    Pork Torta Queso de Puerco
    Jordan J.

Called in for an order. Originally had meant to get tacos, but I didn't really know what I wanted, and the lady suggested the Torta. She said that that was one of the best things on the menu and she recommended the pork one. The sandwich gave me a breakfast vibe... The only thing it was missing was an egg. So if you're looking for breakfast, I think the pork torta add a slice of egg... If they even have egg, would be delicious I also got the french fries, they were nice, hot, and crispy, and a little bit breaded. Those are great too. And they were nice and hot when I got them, she said the bread from the Torta has made it home, it was absolutely delicious... But it definitely made my tummy hurt. (That's my fault, I'm not suppose to eat gluten) lol, excuse that bad grammar and repeat statements... I did voice to text hehe

This place has amaaaazing tortas. Its definitely a hole in the wall place, as I have driven by countless times and never thought about going inside. I knew better. I walked in and it isnt fancy or have frills but that is the best kind of Mexican food places. I ordered their torta with beef and green chile. They gave me a bottle of their red salsa which was okay. It wasn't spicy to me and I couldn't really taste it. But the torta on it's own was amazing. It was soft, the bread buttery and fell apart as I was eating it. The meat was tender and paired great with the mayo and avocado. I will definitely return next time.

They are so kind here. And the food is so good. My favorite has to be the tacos de Camarón.

Came here last night about 15 minutes before they closed since they were the only torta place opened, so of course I was hoping to have made a right choice when picking El Chavo. But I was VERY impressed with the Torta Cubana I got. Everything was perfect & so delicious that it made me sad that I only got 1! lol. Also the french fries were so delicious! Great place with amazing food!

Best tortas in Mesa! My husband comes here for lunch almost once a week. I love how generous they are with the avocado!

Great asada tacos and quesadillas. Definitely a treat for us, being from the East Coast. One complaint: the menu is relatively limited.

Authentic Mexican food sounded perfect and I knew good things were in store when I arrived at 11:30am on a Friday and all of inside and outside tables were full. The inside is quaint but has quite a few tables. They also have tables out front in the shade (to call it patio seating may be a stretch, just simple tables and chairs on the exterior of the entrance). You order your food at the counter and I didn't study the menu ahead of time but the ladies taking my order were patient with me. I ordered a shredded beef taco and a cheese enchilada with rice and beans. Nothing fancy for my first time as it's hard to golf on a full stomach! I found the only open table and then hit up the salsa bar. They have 4 or 5 different salsas/hot sauces and a few other goodies. I got a small cup of each sauce and all of them were quite good. My food was colorful, flavorful and just the right away to give me some energy without being lethargic. I could go on about a few other nice things but it seems most of East Mesa already knows about this place given the high scores on Yelp from a lot of reviewers. Nothing to prevent me from giving a 5* review at this time. I look forward to trying some more dishes in the future.

Carne asada burrito which came with chipotle cream sauce, carne Asada, and pico. Also beans and we asked for no rice. We both had rice on the side with beans. The burrito was nice and big. The rice was really good. And the beans were mediocre. The burrito was good, except the only bad thing I would say it was a little too greasy, and when you bit into it, all the greasy juice came out. I'm not sure if we would go back maybe, to try something different.

The parking lot outside was parking so we thought we may have to wait, but inside was not busy yet and we were seated immediately. I ordered the smoked chicken enchilada as I saw it was a Yelp favorite and it was delicious. I ended up taking half of it home since we all filled up on chips and salsa before our meal. This restaurant is decorated so cutely. I love how there is a Baja influence with all the surf boards but also southwest appeal. There is plenty of seating and tables for big groups. Even with other people yapping around us, the noise level was perfect to enjoy company. 10/10 would recommend.

Update: the owner messaged me and told me to buy an entire chicken. Uh, maybe put some chicken in the chicken burrito? Update #2: The owner sure does like to argue with the customer back and forth. Now, he proposed that I order from Chipotle instead since they fail to give customer what one paid for. Update #3: The owner still going back and forth with me and now claiming I did not pay for the burritos. Not really sure what he means by that. But here is the screen shot of 2 burritos ordered via DoorDash. This is just wild.

Got the $30 Plato Campechano between 2 ppl (half chicken, half a pound of Carne, flour and corn tortillas, rice, beans from the pot, salsas, grill jalapeños, guacamole, limes, and radishes). Decent amount of food, although the chicken and carne were both a bit dry. I enjoyed the beans and rice, and the additional accouterments. Overall, good flavor and seasonings, just dry protein. Not sure if that would change on a busier day if fresh food was being pumped out, but would be open to checking this place out again!
