They seemed pretty friendly. You can also just point out items on the menu. It essentially broken down into tapas, salads and grilled seafood and meat platters, with some specials. The bravas miguelitas are basically patatas bravas and they were awesome, in a delicious paprika coating with aioli. The salad with Jamon y queso was pretty good. I've had better salads elsewhere but this was a huge portion and not too bad. The octopus (pulpo) special came in an oil and paprika mixture over a bed of thinly sliced potatoes. It was excellent. The portions were fairly big even though we ordered the smaller size. The prices were reasonable. Would recommend if you are driving by this town.

This place serves very typical dishes from Requena, lots of meat, soups, stews etc. Since Requena is in the mountains the winters are much colder than in Valencia and eating a heavy meal after visiting a Winery is a must ;) Today I visited with my family, it was Monday so lots of places are closed in Requena but luckily Meson Fortaleza was open and quiet busy! During the week they offer a menu for 10 euro. We ordered Morteruelo (local dish with liver) as an appetizer. The Gazpacho Manchego (local meat stew with flat bread) was delicious, and the chickpea stew was tasty with very tender chickpeas. The Lamb chops and chicken were good. The desert nothing special or maybe I was just too full to appreciate it ;) The restaurant has a medieval decor and friendly and efficient service. Good value for money.
