This place started off at a gas station. They recently moved to a Brick and Mortar in Downtown Crown. They served Mexican Street Food. You order at the counter and they will bring food to the table. There is a fixing bar to add to your choices. We ordered a variety dishes including nachos, tacos, salad, guacamole, beans. Nothing fancy but hit the spot.

    Taquitos fritos

One of my favorite places to eat in Maryland! Prices are pretty reasonable and its pretty filling! I typically like to do the combo with the beef taquitos fritos and the lengua taco. I loveee how cripsy the taquitos are! The lengua meat was tender. They do not skimp out on the meat at all!! My partner often gets the chorizo nachos which is so savory and crunchy. I love how there is a salsa/topping bar to dress your meal however you like. If you are in the area, definitely check this place out!

Combo: Steak Taco and Beef Empanadas (3.11.26)

3.12.26 Food: -Shredded Beef Empanada: Crispy shell with tender, flavorful beef. -Steak Quesadilla: The beef was chewy and not my favorite. -Rice: This came with the combo I ordered and was likely the best rice I've had at any Mexican restaurant. -Carne Asada: My colleague ordered this and said the beef was chewy. She mentioned she will probably stick with the salad she ordered at the previous location. -Tres Leches: I ordered this to-go for my husband. He said it was good but mentioned he has had better versions at other bakeries and restaurants. Ambiance: The music was much too loud. The restaurant is fairly small, and the waste receptacle seemed oddly placed next to the register and waiting area. Service: Friendly and moderately attentive. At one point, a server accidentally brought me someone else's order. On a positive note, another server noticed my colleague had leftovers and proactively offered her a to-go container. Final Thoughts: While the food was good overall, it didn't stand out enough for me to feel compelled to return anytime soon especially since I still have a long list of new restaurants I'd like to try.

The fixing stations...the green sauces are good!

I loved Taco Bar when they were across the street by the gas station. So I was happy when they got bigger location. This could have been a 5 star review but work on your customer service skills. The female cashiers not welcoming. However I'll give them a try. I order Milanesa which is breaded steak..it came with refried beans, rice, lettuce and tomatoes and 3 tortillas. Let me tell you , this was so delicious and comforting... reminded me how my pops would make it. The beans was delicious and that's something I normally dont eat. The price for this was $11.. and that's a steak cuz elsewhere you would pay more. My friend had her burrito bowl and it looked delicious. I ordered horchata.. I had to ask for a straw ... it seems miniscule... instead of handing me one 2 staff were like it's over there, served with a ((heavy side of attitude)) by the utensils?! Nooo?? It's empty.. like other people had to ask too... so eventually we got our straws but its ish.. like that why i say they need to work on their attitude. Customer service was great at the last location, I hope they improve.

Value for your money when you dine at El Guero Mexicano. This location is fairly new after they moved from their previous location at 7/11. Lots of seating and love the fact that they have a salsa bar. Service is fast and the staff was pleasant. I grabbed my order to go but the interior is nicely decorated and modern.

The restaurant is located right on the side of the street in Crown and easy street parking or garage parking. The inside has a good amount of space and this is a order upfront and find your seat with a number type of place. The cashier was nice, a little quiet but friendly. The food. I'm impressed with the amount of meat that they put on each taco! I got their Bistec (steak), Suadero (braised tender beef rib), and their Al Pastor (pork in achiote rub with pineapple). Each taco has 2 or 3 corn tortilla's stacked with meat on top. All the fixings that you could want to add to your taco was on the fixings stand. The corn tortilla was soft and not grainy, pretty good! My favorite was definitely the Suadero, so tender and flavorful, would highly recommend! 4/5! The only downside is that I had found a couple of bones inside my taco that was a surprise with that crunch on my teeth. But....still I would get it again! The Al Pastor was good flavor and tender, same with their Bistec, tender enough but decent flavor. Both I'd put it at 3.5/5 I also got their taquitos fritos, chicken and beef, both were good! The chicken was shredded chicken meat and the beef was diced up, the light crunch of the taquitos and the tender meat filling was a great combo! Steak better than the Chicken, I'd give it a 3/5! Good, but not sure if I'd get it again. Overall, good experience and would love to come back to try more things!

    Pastor Nachos January 31, 2026 IG: @pharmingfoodies

Been going to Taco Bar since the bowls were $3.50! My coworkers and I used to send each other emails with the subject line: "GSM" short for "Gas Station Mexican". Shout out to all the other OGs here! So so happy for them for getting a brand new shiny store front. The menu seemed unchanged, so don't worry, your favs are still there! We ordered the pastor nachos and a chicken burrito bowl. Nachos: These nachos are IT (IYKYK). The fact that the portion is significantly smaller when you have it as a dine-in has not changed. If you wanna load up, get the nachos to-go. The nacho cheese is unmatched, definitely the canned velvety kind, but YOLO. Burrito Bowl: I usually get the suadero burrito bowl, but tried for chicken this time. The pulled chicken isn't the best, a little bit dry, but the flavor of the rice and beans makes up for it. What could be improved - the sauce and topping station is tucked away in a far corner against a wall, and with a bigger space, I think they need more space for people to get their toppings. They definitely needed to allow access from both sides. I def stood for a solid 10 mins waiting for people in front to fill up their to-go salsa containers. Also, this is random but we sat at one of the the high chair seats and the chairs were way too high but their tables were too low. Jealous that we couldn't have this when we lived in Crown, but will be visiting often anyways!

