I visited here when they were open, had the molcajete on a Monday. It was not good at all, we barely touched the food. I asked the server if we could get the check and he noticed that we didn't eat very much, asked if we wanted a box. I said no, it tasted odd(apparently new cook). When we went to pay they told me it was free since we didn't eat the food. Seeing as they had great customer service for this bad food experience we gave them a second try. After a few weeks we went back and had the same meal, and it was amazing this time around. Everything was well seasoned, chicken was extra juicy, zero complaints. It was a great meal and I would recommend them to everyone. Keep up the great work guys, I've been getting take out during this recent closure and I'm never disappointed with you all. read more

Just finished our campaign fundraiser at El Agave this evening and Augustin and Irving prepared the best "finger food" for people to mingle and snack on! Beef nachos, beef and chicken quesadillas, beef enchiladas, drinks and much more! Great variety and it all tasted great! First of all the waiter that sat us down was a misogynist. The reason that I know this is because he completely ignored my wishes and would only listen to my husband. He said and I quote,"us men stick together." Then he went and talked to another server about how he is honoring machismo. The food here was mediocre at best. Honestly you could get better Mexican food at an Azteca chain restaurant. My husband ordered a taco salad and it was extremely greasy. He took most of it home for leftovers and when he went to eat it he had to throw it out because it was covered in congealed fat. The sign outside said "Mexican Dining EXPERIENCE." Definitely got the "experience." The salsa had an interesting taste, but, was made from tomato sauce and not made from fresh ingredients. They also serve a "slaw" you can dip your chips, in, interesting. I ordered the "pick two" combo lunch. I "picked" a taco and flauta, both chicken. I requested "no beans." The server acknowledged my request, but then forgot and brought beans anyway. I reminded the server of my request and the server cheerfully remedied the situation to include getting a clean plate. (I really don't like refried beans.) At this point, I was hoping to find something positive to say. Well, both the chicken taco and the chicken flauta tasted "fishy." I don't know why, but both tasted "fishy." Further, no sour cream or guacamole, perhaps those things are "extra," not sure. Kind of made the lunch a bit dry. Rice was..... ok.... not the best. Lastly, my total bill was $8.90. I asked the server if I needed to pay up front or whatever. The server said, "I can take it." So I handed the server a $10 expecting to get a dollar and a dime back. The server gave me only the dollar bill from the apron and made NO attempt to fish for a dime. So, I asked about the dime. The server said, "Oh, I'll get it." And the server got the dime in a reasonable amount of time, but I can't help but wonder if there was an attempt to extort the dime and hope I wouldn't notice. Or maybe the server was "expecting" me to say "keep the change." I hate it when it's "Expected" that you say that. I still gave the server the dollar back after all this fol de rol, but I should have only left 50 cents. There is no good place to park an RV unless you park at the fast food place next door, but even that might be dicey. I came here in a rental car. read more

Not sure why this place has bad reviews salsa is tasty! Service was solid! Margarita was strong! Food was pretty darn good not amazing but definitely not worth complaining about at all I had the Mexican trio my wife had the fajita salad my son had a kids meal quesadilla we all enjoyed our meals ! read more

This place is definitely "A-OK". The service was fast and friendly, prices seemed reasonable, and the food was decent. We all had salads (Steak Fajita Salad, Chicken Fajita Salad, and Chicken Taco Salad). Yes, I know. Who comes to a Mexican Restaurant and orders a salad? We do, that's who! It was hot and we're watching our girlish figures. And where else in town do you get a salad? Anyway, I had the Chicken Fajita Salad and it was just okay. It had a massive amount of Guacamole which I knew I'd regret later (and I was right). I thought it was a little light on the chicken, but the small amount I had was seasoned well. My dining companions enjoyed their salads, though, as well as the free chips and salsa. All three entrees and one soda came to $34 before the tip, which I think was reasonable. Overall, I can't speak for the true Mexican food, but the salads were okay. It was clean inside and the service was friendly. This would be a safe bet for an okay meal. read more

One of the best Mexican restaurants I've eaten at in a while! The service was prompt, nice waiters/waitresses. The food was delicious. The original owners reopened a few months ago. We stopped yesterday on our long long drive from Portland to Kelowna. The picadillo beef enchilada lunch was delicious and a very hearty portion. The chile verde burrito had tender, long simmered pork that was tangy with just enough kick to make it addictive. The service was attentive, we enjoyed the relaxed homey atmosphere. There is a patio when the weather is warmer. We found the dining room to be very clean. The ladies room was immaculate. We will stop here again read more

Now this was a great spot. We were craving taco salads and they did a great job! The restaurant has good air conditioning for a warm day. Marcela was our waitress and was very nice and attentive. This place has reopened and I think they should close their doors again! Chile verde came out all bones. Asked for a side of pickled jalapenos got pickled carrot and string bean. Enchiladas dry. Portions terrible. Guacamole terrible and soupy. Sent the chile verde back. To be nice we took the enchilada to go. Asked for bill. 25.00 for two pops and one refill and the enchilada. We were being nickled and dimed and grossly over charged for garbage. The manager was on break and couldn't talk to us???? read more

We only had the Molcajete (split between two people, it's a lot of food) and it was VERY tasty. Would absolutely go there again. Bacon wrapped shrimp in the Molcajete were fantastic and combined with the chipotle peppers...heaven. read more

We are so glad the original owners are back. In the last month we've eaten here twice... just to be sure it was really back... i look at the menu each time and then order my "normal" super burrito asada. Service is great. This place is the prefect "family mexican restaurant" - huge portions, good price, and great service even when the place was packed. This isn't a date spot, unique dining experience, or anything like that - it's exactly what you should expect (and want) from this kind of restaurant. I am from out of town and my entire family agrees that the next time we are in the area we will eat here. Allergy note: gluten-intolerant people must be careful; I asked for "corn-only" tortillas but (from my reaction) it, out something else in the meal, had a decent amount of flour in it. Just ate at El Agave for the first time last night. It was GREAT! Very friendly staff who really seem to care about the experience of the customer. Their chips and salsa are amazing.
