I wanted a carnitas tacos fix after getting off work. It was late and since it was Sunday, my options were limited. I knew El Forastero was open 24 hours and they were pretty good the last time I had them. When it's late, only the drive they is open. I ordered 3 carnitas tacos and a value menu bean and cheese burrito. *be sure to say value menu if that is what you want. It's about a $6 difference. When I sat down to eat, the carnitas were on the dry side. They needed salt and plenty of salsa and lime, which they put on the side and inside the box. The bean and cheese burrito was a pretty good size for the value size. However, the beans were very plain. Not much seasoning. I wont let this detour me. It was late and just an off night. I didn't realize it was going to literally be a whole lot of chips with a handful of shredded cheese on the very top not even melted but then smothered in jalapeños. good news and bad news. good news - driving home last night...errr early this morning (midnight) after the birth of our 5th granddaughter, i noticed that el forastero was open. good news - i order 2 cheese enchiladas with rice and beans with green sauce. bad news - enchilads were warm but cheese was not even melted. the enchilidas were swimming, actually over flowing the container, in a red sauce that drowned out the flavors of even the rice and beans. i literally took the container home and used a dipper to remove much of the red sauce. i couldn't eat it and i eat almost anything. good news - i was able to clean-up the red sauce that spilled on my leather seats. i will try again at a later date and hope for better results. ; / read more

I like to go inside when I get takeout so I can get all the yummy salsas and their pico is delicious. The folks are always friendly in the drive thru and the lobby, not to mention quick service. Portions are huge! The building is an old Jack in the Box that's been nicely remodeled. Recently, they added a Value Menu and I was able to get a smaller Bean, Cheese and Rice Burrito. Here visiting for Christmas and saw this was new. Line around the building and open 24hrs? Must be decent! We got the Carne asada fries, Cali burrito, bean and cheese burrito and cheese quesadillas. EVERYTHING was great! Carne asada fries had cheese, quac, pico, beans, rice, and sour cream. Cali burrito had fries, Carne asada, cheese and pico just like it's supposed to. Today I ordered a Super Burrito with *extra* carnitas (+$2.50). Add cilantro. Getting it home, I found very little carnitas, it would have been underwhelming even if I hadn't ordered extra. And about 1/4 of the what *was* there was a huge disgusting fat blob! Whoever tong'ed that junk into a burrito should be slapped. And no cilantro to be found. And here's a constructive comment: could you spread the ingredients out lengthwise? Stop going to your local taqueria and go to El Forastero. We've gone at least three times for the street taco combo, burritos, and kid's burrito. The birria has no business being so good at this price point. There is a great selection of agua frescas (it's disappointing when you go to a Mexican restaurant and they lack horchata). You can also pick out salsas, pickled carrot and peppers. The chips were not stale, so I was very tempted to eat them as my lunch. Cleaning products and food need to be away from one another, and maybe it's used as a sanitizer on counters where food is prepared. I went to this place El Forastero They said they had Mexican food. I want to eat a burrito cause I like burritos but I like my burritos with rice and beans, sour cream and cheese and I can put my own salsa I order a regular burrito the only thing I got is meat and cilantro I don't order a taco. That's not a burrito, what a mess I took a bite on my burrito and I realized it was only meat and flour tortilla and pico de gallo. I was very disappointed. I'm sorry a lot of people called this place is Mexican food when it's not even nothing like Mexican food when you serve Mexican food, you gotta have quality doesn't matter how much you serve and make it correctly and talking about for those people up there.
