I don't recommend this place during lunch or dinner. They clearly can not handle the traffic and you can't get your food fast enough to eat and get back because it takes a seriously long time for the food to come out, then you have to open up all the packed food to add the toppings. The line at the toppings bar can be another 10 minutes. The staff is incredibly rude, doesnt understand what dairy is, and they have never included beans in the burrito bowl and I've ordered it 4 times. Even with a cheap price, it's not worth it because the food is mediocre and they never get the order right. The chicken is dry every time. Then they charge something like 54 cents just for a Togo bag or else you have to carry the boxes. They also fail to put the orders together the way they were ordered. For example if you go with a group of friends and you each separately order, they put all the tacos mixed in 1 box. Last time it became a huge argument and they unpacked the entire order, threw away all the boxes, reboxed it, then wouldnt give our food back until we each paid (again) for 53 cents for each to go bag; held our food hostage for $2.12. If you're very poor and don't value your time, this is a decent spot to stuff your gut. And if you're thinking of taking a date here, don't. They decorated it like a NY cab stand for some reason, and it's a cafeteria, not a restaurant. Many people find the toppings bar disgusting because it is not up to health code. read more

We visited their "new to us" location which is in the Crown plaza area, across the street from the original gas station location Their prices are still more than fair. $4 for each taco, double lined tortillas and plenty of filling. Some could argue you can make two tacos out of one. The salsa bar is still fantastic so you can make your tacos just the way you like them. My favorite are the two spicy sauces. One of my favorite places to eat in Maryland! Prices are pretty reasonable and its pretty filling! I typically like to do the combo with the beef taquitos fritos and the lengua taco. I loveee how cripsy the taquitos are! The lengua meat was tender. They do not skimp out on the meat at all!! My partner often gets the chorizo nachos which is so savory and crunchy. I loved Taco Bar when they were across the street by the gas station. So I was happy when they got bigger location. This could have been a 5 star review but work on your customer service skills. The female cashiers not welcoming. However I'll give them a try. I order Milanesa which is breaded steak..it came with refried beans, rice, lettuce and tomatoes and 3 tortillas. Let me tell you , this was so delicious and comforting... reminded me how my pops would make it. The beans was delicious and that's something I normally dont eat. The price for this was $11.. and that's a steak cuz elsewhere you would pay more. My friend had her burrito bowl and it looked delicious. I ordered horchata.. I had to ask for a straw ... it seems miniscule... instead of handing me one 2 staff were like it's over there, served with a ((heavy side of attitude)) by the utensils?! Nooo?? It's empty.. like other people had to ask too... so eventually we got our straws but its ish.. like that why i say they need to work on their attitude. The restaurant is located right on the side of the street in Crown and easy street parking or garage parking. The inside has a good amount of space and this is a order upfront and find your seat with a number type of place. The cashier was nice, a little quiet but friendly. The food. I'm impressed with the amount of meat that they put on each taco! I got their Bistec (steak), Suadero (braised tender beef rib), and their Al Pastor (pork in achiote rub with pineapple). Each taco has 2 or 3 corn tortilla's stacked with meat on top. All the fixings that you could want to add to your taco was on the fixings stand. The corn tortilla was soft and not grainy, pretty good! My favorite was definitely the Suadero, so tender and flavorful, would highly recommend! 4/5! The only downside is that I had found a couple of bones inside my taco that was a surprise with that crunch on my teeth. But....still I would get it again! The Al Pastor was good flavor and tender, same with their Bistec, tender enough but decent flavor. Both I'd put it at 3.5/5 I also got their taquitos fritos, chicken and beef, both were good! The chicken was shredded chicken meat and the beef was diced up, the light crunch of the taquitos and the tender meat filling was a great combo! Steak better than the Chicken, I'd give it a 3/5! Been going to Taco Bar since the bowls were $3.50! My coworkers and I used to send each other emails with the subject line: "GSM" short for "Gas Station Mexican". Shout out to all the other OGs here! So so happy for them for getting a brand new shiny store front. The menu seemed unchanged, so don't worry, your favs are still there! We ordered the pastor nachos and a chicken burrito bowl. Nachos: These nachos are IT (IYKYK). The fact that the portion is significantly smaller when you have it as a dine-in has not changed. If you wanna load up, get the nachos to-go. The nacho cheese is unmatched, definitely the canned velvety kind, but YOLO. Burrito Bowl: I usually get the suadero burrito bowl, but tried for chicken this time. The pulled chicken isn't the best, a little bit dry, but the flavor of the rice and beans makes up for it. What could be improved - the sauce and topping station is tucked away in a far corner against a wall, and with a bigger space, I think they need more space for people to get their toppings. They definitely needed to allow access from both sides. I def stood for a solid 10 mins waiting for people in front to fill up their to-go salsa containers. Also, this is random but we sat at one of the the high chair seats and the chairs were way too high but their tables were too low. First time at their new location and it's kind off laid out similar to Spice Life next door with plenty of seating and the salsa bar in the back. It was a nice spread of salsa and toppings, all looked very fresh. Got a pick 2 combo with pollo taco, pastor quesadilla, beans and rice. Just as good as before and a pretty good portion. First time having the pollo taco and it was a huge scoop of white meat chicken. It was kinda moist, but with salsa, guac, and pickled onions, it was great. I could have sworn their small guac was a bigger container, but it's still top notch. Will definitely return again read more

