Very good service, I would definitely trying out their "Baja tacos" it's one of the best tacos I've had.

El Gringo is located in a small strip mall off N Sepulveda Blvd. We came on a Sunday evening, and the place was quite busy. The servers were clearly struggling to keep up--clearing tables, setting up, and keeping the space tidy--but they were friendly and tried their best. The ambiance was clean but felt slightly sterile, lacking the warmth or character typically associated with Mexican culture. This brings me to the main issue: the food was very bland and unremarkable. The name "El Gringo" seems to capture the essence of their approach to Mexican cuisine, which seems to involve stripping away much of the flavor. We tried the Xcholti soup, which is advertised as their most popular item. It was a clear broth with chicken, tomatoes, and onions, but even after adding salsa, it remained disappointingly flavorless. We also ordered the Funky Beets salad with carne asada, and unfortunately, the carne asada was dry and overcooked. Again, there was nothing particularly noteworthy about the dish. Given the many fantastic Mexican food options available in Southern California, I have to say that I don't see a compelling reason to return to El Gringo.

Mexican food is probably the toughest category in LA of course but El Gringo excels and at great value. My breakfast bowl was delicious with alot of eggs(3)potatoes, cheese and alot of carne asada. Their fresh guac is also superb and was fun to dip. Service by Tommy was as good as it gets-give this man a raise. I didn't buy a drink but also noticed they have a nice beer selection which I'll try on my next visit. Highly recommended.

We wanted something casual and low key. This was our first time visiting this restaurant recommended by a friend that lives locally. Monday evening, about 3 tables were seated during our stay. Quite a few to go orders were picked up while we dined. Staff were really nice and friendly. Menu was larger than what I expected. We ordered the two Chicken Enchiladas plate with Green Sauce, Rice & Black Beans and the Grilled Shrimp Bowl with Refried Beans. Both dishes were abundant and delicious! The ambiance is very casual, clean and upbeat. Fantastic restaurant that I highly recommend and would absolutely revisit next time we're in town!

Shocked by the generous portions and very reasonable prices. Delicious food with fast friendly service. Easy parking and pick up for takeout. Clean casual chill establishment. I especially enjoyed the guacamole and chips. Check it out.

This restaurant is near Manhattan beach. The name of the restaurant really describes the food. I love the fact that a lot of the options in the menu are health conscious and adapts to different dietary needs. Reminds me of the TexMex restaurant "Gringos" in Texas. The service was efficient and the server was very kind to my family. I asked her what would she recommend for the meat in the Baja California tacos and she said carnitas are a favorite here. I tried the carnitas with my tacos and they were very good. I like ambience of the restaurant. It feels like I'm eating over at someone's house. If you want to eat healthy and have some good food, you should come here. They also have ground bison for my protein junky people like my boyfriend who was dying to try it. Over all, great restaurant if you want to come with your family.

    Stopped by and loved it!

As for the food/drinks, the happy hour was such a great deal. We got to try the mushroom choriqueso (which was our favorite item), Al Pastor tacos, taquitos, shrimp ceviche and two Mercado margaritas. All of this for about $70! Everything tasted great and came out super quick too. Service was absolutely amazing. Everyone's always checking up on you, making sure you're doing okay and there was never a time we were waiting on anything too long. What makes it worse is that this is not our first time with Mercado. We've been fans since the original location near The Grove and have been coming to this South Bay location for a while. We used to order takeout and dined in regularly and in the past the experience was much better. Unfortunately, that is clearly no longer the case. The service was atrocious from start to finish. We waited far too long for everything, including drinks. A single Tecate took about 30 minutes to arrive, which set the tone for the rest of the night. Nobody checked on us, nobody seemed attentive and we spent way too much of the evening just sitting there waiting. The food was equally bad. The carnitas nachos came out cold. The steak taco was rubbery. The fish tacos were incredibly dry. The birthday fajitas were also dry and underwhelming. For a place at this price point, there is really no excuse for food coming out like this. The overall atmosphere also felt off. What used to feel lively and welcoming now felt neglected and poorly managed. It was especially frustrating because this was supposed to be a birthday dinner and instead it turned into a long, overpriced, disappointing experience. It genuinely breaks my heart to write this because we have a long history with Mercado, but after this visit, we're done. There are too many better options in the South Bay to spend this kind of money on bad food, bad service and an overall miserable experience.

