I passed by El Corte Ingles everyday during my Weekend in Seville. But I did not realize there are 3 different buildings spread out in the near immediate walking distance. I ended up looking for the said "Supermarket" and never found it?! They do have a nice food hall at the top floor that specialized in gourmet food! The main floor has an area that carries all Seville's souvenir. I also went to another building that sells books and electronics. I just fail in locating the Supermarket?! Maybe next visit!

    Grilled artichoke appetizer.

On thé 5th floor of this department store UA fantastic food court with a branch in f the restaurant Manolo Leon. The server ce was excellent and the food featured the best produce of the season. I had a delicious grilled artichoke appetizer and their catch of the day-- a tuna belly filet grilled on the outside and rosy inside. The black rice on the side was flavorful and cooked "Al denté". My friend enjoyed a wonderfully sauced salmon with citrus. Portions were large but we had to indulge in dessert -- a mousse cake for me and chocolate truffles for her. Take a break from shopping, visit the gourmet food collection, then enjoy a fabulous meal!

View from the 5th floor terrace. Totally free, plus free Wi-Fi, and lots of delicious things inside!

Lots of great food including wine, charcuterie, snacks, etc. El Corte Inglés is a bit more expensive than other grocery stores, but you get the convenience of shopping for home decor or fashion in the upper floors and then get some groceries on the way out. Clean, big and very well stocked.

Known faulty model being sold. Fishy stuff…read more I bought an iron on "summer sale" here but it didn't work right. I went back to exchange it for one that did. But, absolutely none of the irons in any of the boxes of that model worked correctly. They said it looked like there was a problem with the model. When I tried to deal with the problem the workers were not volunteering any options. I had to propose any possible resolutions. Even so, they turned down each and every one, including a painless option that I keep the iron but they extend my trial period a little longer. To that I got a flat out almost one word response, "No." All I wanted was an iron of the same quality that worked but they blocked me all the way. I wrote an email to the main customer service. They took a week to get back to me (coincidentally a day before my satisfaction guarantee ran out?). When I finally got their final response it was that my request was refused I could only get my money back. Went back there yesterday, all the boxes of faulty irons are still on the shelves. It's hard not to think that the iron was on sale to either get rid of this faulty model, or to push people into buying a higher-priced (non-sale) one when the first one didn't work, a win-win for them. Corte Inglés may feel familiar to you because of its department store format but when there was a problem with my item, their workers treated me with a disinterested and dismissive attitude. They offered me no options except that I keep my faulty item, pay more, or, after much hassle, "just call it fair and square" and get my money back, all while they continue to sell a defective iron. FYI it wasn't a language or cultural barrier. Every Spaniard I've met has said that my Spanish is very good. Go to a ferretería for appliances/hardware, etc. These mom and pop shops have good customer service AND the money stays with the local economy. Plus, you get to live a little like a local.

This department store reminds me of Macy's(in NY, NOT Chicago) or even the former Marshall Field's…read more(it's a Chicago thing), with the wide variety of vendors of makeup, electronics, clothing, even a grocery store! A wine bar was present as well, but we opted for food. Regrettably, I did not take any clothes pictures, but rather pics of food in the restaurant upstairs. I prefer a food court when shopping, and maybe they did have one, but I think that would be too 'mal gusto' for a place like this. If I am incorrect please let me know. The cafe was quaint with decent service (I did get soup with no spoon though) and the food was good. After eating (we had climbed a church tower 2 hours ago!) we browsed the clothing selection and we found many familiar designers and others exclusive to Europe. The prices were elevated of course, but also some bargains, or items I considered to be 'investments', things I would wear for years. I got a really cool corduroy shirt and sweater. The sales people were polite and attentive at times, when we tried on clothes. They were ok to speak English since my Spanish is muy mal! My party bought a smart watch from one of the salespeople. Our Gate 1 tour guide told us we could get a 10% discount, and tax refunds as a result of being non-European residents. A passport number is needed to verify, but a picture of the passport will suffice. There is a really cool and comfortable waiting area (like a lounge, with sofas) where one can get a number, select a service, and see a representative to apply for a refund. You don't get it there, you get it at the airport. The stores are all over Spain. We went to one in Madrid as well. I'll send that review later.
