I personally love this place. It's the quiet, be left alone style of Cuban restaurant. If you want that loud chatty vibrant Cuban, go to a different place, that's not the atmosphere here. The food is the simple Cuban dishes that are the basics and DELICIOUS. If you want that full strength Cubano coffee, you have to know the correct name for it(notice I don't know it?). Otherwise you're getting Cafe con leche cause they're NOT going to be responsible for killing you! Nobody wants murder by coffee on their wrap sheet. My kid is partial to their flan. My mother LOVES their bacon. And I adore the Cuban sandwich (say light mayo, depending who cooks they like sharing their love of the stuff). read more

This review is for "El Mambo II. I've been there 4 times and not once those cuban girls were nice. Never again, they are rude, all 4 times that I went there with different friends, everyone said, let's get out of here they haven't even say hi, bad service. The food was not a big deal at all. Now, the other Mambos on Cape Coral Pkwy, they are nicer and the food is much better, better service. read more

First Cuban restaurant I've tried since moving here to SWFL. Was here on a Friday for lunch around 11:45 am and by noon people started showing up but not exceptionally busy. We both tried the Friday specials of Chivo en Vino and Ropa Vieja. The Chivo en Vino was a simmered goat meat in a wine sauce which had a lot of flavor and a savory broth. The Ropa Vieja, a standard Cuban dish to my understanding was shredded beef in a light gravy. I thought this item was good but not over the top with flavor and substance. Both were served with white rice, and a choice of two sides. We opted to have Yucca that was steamed not fried and sweet Maduro or plantains. Both sides were very satisfying. Service was very slow with not too many visits to the table and we had to "flag" her for the check. The Papaya drink I ordered was asked for it to be made with water and not milk which was a good choice I thought and payed off as it was very good for a hot summer day. Overall it was not a bad experience but nothing extraordinary. We spent about $35 for two. read more

Well I must say this..FRESH SQUEEZE ORANGE JUICE. The only place I have found that gives it to you. Now to other matters... I always give a tip... This time NO... The waitress I had was terrible... I order my juice and coffee. I had to ASK for a menu. When I got my coffee it was luke warm. It was not busy. maybe 4 other table in a 20 table place.. My food arrived with a Couple who came in 7 minutes after I sat down. PLUS it was served by ANOTHER NICE WAITRESS. The breakfast was great. $3.50 for 3 eggs, choice of meat, toast & coffee. We went here in search of authentic Cuban coffee and were terribly disappointed. We had Cuban coffee before... And this ain't it! When we asked for Cuban coffee specifically, the server went over to a latte machine and pressed a button so that premade espresso and milk came out. That's mambo III's version of the Cuban coffee... on top of that, the service is apathetic at best. There's no reason to go here for coffee. Save your $1.25. read more

We wanted to eat at a Cuban Restaurant. It was fine for lunch/breakfast. We had the Cuban sandwich and my daughter had the fish. I will post pictures. Our server was very pleasant. This is a fun experience if you have never tried a Cuban restaurant. I recommend trying the desserts and sweet plantains and we really liked the tamale. read more

CRAZY CHEAP!! Came for breakfast before a flight, and was pleasantly surprised to pay only $24 for 4 people. Unfortunately, I only had the Cuban sandwich, so I've yet to try everything else. I would've tried their fried chicken, but at 11am, they still didn't have that ready. Will have to try the rest next time I'm in town! read more

This place is utterly disgusting. I am not sure how its still in business. I am from Miami and i know authentic Cuban food. This place was just disgusting. The Cuban Coffee and milk ( made from a machine they said) tasted like pure crap. Then cuban bread, WASN'T CUBAN BREAD and it was old. The waitress was so rude. As we told her NOBODY ATE their food because it taste bad sge started screaming. So unprofessional. Then the actual owner/cook came out and was going to call the cops on us because we only paid for the food we did eat. Why would i pay for the food that was old. This place needs to be shut down. I don't ever comment on an establishment mainly because I usually don't want to waste my time but in this instance I felt compelled to do so because the food was just bad. First, let me preface this by saying I am of caribbean latin decent currently living in south east Florida so I know what good Cuban food is supposed to taste like. Second, I don't understand the positive comments left by previous patrons unless they have replaced the cook or the local palate is just used to bland food. Third, the service was good and waitress was friendly and attentive. Fourth, we were a group of about 6 and all ordered something different on the menu. We were all in agreement that everything that was ordered was bland, lacking any flavor, and/or not fresh. My hope is not to persuade people from going to this restaurant but to motivate the people running this establishment to do better because this is a very poor representation of true Cuban cuisine and if this is the norm than this business will truly be out of business soon. I will not be returning, there are way better options in the area. read more

This last Sunday 2/23/14 I had the worst experience @ The Mambo III. I spent $69 and all the food ended up in the garbage!! By the way, I am Cuban & DO KNOW Cuban food!! First of all, I ordered 6 Cuban sandwiches & 3 media noches. I was trying to impress American friends with 'REAL' Cuban food. When I arrived at the restaurant, there was not enough bread to fill my order (from what I've heard they had this problem for a few hours), I got 5 Cuban sandwiches and 2 media noches, in addition, I ordered 2 pork roast orders with rice & black beans. I can overlook those problems, but when I got home with the food!! The rice was very dry like leftover rice from a few days ago that has been heated and reheated a few times. The black bean where very diluted with water, and the pork was dried up! BAD CHOICE #1. Then the horror of horrors the Cuban sandwiches, when my guests starting eating them everyone started pulling PLASTIC THREADS out of their mouths. BAD CHOICE #2. We came to find out that it was the outside plastic of the ham that had been sliced with the plastic on!! When we started looking inside the sandwiches, we realized (TO MY HORROR) the ham was some kind of press pseudo ham not REAL ham!! Cuban sandwiches are made with REAL ham and REAL pork. I was trying to impress my friends, and instead I was embarrassed beyond words. I WASTED $69 DOLLARS and ALL THE FOOD WENT INTO THE GARBAGE. Monday around 11 A.M., I called the main restaurant and asked for the owner. I was informed he was already gone for the day and will not be back. I asked who was in charge in his absence and was told no one was in charge. (By the way, wheat milkshake is not made from cheap no name weird cereal.) Businesses cut corners, but when it compromises the food beyond all recognition it must be hard to be the owner trying to represent Cuban food in Cape Coral to an American populace when the real Cubans consider his restaurant's food inedible!! I am so EMBARRASSED. The lucky ones were the couple of American customers that had to leave, when I was there, for lack of bread. My suggestions to any Americans wanting to sample Cuban food go to Pollo Tropical (moist rice & roasted pork) or Miami café good Cuban sandwiches. I am sorry, but I can't allow Americans to think El Mambo's Cuban sandwiches are the REAL thing (GO TO PUBLIX their Cuban sandwiches are better because they use REAL quality ham).
