Got the to the 'Combes and lines (plural intentional) are wrapped around the building. So I went to lunch then headed back to this shop which opens at noon. Nice shop and LOTS to shop for and all of it made at monasteries around France. You name it, they probably have it. Looks small, but lots of rooms downstairs. No big bargains, but I'm always about shopping local if I can.

Slightly swept under the rug since Notre Dame's restoration…read more Just wandering through this Paris neighborhood in the 1st and stumbled on this fantastic cathedral. Built between 1532 and 1633 in an area of Paris that was once the home to the country's largest food market. (Today there's a modern mall across the street.) The original chapel was built in 1213, dedicated to Saint Agnes. It is noted for its immense dimensions, the large organ, and the great wealth of art it holds. Having just visited Notre Dame the day before, I hope Église Saint-Eustache will soon get a restoration. This is an incredible architectural achievement inside and out. And I would love to see it in its original brighter glory.

We were walking and shopping in le Marais 4th Arr and came across the English Church of Saint Paul…read more& Saint Louis. Wow! What a surprise. The High Alter and Chancel area are incredibly beautiful. I have attached some photos of it, along with the Organ pipes above the Narthex. The Jesuit architects Étienne Martellange and François Derand, built the present building at the request of Louis XIII in the early seventeenth century. LOL What makes the church important is it's Baroque style, rather then the prevalent Gothic of the time. It's introduction changed Parisian religious architecture and is exquisite to see. On PBS Masterpiece Theater's Les Misérables, Cosette and Marius were married here. Sadly like Notre-Dame, Église Saint-Paul Saint-Louis du Marais was plundered during the French Revolution when many of its artworks were destroyed. It doesn't look big from the outside, but once inside, it's huge…read more Really beautiful inside too, and I was going to take photos but instead, I closed my eyes, relaxed and prayed. That felt so good, and I felt so blessed and so much lighter afterwards. Best of all, It's a block away from the metro station, a few blocks from our hotel, and right across so many delicious restaurants, boulangerie and chocolates all in the heart of the fashion district, La Marais, Paris. Bonjour!
