My husband and I lucked out to be walking around the San Ángel neighborhood on a Saturday evening a few weeks ago when we were in Mexico City for a few days. Why? San Ángel's Plaza San Jacinto hosts a large market - called El Bazar Sábado - every Saturday from 10am until 7pm. It's an art and design market, and you can find incredible artisan goods and art: jewelry, bags, clothes, paintings, pottery... It's amazing - hundreds of vendors! It can be crowded, so come with a little patience and some cash. And enjoy! It's a special event. I highly recommend it for tourists visiting Mexico City. read more

This Saturday only bazaar is huge. I am sure as much as I think I managed to see there was still a lot more I could explore. This isn't your usual costal cruse stop kind of market where everything seems to repeat after only seeing a few vendors. Was there some repetitions? Yes, but you actually had to look for that! Nearly everything was unique. There was also a huge variety of pricing too. From very cheap items to some pretty amazing higher end crafts. Inside, outside, all through the small park that is there and off some of the side streets. If you are looking to buy anything to remember Mexico, come here and you will find it. Even if you don't buy anything, come here for the memory of the bazaar to take home with you. read more

Bazar del Sabado is a wonderful way to spend time on Saturday in the CDMX, shopping for everything from artisan folk wares to modern pottery and art in the bustling, shady, cobblestoned streets of San Angel. Shopping takes place throughout several blocks around the colonial Plaza San Janinto. The plaza is lined with permanent art galleries, antiques vendors, textile vendors selling folklore-inspired embroidery, and street sellers of pottery and hand painted canvases of varying quality. The Saturday Market culminates at a red, colonial mansion that houses numerous mini-boutiques, galleries, vendor stalls, and an open-air courtyard restaurant. You can eat inside the colonial mansion, but better yet, after coming here I recommend walking about a block away to the lovely Mercado del Carmen, which is one of the newest, and largest gourmet food halls in the South part of the city. What a wonderful way to spend a Sabado! read more

My wife and I just had a wonderful morning walking all throughout the market for this Saturday only bazaar. You can find a mixture of very high quality items made from a variety of artisans. There are also the "cheap" souvenirs so give yourself a few hours to walk through a few times. The center courtyard is a wonderful place to sit down for a cocktail and enjoy some very authentic Mexican cuisine. I would recommend this as a must do for anyone visiting Mexico City. 20 minute Uber ride from our hotel in the Polanco area. read more

This is a wonderful market in an upscale neighborhood. There are many restaurants for lunch and I go there whenever I am in Mexico City.

This bazaar is phenomenal. I don't think I've ever seen an artist's market this large. Paris..maybe? There's an amazing artist market in Albuquerque house in an old train yard as I recall. In any case, this one is incredible. Painters, sculptors, jewelers, potters, chocolates, coffee, honey, mescal...I could go on and on. We were there for 6 hours and didn't get to see everything! Restaurants and coffee shops abound so you won't go hungry and the big church in the middle has public bathrooms for 5 pesos. Enjoy and spend wisely! read more

This is a very pretty, festive, upscale place on Saturdays. A lot of the art is too big for for luggage. Not a place to find bargains, if you're that type of SMART shopper. Go to Oaxaca, or Guatemala to score! Restaurants are very expensive. Long walk for metro users read more

An outside market with vendors selling handmade, local trinkets at a very good price. There was also an "inside" area where more vendors were located, as well as two restaurants with full equipped bars. We are at the buffet for 700 pesos, that included one beer and as many rounds of food we could manage! They had live music and great scenery. Only downside for this market was the parking but once we finally found a park, we had a blast! read more
