I wanted a carnitas tacos fix after getting off work. It was late and since it was Sunday, my options were limited. I knew El Forastero was open 24 hours and they were pretty good the last time I had them. When it's late, only the drive they is open. I ordered 3 carnitas tacos and a value menu bean and cheese burrito. *be sure to say value menu if that is what you want. It's about a $6 difference. When I sat down to eat, the carnitas were on the dry side. They needed salt and plenty of salsa and lime, which they put on the side and inside the box. The bean and cheese burrito was a pretty good size for the value size. However, the beans were very plain. Not much seasoning. I wont let this detour me. It was late and just an off night. I have really enjoyed coming here on all my past visits. Their food is savory and delicious... their latest Taco Tuesday prices for street tacos are only $1.50 each! read more

Friendly staff always, a little bit pricier on some items but usually worth it as the portions are much larger. Street tacos, super burrito, quesabirrias all were great! I visit this location late night and always get exceptional service. read more

The quality of the chorizo breakfast burrito has diminished. It's heavy on potato, and light in chorizo and egg. It's sad when a favorite goes downhill. read more

good news and bad news. good news - driving home last night...errr early this morning (midnight) after the birth of our 5th granddaughter, i noticed that el forastero was open. good news - i order 2 cheese enchiladas with rice and beans with green sauce. bad news - enchilads were warm but cheese was not even melted. the enchilidas were swimming, actually over flowing the container, in a red sauce that drowned out the flavors of even the rice and beans. i literally took the container home and used a dipper to remove much of the red sauce. i couldn't eat it and i eat almost anything. good news - i was able to clean-up the red sauce that spilled on my leather seats. i will try again at a later date and hope for better results. ; / read more

I decided to try something new today and ordered the nacho cheese and jalapeños for $6. I didn't realize it was going to literally be a whole lot of chips with a handful of shredded cheese on the very top not even melted but then smothered in jalapeños. Maybe that's on me for not understanding the menu but I would at least think the cheese would be melted? I do like the amount of jalapeños though! Get the Crispy Shredded Beef Tacos! They're delicious. My son likes the Crispy Ground Beef Tacos and Carne Asada Nachos. I like to go inside when I get takeout so I can get all the yummy salsas and their pico is delicious. The folks are always friendly in the drive thru and the lobby, not to mention quick service. Portions are huge! The building is an old Jack in the Box that's been nicely remodeled. Recently, they added a Value Menu and I was able to get a smaller Bean, Cheese and Rice Burrito. Add a little salsa and pico and I was all smiles. Oh, if you aren't a fan of lettuce or don't care for toppings stacked on top of your meal, ask for them on the side or without. read more

The food here is okay. Way over priced but it's consistently basic Mexican food. I bought 6 breakfast burritos and a ground beef quesadilla and 2 Jarritos came to 120$ !!! which is crazy. Here visiting for Christmas and saw this was new. Line around the building and open 24hrs? Must be decent! We got the Carne asada fries, Cali burrito, bean and cheese burrito and cheese quesadillas. EVERYTHING was great! Carne asada fries had cheese, quac, pico, beans, rice, and sour cream. Cali burrito had fries, Carne asada, cheese and pico just like it's supposed to. Bean and cheese was LOADED with cheese. Kids enjoyed the quesadillas. Definitely will be back when we visit. read more

I want to like this place. I've been there 3 times now trying to really like it. The burritos have nicely grilled shells. The red sauce is good. Today I ordered a Super Burrito with *extra* carnitas (+$2.50). Add cilantro. Getting it home, I found very little carnitas, it would have been underwhelming even if I hadn't ordered extra. And about 1/4 of the what *was* there was a huge disgusting fat blob! Whoever tong'ed that junk into a burrito should be slapped. And no cilantro to be found. And here's a constructive comment: could you spread the ingredients out lengthwise? Otherwise you get 4 bites in a row of mostly sour cream, then 3 bites of gross fat, and then 2 bites that are good, etc. read more

I haven't been here in person but my husband brings us home food from their 24 HOUR drive thru and so far it's been great. Their salas is just ok but at least they make their own and not from a package. I tried their Vampire Juice (beets, celery, carrots & apple) it was fresh made and really good!! Stop going to your local taqueria and go to El Forastero. We've gone at least three times for the street taco combo, burritos, and kid's burrito. The birria has no business being so good at this price point. There is a great selection of agua frescas (it's disappointing when you go to a Mexican restaurant and they lack horchata). You can also pick out salsas, pickled carrot and peppers. The chips were not stale, so I was very tempted to eat them as my lunch. The service was normal. The ambiance is as expected. The food was dog butt. (terrible) The beans were watery and had zero flavor, as was the rice. And the nachos cheese was completely cold. As we're most the chips. It was overall bland. And I eat a lot of Mexican food probably 3-5 days a week weather it's at home or out. And my stomach sure did not feel great after eating at this restaurant, which isn't normal. This is sad because I used to love this place I would bring my friends there but it seems as though it's going down hill. This is just my experience and it's been the past few times I have been. I used to love coming here, but it's so unfortunate. A month or so in the food just started to always taste like cleaner. Specifically, fabuloso. I don't know why it's allowed to be used in restaurants it is not an NSF approved cleaner. It's meant for in home, not restaurants. I've had this happen at a few places but almost always here. Cleaning products and food need to be away from one another, and maybe it's used as a sanitizer on counters where food is prepared. I want to eat a burrito cause I like burritos but I like my burritos with rice and beans, sour cream and cheese and I can put my own salsa I order a regular burrito the only thing I got is meat and cilantro I don't order a taco. That's not a burrito, what a mess I took a bite on my burrito and I realized it was only meat and flour tortilla and pico de gallo. I was very disappointed. When you tell the restaurant you're allergic to avocado and to make sure there's no guacamole and they don't listen. The girl at the window looked at me and confirmed no guacamole when I paid for it.
