Hotdog

I wouldn't recommend buying a hotdog from this place ... they definitely lack cooking skills .

El Chavos... benches outside
Tanya Y.

There's two things the Westside doesn't have that makes me occasionally miss other parts of EP: 1. Good Mexican food (ya'll, the best Mexican food is in the Northeast); and 2. Ice cream trucks that carry more Mexican candies than ice cream. El Chavo Elotes is essentially the latter, but it isn't mobile and I love it because that means I always know where it is... ALWAYS. It doesn't look like much, but it's exactly what you'd think would be the next step for anyone of those aforementioned ice cream trucks (you know if business was booming and they just felt like it was time to move on up in the world). I stopped here for a churro, (which as it turns out they do make themselves and they make 'em fresh) but what I saw was mangoñadas (sp?), nachos, elotes, Hot Cheetos, and Mexican candies. NEED ALL OF IT. Mexican candies and junk food are my weakness. I can't help it. Their prices were great and I was only expecting one churro covered in caramel as requested, but I was pleasantly surprised to find two. Good stuff. If you're looking for this little spot, it's in the same lot as Panda Express and Game Stop. Just look around for a little shack and you'll find it. Keep in mind this is a drive-thru with only one window so it might be a couple of minutes, but I believe you can also order by walking up. And if it's not to hot outside they do have some benches available. Now if you've lived on the Westside most of your life or you're not really from here, I'm going to let you in on a little secret (now keep in mind this only applies if you like Hot Cheetos, if you're not about that life than just stick to churros)... when you come across a place like this, order yourself some Hot Cheetos with cheese. It'll come in the bag and you can eat it with a fork, but I recommend the push-n-slurp method that gives you optimal cheese to Cheeto ratio. Also... another tip... when you order a mangoñada, get the chamoy and lucas and all that junk. Spicy and sweet, how can you not?

In line. in the back of the pickup getting some elotes chilindrinas and snow ones for the little ones.

It was pretty good. They had a long line which indicates to me this place must be good. Hopped in the back of my bro's pick up truck while we waited for a hot elote on a breezy Sunday. The elote was good but my brother said he was a little dissatisfied with his mangonada cause it wasn't from scratch.

Very disappointed.. corn was dry and had no flavor. I also got a corn in the cup. The corn was cold. What happened to the mayo? Who doesn't add mayo to their corn. Maybe the mayo is a Cali thing. Add mayo to the corn!!

Pineapple with chili powder and chamoy, rainbow snow cone behind.

El Taquito - Flautas- excellent!

Amazingly good flautas for an incredibly reasonable price. (They have other dishes too, but that's…read morewhat they are known for!) Beans and rice on the side are optional / modest extra charge - they are usually very good and worth adding if you're hungry enough. My favorite sauce is the Chipotle. It's got heat as it's also creamy...I would call it medium (I like spicy food.) If you're getting them to go, you might want the sauce and toppings on the side. They usually ask about that, but occasionally they might forget. Service is usually friendly and efficient even when they are busy. Your food is made to order, so it's fast but not instantaneous. Allow 5-10 minutes for pickup most of the time. The dining room is medium-sized. I would say it's a place to eat and go, not stay and linger.

Stopped at El Taquito for breakfast during our move from WA to TX, and it was such a great choice…read more The staff was incredibly friendly, and the whole place had that warm, local-favorite vibe. We ordered the flautas with chipotle sauce and the chilaquiles with half red and half green sauce. The chilaquiles were absolutely amazing. We added a runny egg since we couldn't do chicken, and it gave the dish extra flavor and a good boost of protein. The flautas (which I'd honestly describe more as taquitos dorados) were crunchy and tasty. We liked the chipotle sauce that came with them, but we actually loved dipping them into the chilaquile sauce even more. Overall, it was a great spot to grab breakfast before hitting the road again for many more hours. Highly recommend!

I think solid is a perfect word for this place. Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but not…read morethe worst. I bumped it up to four stars for the super friendly service and the excellent aguas frescas. We got there late, about an hour before closing and they were literally trying to get rid of the aguas for free. I guess they have to dump it if they don't use it all. It was close to our hotel so we gave it a try. Portion sizes are good. The taco platter comes with six tacos! I had the flautas Chinampa which came with four beef flautas, beans, rice, and salad. I forgot, the taco platter even came with a baked potato. Prices were excellent. We had gone to McDonald's in the morning and spent more. They also cave us frijoles charros for free. Not sure if this was standard or if they were also trying to get rid of it. I would return for the service and the convenience, but if you're looking for life changing Mexican cuisine, it's not here. What you get is a good amount of decent food at a good price served by great people.

I only had one day but when i come back in town , I would eat here again.

Had multiple thousand Google reviews and they were all close to five stars. So I knew I had to check it out. It was super close to my hotel, so I popped in the car and found it without trouble. Trouble. Again, there is pretty limited parking so it's kind of hit and miss whether you'll find a spot or not. Fortunately, I did. When you walk up to the place, the building itself is pretty nondescript. They have a nice selection of outside seating, and your window to order is outside. Very nice lady at the counter gave me helpful suggestions and so I ordered three tacos and an amazing lime and cucumber fresca. Went in and sat down inside and was pleasantly surprised by the interior. It definitely had more of an upscale bar vibe to it than a Taco shop. The waiter that brought out my tacos told me that it turns into more of a nightclub after hours. I may have to go check that out. The tacos themselves were absolutely off the chain! The tortillas were blue corn and everything on it tasted so fresh and so wonderful. The carnitas was fantastic, the brisket Taco was to die for and the blackened shrimp Taco was one of the best I've ever had. Had. The flavors were so balanced and on point, it was one of the most satisfying taco experiences I have had!! I will probably hit this place up a couple more times before I leave El Paso. If you are in El Paso, you probably already know about this place. But I'm telling you what you cannot go wrong for tacos and that lime/ cucumber fresca! Bottom line? It's about 10 hours drive from Las Vegas to El Paso. And this Taco shop will give me a great reason to do a road trip anytime. Do yourself a favor and go check this place out!
