CONS: I ordered the two cheese enchilada plate, rice and beans extra. I paid $12 for a cold (not even lukewarm) enchilada plate that took about ten minutes as I sat in the drive-thru window with cars piling up behind me. I get it, people don't eat enchiladas for breakfast. I'm sure they sell more breakfast burritos at that time, but maybe make a breakfast only menu? Or prep earlier so everything is ready to be made? I tried this place again because the last time I tried this order, I waited just as long and got cheese quesadillas. We stopped here for a quick lunch on the way to Lassen. It's in a gas station which I didn't realize while driving around looking for this restaurant. There is a kind of complimentary salsa bar (which I didn't see until after I was done eating). There are several tables and chairs in the restaurant area. I had a fish taco which contains fried fish, salsa and some whitish sauce (maybe mayo based?). Overall very good and one was enough for lunch. My kids had the kids cheese quesadilla plate which was a lot of food (beans and rice included). The gas station convenience store shares the space worth the restaurant. The bathroom is inside along the side of the store. Seems convenient if you need to get gas too. read more

I've been here several times, and I love the breakfast burritos. The salsa is great. The customer service is great. I'm just not a fan of the regular food though. The Chile verde burrito was almost all rice with hardly a few pieces of meat. The carne asada chips were not what I expected, with really salty carne asada. The whole dish was cold, including the unmelted cheese. I was charged for extra pico, but there wasn't much on there. They just weren't worth the price. I will probably just stick to the breakfast burritos in the future. read more

I have tried various menu items, but they are very bland. They put this avocado-type stuff all over it. It really isn't quac, and can't explain what it is but it takes over every dish. The burrito I had was pretty good (SoCal-style carnitas burrito, without the NorCal-style bean and rice filler), and the tacos were okay, but the salsa bar was pitiful. There's a lot of Yelp love for this place because the portions are huge, but huge doesn't mean "Wohoo! As good as it gets!" in my book. It means gut-bomb. Without trying very hard, I can think of at least three local restaurants, one or two taquerías, one burrito bar, and one roach coach that serve better Mexican and Cali-Mexi chow -- some a hell of a lot better. However when I was told WHERE this place was, I got a little iffy -I think my words were something like "Inside a gas station? El Sketchy-osos? You're kidding, right?" But I'm up for adventure and I have a strong tummy. I was really surprised... I got the Chimichanga and I'll be danged, it was delicious. On top of that I ended up bringing much of it home, which is quite a feat if you know me. The best part, though, was the constant stream of legit hispanics coming in and ordering food in Spanish... Been coming here regularly for years. We usually get this very nice gentleman who rings up our order. He always comments, "good to see you again" or "it's been a little while since I've seen you". However, this morning, there was a young lady as cashier. She was rude, dismissive, and unaccommodating. I ordered something unfamiliar this time, a carnitas burrito which I assumed had rice and beans inside. But after paying, I noticed on menu, it came without rice and beans. By then, two customers were already in line. I didn't wish to interrupt so waited behind second customer. When my turn, I asked if I could add rice and beans in my burrito. Cashier said, "too late, burrito already made". I asked if I could order a side of rice and beans to my order. She said I would have to get at the end of the line to place my order which, by then, had 5 customers in line. I already waited in line twice, once to place my order, then again to ask if I could add rice and beans. Now she was telling me to get in line again for a third time? I already waited my turn during my second time in line. I was polite and not the least bit unreasonable during our entire encounter, yet she could not have been more rude, dismissive, or unconcerned with me. This cashier is INEPT at customer service. Even though my husband and I have been coming here for years, will never go back after being treated this way. To quote the husband it was scrum-didly-umptious! We were cruising through Redding on our drive from LA to Portland and got hungry and decided to look past the gas station exterior and were so glad we did. The hubs chose the Californian and I went with the vegetarian burrito minus cheese and sour cream. Mine was amazeballs, all the flavors were on point and they did not skimp on the guac. The hubs was "the perfect balance of meat and potatoes" he couldn't really taste the avocado though which was a bummer. Both burritos were good size we just wish they were rolled tighter as we were eating in the car. My horchata was delish too! I will say, I was skeptical coming here since they share space with a gas station. I was impressed with how clean they keep everything. The whole time I was there they had someone tending to the floors and making sure everything was wiped down, which I appreciated. I ended up ordering something safe: The 3 rolled tacos with guac and cheese, coming out to $4. A gentleman in there at the same time recommended the carne asada burrito. For what it is I find this place to be the best food deal I have found in Redding. It tastes just like the good taco shops I remember in San Diego. Four bucks for a huge wet burrito with shredded not ground beef that was big enough for two. They serve carne asada fries which for 7 bucks has to be the most calories per dollar.