My husband and I came to el Güero because our go to place Taco Bar closed. We weren't worried because it's the same owners different name. Our first date was at the old location in 2019. We came and order the chorizo nachos and the taste of the food is the same! Still flavorful, amazing and delicious. The horchata is always a hit. We loved it! Baby and I are happy. This is still a "hidden gem" restaurant. I did notice that the menu options are more and cannot wait to come back and try it out. read more

Yay! First visor since the relocated to the locating with sit down service. Still solid service and flavors. I was soooooo happy to see the condiments bar! Chips were crispy and and guacamole was so fresh. The little one got the requisite lengua and chicken tacos. Lengua is my favorite and so tender and full of flavor. I tired one of the all day breakfast platters and the spouse tried a burrito bowl. All portions are as big as you are used to and we ended up taking home food with a refill on the condiments of course. I was super sad for them to be closing down their original location but now I am super delighted and happy for them. They have kept their taste consistent and it's the same menu but a place where you can now sit down and eat in a restaurant setting. Their service is so great as the staff is so humble and friendly. Same great taste from the gas station taco bar with more seating and they brought back the unlimited salsa bar which is great. I so badly want to be able to give them a five star review because I want them to succeed, and when they were Taco Bar El Guero they were phenomenal. I believe they are capable of being a 5 star place once they work out the kinks, but right now it's lackluster. We've dined in once and ordered takeout five times, which should tell you they're good enough that we're going to keep going back. That said... If you customize anything in your order (like adding lettuce or tomatoes or crema to your burrito), they will charge you for it, but they won't actually add the ingredients. It's disappointing when you pay extra to make your meal the way you want it, but they fail to deliver. That said, they are the most affordable burritos you will find in the area, even if they omit your extras. The empanadas were incredibly under-seasoned and made my mouth sad. However, the quesadillas have been delicious every time - perfectly cheesy, full of tender meat, and a total crowd pleaser. The taquitos are also great, and are even a great leftover snack straight out of the fridge. Overall, I'm excited to see how this restaurant adapts to the feedback they receive, because I truly think they deserve a five star review for what they're capable of. We love the veggie tacos here and are frequent diners. However. . . Quesadilla + protein should include beans. I had to pay $1.00 extra for beans. They were not considered a protein!?! Beans are considered a protein to all vegetarians. I'm terribly upset about this. Knowledge is power. El Guero - you need to fix this. Had to log in to my yelp account to write on this. I just noticed it was setup in Downtown Crown so thought I'd give it a try cause i love tacos. The many positive 5 star reviews made me hopeful that this must be a great place. I heard it was related to the other Taco spot across the street which I've only heard great things about. After finishing my meal I can say I just don't get it. Nothing about the food was outstanding. Even with the "cheap" pricing I felt I paid too much based on the amount of effort put into this. I had 3 tacos (steak, pollo, pastor) with refried beans. The tacos are prepared with no sauce or condiments and little seasoning. Just bare-naked tacos with dry meat and store bought flour tortilla. I was astonished to see them serving people that. You find all the sauces and condiments at a "build-it-yourself" bar so it sits out all day uncovered. You can top off your tacos in the limited corner space or stuff everything in those tiny plastic sauce containers. Completely absurd setup. As if the kitchen cant top off every taco with just the basic onion, cilantro, lime. Every Mexican restaurant/truck worth going to does this already. Oh yea - the beans were forgettable mush, don't bother. I guess this area is starved for Mexican food, not like theres many great options. I'd rather go the distance to Burrito Ranchero truck or pay more at a Taco Bamba and leave with a smile. read more

Tried this for lunch today. Had the sope combo with beef as the protein. The good:fair portions for the price $13.00) before tax. In any combo you get two of the "entree", rice and pinto beans and a soda. The so-so all of the food was kind of bland and in my opinion needs more seasonings. The service was friendly and timely. It's not fancy but clean. I would go back. Next time I will try the salsa bar to improve the seasoning level. read more

As in the owners' other locations, the food and service are excellent. Unfortunately my tortillas were cold and there's a charge for chips. The space is small so getting a large group together is difficult. Will likely be back next time am in town. read more
