What a delightful place. Not stuffy at all. Feels like a local watering hole but not a dive bar…read more Stellar cocktail menu with fascinating background into history and recipes. Be ready to make friends, the menu literally tells you to and people act on it. Bartenders are friends and fellow patrons just as friendly.

The bar is small, unassuming and finds itself on a street filled with conspicuous, Italian restaurants hosting happy hours for corporate Swedes. The bar is a standout for the drinks, the trademark Swedish charisma and genuine warmth. As a side, shout out to Sweden for having the nicest, most welcoming people in the world. We were given a standing table when we got in, but quickly moved to a couple of seats by the bar. We were one of 8 couples at the bar, so yes, very date night vibes. For our first round of drinks, we got the Easy Martini and Let them Eat Cake. The latter was too sweet for our liking but the Easy Martini had the perfect amount of sweet and tart. Our second round was the winner with the Girl Dinner and their Old Fashioned. The Girl dinner was crafted to perfection and possibly the best version of a martini we've ever had. The old fashioned too, made with WhistlePig 10 years was fantastic. The service cannot be faulted, we profusely thanked the lovely bartender, vowing to crow about it to whoever cares to listen and to be back when we are in Stockholm next.

Bortmatch is something as rare as a sport bar actually trying to also provide a good food…read moreexperience. Being someone who appreciates good food, nice wine as well as being interested in sports I have had so many horrible food experiences (think O'learys) at sport bars. Bortamatch is located at östermalm half a stair down from street level at Society. I ventured here to watch some Champions League football. They do have multiple TV screens and when I was there they were showing 3 games at the same time. Sound was only from one game so perhaps not optimal but still understandable as the place is not that big and it is just one big room. Service was in general fast and friendly and knowledge about the beer was good but they were not that familiar with the wine list. Still a good wine list with some interesting options for sparkling wines. The beer list was however a bit short and not that exciting considering that it is probably more popular with beer than wine at a sport bar. Menu had numerous dishes that sounded really tasty but eventually settled for the ox cheek with truffled mash. Very well executed and decent price so have found my favorite sport bar. Will be back!

Been here a couple of times now, it's a nice change from the bars we usually hang out at!…read more It's pretty small but not that nearly as crowed as other bars and they have used their space efficiently with a bar in the middle that can serve a large number of guests! The music is EDM mix with popular music although I've only been here late night when we know the DJ. The place is located in the neighbourhoods of other great clubs so all in all a good place to keep in your arsenal and a nice bar to start the night out at!

What a strange place. I've been here a couple Friday nights for dinner and it is completely dead…read moredespite really good prices for the quality of food (and the food is really freaking good). The drink prices are also very fair, which should make for a great spot to come in and enjoy some music (they often have a southern european pianist/singer duo performing). The place itself is split personality -- one half has a really nice atmosphere and feel and yet when you look out at the other half of the place it looks like a cookie-cutter wedding venue hall with cheesy mirrors. Every time I have gone here I have walked right by the place without even noticing it existed, even know where it was the second time. Supposedly it gets really packed for salsa night on Fridays and they have a dance night most nights of the week (see pictures for an idea of their schedule). I also heard the restaurant is packed on Saturday nights -- so how is it so dead Friday? Stange. The owners are really into dance and music and dance themselves during the nights so that's really fun, but, well I haven't seen the execution yet here. It's hard for me to recommend this place because I would NEVER bring anyone here on a Friday when it's almost totally abandoned but at the same time the food is amazing and I would like to (5 stars on the food for me when you consider price/quality and try the lamb). I will probably try this place one more time on a Saturday for dinner at some point, but the whole aura is just super confusing for me.

I honestly cannot fathom the terrible reviews!…read more I have been here three times and each time has been wonderful. Granted, I'm a dancer, so I LOVE the fact that they have music and dancing basically every single night. Different styles, too! Bachata, tango, Greek music, oriental sometimes, salsa, kizola...If dancing isn't your thing you can always watch and enjoy the atmosphere. I love that it's a full-fledged restaurant where you also can dance - why choose just a dance studio or just a restaurant? You can have both! Plus, I can sincerely say that the staff are some of the friendliest I have experienced in all of Stockholm. The waiters - and the owner - quickly make you feel like you're best friends and that you have a bunch of inside jokes. I always feel welcomed. They're very accommodating too - last night my friend asked if she could get a to-go box for her salad, and the waiter asked what time she was leaving (she planned on dancing) so he could put it in the fridge for her until then. Considering it's not even 'normal' in Sweden to ask for a to-go box, that was super sweet and great service in my opinion! The restaurant itself is pretty small but very nicely decorated and it feels classy. The food isn't oh-my-god-amazing, but it is tasty and not outrageously expensive (normal prices for a downtown Stockholm restaurant), so what's not to love? Maybe Grammofon shouldn't be at the very top of your restaurant bucket list if you don't care about dancing. There are better places. But for what it offers - which is quite niche - I think it's the best!
