I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately it was a big disappointment. The food was below average for the price, service was slow and inattentive, and the overall experience just felt careless. Simple things were missed, and no effort was made to fix the issues once they were pointed out. For a spot that looks like it should deliver good food and decent service, it fell very short. If you're in Chicago, you ride the El, but if you're on the Northside of Houston, you just go to El Kiosko. Definitely one of the best little stands for Mexican goodies, and well worth a trip. Wait times can be long, prices can be high, service isn't always friendly, but the goodies are delicious as expected. If I could give ZERO stars I would. The employees are rude and it takes forever to get your order. It's not clean and the freezer that the scoop the ice cream from looks dirty and gross. We have been going to El Kiosko for at least 10 years now... the prices of a cup of corn has increased by 2 fold. It used to be 3-4 dollars for a cup... it's now 8 dollars and some change. We ordered 3 cups of corn and it was $30!!! We might as well gone out to eat and had a full meal(rather than a snack size cup of corn) for what we paid. In the past we haven't gotten near enough spice in our corn(that's really what makes Mexican corn) and mentioned to the lady to make it spicy like menus states it will be ... she said that if we want it spicy we have to pay 50 cents extra ... on top of the astronomical $8 we were already paying! After 10 years of patronage we will NOT be returning to this El Kiosko or any other location in Houston. read more

Nice, clean establishment conveniently located off of Airline and 45. My coworkers shared how this place has really good juices and snacks so we decided to go there for lunch. I ordered the tortada with shredded chicken and a watermelon raspas. I'm usually not a fan of shredded chicken because the times I had it, it was dry; however, the shredded chicken here was cooked well. It came with some green salsa which made it spicy (on the menu it lets you know how spicy it is) but it made the tortada very very yummy. I definitely will get that try again. Also, the watermelon raspas was good too. It was a little pricey for a small. Recommend giving this place a try. read more

I went with 2 friends to get 3 elotes around 7:30pm. It was only one girl on duty, she ignored us completely and we notice that 2 people there was desperate waiting to get their order that they already payed. We wait exactly 5 minutes to see if she wanted to do something, but looks like she didn't wanted to be there, and she didn't wanted to take more orders. This place NEEDS to have a supervisor to make those girls work, other wise that place is going to lose a lot of money with that lazy people. read more

Man I went this place and I ask for la torta del chavo del 8 and is very expensive and once they give the torta, I understand why they call it el chavo! I've been to 3 different Kiosko locations... This one is the closest to my house... I had the Cheese and blackberry ice cream, super delicious!! I can eat that daily! Strawberries and their house cream sauce.. Just amazing!!! I love everything they serve!.... Sadly, had to dock a point today. Looks like they get overwhelmed by the lunch crowd. Came in at 12:45 on Tuesday afternoon and had to wait 15 minutes just for a Trole and about half of their flavors had apparently frozen too hard so they weren't able to serve the pina colada I was craving. Though the flavors are still good, expect possible delays or hiccups in their service. Still going back though, just earlier in the day. The cashier was super nice but the other person behind the counter seemed like she was hiding or taking to long to get orders out. They certainly need to work on their flow models. read more
