We started with the chips and salsa, which was very good. The red salsa definitely had some spice to it, but it was so flavorful. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and it was really good with plenty of chicken and melted cheese in every bite. We ended the meal with the tres leches cake, and I'm glad we did. That said, they could've added more brisket as it was hiding in the middle, and the cheese wasn't as warm as I'd hoped. I was in the mood for tacos, so I went with a mix of fish, pork belly, and sofrito, served with refried beans and rice. We also ordered the steak quesadilla and the shrimp and steak fajitas. We dab a lot from each others food, yes we're that kind of family, so when I say ''we it's because we all get to taste and share each others dishes. Having been to the Boca Raton location and being very impressed, I am happy to say the Fort Lauderdale location completely lives up to my expectations. The atmosphere had soft lighting and gothic décor and honestly felt like a little slice of Mexico City dropped right into downtown. It was so good that grease ended up all over my face and my friend had to remind me that napkins exist. Worth it. The tamale was completely out of this world and I am still thinking about it. We also ordered the chips and salsa. The chips were clearly made fresh daily, perfectly crisp, and served with two salsas. One was a smoky chipotle blend and the other was a tangy citrusy verde with a nice vinegary kick. I kept going back and forth like I had a favorite child and could not choose. The drinks were just as impressive. The espresso martini was rich with chocolatey notes and made with tequila instead of vodka, which I loved way more than I expected. As far as food recommendations, the plate sizes are large, and the burrito and the fajitas would likely fit most tastes. First time trying El Camino! This restaurant has been recommended many times by friends for their great happy hour specials and good quality margaritas. Located right in the center of Las Olas Blvd with paybyphone parking conveniently right behind the restaurant. Being our first time, it did not disappoint. On a Sunday at 1:30pm, requesting a table for 6 - we were sat down immediately. It's an indoor/outdoor restaurant with various seating at the bar which I appreciated. I can see the bar area getting packed during happy hour but atleast it's not a small bar section. This is a great spot if you're after a high‑energy Mexican dining and drinking experience--particularly for groups, happy hour, or pre‑event gatherings - not a quiet or intimate dinner. The margaritas were spectacular. I think I found my favorite margarita - the Guava Habanero margarita. It was not your traditional margarita - it had a nice kick but not overwhelming due to the guava. Recommend to try if you are getting tired of the basic margarita style. My SIL tried the passion fruit margarita, and it was a favorite across the table. My brother ordered the strawberry sangria and it was also 10/10.
