My burger came out...mid-well. It was a good tasting burger, and I didn't feel like being the jerk to send it back. It wasn't burnt or bad tasting, just not expected to get a mid-well. It even had a little flag saying it was mid-rare. It's fine...I realized during my time in London that the UK just doesn't know how to rare up meat. So at this point, I'd give a 3 star. But the manager (I learned later...) came by to grab my empty plates (points for managers who "dirty" their hands), and asked me how it was. I...hesitated and he kinda knew there was something off. I told him about the mid-rare thing and he asked if he could get me dessert or something. Being utterly stuffed, I declined and asked for the check. To my surprise, there was a 20% off. When I asked my waiter why, he said the manager took it off because of the mid-rare thing! NICE! I don't blame the Byron, as I just figure that London doesn't know how to do American-style meat temps. So, I left the "discount" as a tip. Yes, I realize UK doesn't do tips. I'm still American and they can just think I paid full price.

So they do have several locations and the one we went to was located on The Cut (ouch~). I tried the Byron and it came with a fried pickle (yum!). I also got some loaded fried to go along with it (fellow Americans - you will have to order fries with it - it doesn't just come with it like in the US). Also, get the mac and cheese - it's pretty good. I also tried their Soda Folk Cherry - very good and nice change from a regular coke.

We managed to squeeze in the 50% off deal for food before it expired at the end of January. However, when the portions arrived, not the American size I expected, it looked like we were getting less of the meal, not the full price meal at 50% off. It was good value at half the price but not for full price, it would be quite pricey for what it was and to make matters worst, when the bill came, the discount was not taken off! However, the food is actually very tasty, and there was a lot of choice. Plus a vegan-friendly menu, which was really welcomed by my friend. I really enjoyed my choice of the buttermilk fried chicken in between a warm toasted brioche bun, house slaw and chipotle mayo. I accompanied that with sweet potato fries. My friend also enjoyed his chargrilled chicken tenders marinated in coriander, parsley and chilli, served with pepper pot hot dipping sauce and skinny fries. The chargrilled swordfish steak rubbed in Cajun spices with tomato, basil & sweet onion salad, again, served with sweet potato fries, was very good too. The spicy nacho burger with spiced yellow lentil and chickpea patty, topped with chargrilled courgettes and gooey nacho vegan cheese sauce, also got a thumbs up from my vegan friend. After the meal, we went back to reception to exchange our shoes for the bowling shoes, and waited for our booked slot. Since there were only four of us, the game lasted just over half an hour, but we had a lot of fun. The atmosphere was great and easy going. I had never realised that you could have rails up so that the ball does not run down the gutters, but bounces back and hit the pins, which makes it much easier! But that was not the purpose of the game, so we lowered them down! A good evening of fun and games for groups.