We were staying near LAX and I didn't want to drive too far, so we stumbled upon this Mexican spot in the cutest little downtown area ever. El Segundo, you are THAT b*tch! We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday and were seated immediately (thank goodness). Our server was super duper friendly and even had multiple conversations with us throughout the meal, sharing anecdotes and talking to my tattoo artist friend about getting a tat from her LOL. We quickly ordered some chips and queso (not free) and were blown away by how creamy and tasty the queso was. The tortas were also delicious and easy to scoop a lot of cheese on to. On to the menu, they had a good variety of Mexican dishes, but the price point, man. I thought $4-5 a taco at Barrio Queen in Arizona was steep, but this place charged $7-8 for a single small taco. I would've been okay with any menu item since it's Mexican and nothing under that cuisine could be bad, but seeing each enchilada over $30, made me steer clear of the main entree dishes. I also knew I wanted to try fish tacos, so I just opted for one fish taco and one grilled taco, with a side of mashed black beans. Crazy that some black beans also were at least $5. The fish taco was nicely battered and the guacamole was ripe and creamy, but the grilled chicken taco was nothing spectacular. There was also cauliflower tacos and beef brisket tacos ordered among us. My friend who ordered the beef brisket taco rated it 7.5/10, whereas the cauliflower tacos were rated 9/10. The food also took at least 20 minutes to arrive at the table. Both sauces my tacos came with were extremely spicy so I didn't even touch those. My friends enjoyed their meals, and the side of green rice two of them got was rather tasty. Overall, our server was the best part of the experience. She really ate DOWN, whereas our food and the price point did not.

So like yesterday, I decided to stop by and grab a burrito, but unfortunately, this will be the last time. I usually visit this location with my dad. He's been coming to this location since before I was born and I'm damn near 40. But this time I came alone and the place was packed. They don't have a big seating area. It's like a bar with about four seats to the right and four seat seats to the left so it doesn't accommodate many people, so people order to go. And that was my plan. I walk in and the server (with his chef at and money taped to it) and I grab the same menu. He allows me to have it, and he grabs another and gives it to one of the customers. I say all this to say that he definitely knows exactly when I arrived. However, A white man walks up less than a minute later and for some reason he decides to ask him if he ready to order, as if I'm invisible. This was the second time that this happened to me today and God knows how many times has happened to me in life. So at some point, I just have to stop ignoring the fact that Black people aren't welcome in certain spaces. Maybe we are by law, but not at all met with respect! That is all!

The ambiance was great and it was a really nice spot in front of the Pier. We sat outside since it was good weather, I didn't account for the afternoon chill though once the sunset. Good thing to keep in mind when choosing outside or inside. The inside was really pretty (saw this on my way to the restroom later) so I wish I would have chosen to sit inside. Now for the food, this was really the only let down. The guacamole and chips were started with was okay, slightly bland in flavor. I got the fish tacos, my husband got the Chipotle Pollo y Hongos (listed as a house specialty), got a taco and nacho plate for my kids off the kids menu. The rice was like a green rice, super bland and dry and this came on both of the adult plates. The red rice that came with the kids food was actually better. The refried beans tasted like something that came out of a can, dry as heck and again, bland. Fish tacos were meh, fish was fishy and the slaw it comes with did not have the flavor I am usually looking for when I think fish tacos. My husband's chicken was yummy, and I wished I had gotten that instead. Only con was the dry rice and beans it comes paired with. Maybe my biggest gripe was the food not tasting authentic at all, and this Mexican girl loves her Mexican food, or maybe I just got the wrong plates. In my experience, if the basics are wrong (rice and beans) the rest has little hope. However, I must say that Dessert was amazing, I got some kind of yummy ice cream (maybe the Helado Frito?) to blow out my birthday candle. It was the silver lining for sure :) Service was great, and they were very accommodating. I felt bad telling them I hated the food but I wanted to write an honest review for those, like myself, who rely on reviews when choosing a good dinner spot.