My husband and I came to el Güero because our go to place Taco Bar closed. We weren't worried because it's the same owners different name. Our first date was at the old location in 2019. We came and order the chorizo nachos and the taste of the food is the same! Still flavorful, amazing and delicious. The horchata is always a hit. We loved it! Baby and I are happy. This is still a "hidden gem" restaurant. I did notice that the menu options are more and cannot wait to come back and try it out.

    Lengua taco

Yay! First visor since the relocated to the locating with sit down service. Still solid service and flavors. I was soooooo happy to see the condiments bar! Chips were crispy and and guacamole was so fresh. The little one got the requisite lengua and chicken tacos. Lengua is my favorite and so tender and full of flavor. I tired one of the all day breakfast platters and the spouse tried a burrito bowl. All portions are as big as you are used to and we ended up taking home food with a refill on the condiments of course. Definitely will come back over another weekend to get the weekend barbacoa and menudo!

I didn't know that this place existed in my neighborhood, and I was shocked when I finally tried it. The food is authentic, and the prices are excellent for this location. The place can be busy, and I'm not even surprised because their food selection and flavors are amazing. To be honest, I am not surprised that this place doesn't have a Michelin star. Give it a try and you will be satisfied!

Taco bar El-Guero has opened up again in a bright new place yet again, now called El-Guero Mexicano. I was super sad for them to be closing down their original location but now I am super delighted and happy for them. They have kept their taste consistent and it's the same menu but a place where you can now sit down and eat in a restaurant setting. Their service is so great as the staff is so humble and friendly. Definitely check this place out if you haven't already!

Same great taste from the gas station taco bar with more seating and they brought back the unlimited salsa bar which is great. I got the combo with suadero taco and al pastor sope which comes with rice and beans and horchata. Sope was delicious and I really like Al pastor and bistec here.

Lengua and Pollo Taco with Rice and Beans
    Wingyan L.

El Güero Mexicano (formerly Taco Bar El Güero) is a fantastic addition to Downtown Crown and an easy go-to for affordable, satisfying Mexican food. They specialize in all-day breakfast, along with tacos, tortas, burritos, and more, making it a great option whether you're stopping by early or grabbing dinner. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions definitely deliver. I ordered a $13 combo that included Pollo and Lengua tacos, served with rice, beans, and horchata--an excellent value. The tacos were flavorful and hit all the right notes, especially with the pickled onions and fresh cilantro, which added brightness and balance. Brian went with Al Pastor and two Carne Asada tacos, customizing them with pickled jalapeños, hot sauce, pickled onions, and cilantro. The meats were well-seasoned, and the toppings really elevated each bite. If you're looking for a casual spot with solid flavors, customizable tacos, and wallet-friendly prices, El Güero Mexicano is absolutely worth checking out. A strong comeback and a welcome refresh for the neighborhood.

You order at a counter and are given a number to display at your table. Our food took only a few minutes to arrive. The server also brought over a box holding three salsas in squeeze bottles. The green salsa was pretty mild and the orange one was super hot. The dark one was, I think, chipotle. I didn't care for the chipotle. The tacos looked great and were each pretty packed with ingredients. Pollo tacos - I thought the chicken was a bit dry and, because of that, disappointing. Veggie - The veggie were filled with cooked onion, mushroom and peppers. Although they were well prepared and held a lot of veggies, there was no seasoning, so the taste was pretty flat/boring. I had to rely on adding guac and some salsa for flavor. I was hoping the veggie would have some flavor without having to rely on sauces. Al Pastor - was very good. Guacamole - comes "market price". The side we got was $3, which I think was a good value. The guac was flavorful and was a nice portion. I am glad I had it to supplement the disappointing Veggie taco and the dryness of the Pollo. The corn tortillas were good. The place is nice and comfortable.

Push back on rushed service. Expect to be approached quickly and pushed until you order and left alone after your food arrives until you feel compelled to ask for a check and leave. Do not sit outside if you have babies/kids if you want your table to be large enough to fit your meal/drinks. -- Starting with the food, it's pretty good overall. Beans/rice come standard on a lot of options. They have a lot of creative appetizers. The guapomole and guacaviche are both worth trying. Might be a tad pricey for the portions and quality but nothing unreasonable. Burritos are a little on the small side for my expectations. During days when Rio is busy and dinner hours this place is so exceptionally busy so expect it to be loud. Everyone and their cousin has their birthday here and the wait staff are seemingly constantly singing and banging on instruments some days. The wait staff are exceptional for this type of restaurant- the reason why is likely due to so many experienced wait staff working here. And here's where we arrive at my issues with Guapo's and where it goes from a borderline 5* to a rapidly dropping 3*: Guapo's prioritizes turning tables over customer experience. And it RUINS the experience. The staff rush you to order, if you order dinner/appetizer there's a very good chance you'll be two bites into an app when your dinner arrives. Their tables are too small and too tightly packed- especially in the outside area. You can't really fit two meals, drinks, and an app on these tables for 4. Guapo's is a high volume money printer and it's become so bad I prefer looking at other options lately.
