Pretty good ice cream spot in town. I got the Melone, a classic Italian gelato flavor. While not…read morethe best I've ever had, it certainly wasn't the worst, with a couple of icey spots. This place is always packed with customers and the service wasn't outrageously friendly. That said, I'd get ice cream here again and I'm not really and ice cream eater.
Wonderful little cafe located in the scenic town of Oberammergau. When I arrived, most of the town…read morewas closed due to it being a Sunday, but Eiscafe Paradiso was one of the few food options available at 10:00 AM in the morning. I was not particularly hungry, but I was so glad I stopped by and tried some of their sweets! We ended up ordering the apple strudel with a side of run based vanilla ice cream and a slice of tiramisu. Both were freshly baked being brought out from what I assume was the bakery/kitchen in the back. The strudel and ice cream was divine, warm, chewy, and easily the best strudel I had so far while touring around Germany. As for the tiramisu, it was unlike any tiramisu I have ever had, as the texture was more a resemblance of a soft sponge cake. I do not mean this in a bad way either, strong balance of coffee and cake, easily could've had another piece honestly. I cannot comment on any savory dishes, but the sweets were worth it alone! Great prices, great service, and great sweets, how could you go wrong?
Pistazie. This is just 1 scoop! Yummmm!!!

Pro: Local gelato joint for the tourist. Tons of seating, takes credit card…read more Con: seating is outdoor, shading is minimal. Right next to the Käthe Wohlfahrt main store. The gem is the only relieve from the summer heat of this winter ski down... as south Germany doesn't have much AC around. Order your gelato from the booth and pickup on the next window. I see some of the local folks are ordering the vanilla ice cream with their espresso, so try out the coffee option. The staff recommended the chocolate and carmel, a bit more creamy than the gelato in United States. Highly recommended.
The receptionist at our hotel said Oberammergau had the best gelato in Germany. I haven't been all…read moreover Germany but I've had my fair share. Gelato has so much more flavor than ice cream to begin with but I gotta admit, this place was overflowing with flavor! I always get a scoop of mocha and a scoop of dark chocolate. Hey, I like what I like and it gives me a base to compare. It tasted like pure, unadulterated espresso. It was smooth; not bitter at all. The chocolate was like a cold Ritter Sport bar on a cone. 1 euro scoops? Can't beat that either! Oberammergau is a small town oozing with history. You have to come here to begin with and while you're there, stop in for amazing gelato. It's caddy corner to the musuem. Can't miss it.
