It's one of those rare places that get really hyped up and turn out to actually be worth the hype. We stopped in here on three different occasions during our Mexico City trip, and despite how viral it is there was never a line. The staff was very friendly, prices very reasonable, and order always came out super quick. My favorite things were the rol de guayaba, cafe de olla, and the puerquito de piloncillo. The guava pastry and puerquito were very fresh, soft and not crummy at all. The guava pastry was specifically memorable as it had the most delicious creamy filling in it that tasted like real guava and not overly sweet. The cafe de olla was addicting with the spices being perfectly balanced. It sets the standard for cafe de olla... it's not clear if I'll ever get one as good as the one they make here. This is a must stop during any visit to Mexico City.

If you visit both bakeries after 7pm, you will run the risk of limited offerings and pastry that is may already have been funbeled, so i say buy in the morning. The breads and pastry were dry out and hard but on the other hand they do offer a small discount for buying right before they close. The concha from panaderia madrid was better for sure and they have a chocolate concha too. I didn't try tamales but they are available in the back in a big steamer. The way you buy bread is you go around with a tray, you fill up tour tray and bring to the packaging area, she gives you a ticket, you pay and come back to the same lady that package yiur food?? The original location looks a lot prettier and bigger. Luckily we were able to get a seat alongside of the bar, but it was relatively packed. The guava pastry was so delicious! I usually don't like fillings in my pastries, but this was the perfect amount. The pastry itself was very flakey and buttery. Nothing to write home about the mocha, however. I definitely would want to check out the main location, but this location had some cute shops nearby to check out as well!
