Oops.. she really overcharged! And still charge us the service charge!
    Hope M.

Ok friends... here is the ride. The Good: Nope, nothing. Not one thing to report here! Not even the service. The Bad: It's the food. It's bad. It's so spicy and the flavors are so old/off, you can't eat it. The flavors are waaaaay off! The Birria was so fatty and the goat flavor was ... oh my cheeses.... I understand the flavor of goat, I've had it many times, but lawd! It's like it sat out for a few days before the cooking process began. The beans were off with a strong baking soda flavor. The rice was the only edible thing. Fish taco. It was a lettuce/Pico de gallo taco with a strong fish flavor. There was a small strip of fish that... well let's just say you could taste the bottom of the river. Hard pass. The Texas taco was supposed to be homemade chorizo. It was actually ok. That's all I have to say about that. The Ugly: Ok the Wet burrito. I ordered shrimp for the meat choice. It showed up about 20-30 minutes after everything else. I cut it in half ready to see the shrimp. As you see in the photo, I was highly disappointed. There was probably 5-10 shrimp chopped up and scattered throughout. The green sauce was so super spicy, after about five bites you couldn't taste anything anymore. And let's not talk about later that evening ... oh no no no. The service... we walked in and tried to find anyone who worked there. After 10 minutes, we just sat down at the closest table. Another 20 minutes before someone asked if we wanted drinks. Yes, it was just like that. No, hello welcome, no communication of any kind, just chips dropped on the table and "what do you want to drink". When I said water, no ice please, it wasn't what they wanted to hear. It's natural to ask questions about the menu and food for a first time visit. We did tell her it was our first time there. When asked how the birria was, even the server said "I don't like it". HA should of took the hint, but nooooo. Hubby still wants to try it. We finished, and found someone for the check instead of waiting forever. The total was $40.99. So hubby went to pay. I overheard him saying, you need to fix this. I turned around and found out she had picked up someone else's ticket, even after hubby handed her ours, and charged our card over $75! How do you mess that up? He handed you our ticket! It was refunded, hasn't hit the bank yet though. Then they rerun the card without apology and even charged a 3% service fee. This place is a HARD PASS. One and done! Not recommended. On my list of the lowest 3 in Turlock!

I've passed this business countless times and finally decided to try it. I was not disappointed! Nice portions and the food was very delicious. We'll be back to try more! The location itself is nothing to look at but the food was very worth it. Would recommend to any Mexican seafood lover. The micheladas are also worth a try. Served in a tall mug with shrimp garnish.

I asked for chile Colorado but they didn't have that available. So I got the chile verde plate. I got chips and salsa. The salsa was spicy. It was a good spicy too. The chips were fresh, not stale at all. The chile verde was spicy and flavorful. So yummy! The rice and beans were good too. I got my plate with flour tortillas. Very good place. Will be coming back soon!

The food is is very good. The environment is very clean and modern. The service is welcoming and attentive. I got the shredded chicken enchiladas plate with green sauce, the chicken was not dry at all and the whole plate was wonderful. My husband got the spicy octopus in a red sauce. Mine was not spice at all but if you get the spice octopus be ready it has a kick, not so spicy you can't enjoy it but it's spicy. The plates are good portions. The salsa they give you with chips is also spicy but so good I had 2 servings of it. We came around 230 3 pm on a Saturday. Not busy at all. The tv's were on sports. The menu is very big lots of seafood to pick from and they have other things other then seafood. I'll be coming back , this review is for the one in Turlock. I know there is one in Modesto I have not been to that one. Go and have a good meal!

Nice food with a great view!

My parents suggest coming to this place after coming from working long days in our respective professions. If you have read my previous reviews, my family and I are huge on supporting local businesses around the Turlock area. This place also has a history of previous owners who were not able to make a profit off of their food cuisine. Unfortunately, the previous owner(s) had a different kind of lucky in a bad way. The previous owner's business burned down for an unknown reason for most of us Turlockians (if that is even a word). My family decided to give this place a try since opening up near our house back from last year in March or May. My family and I do not go and eat at this location very often, but when we do, I am very proud of their service and generosity. Very often, my family and I collaborate together on a place to eat after working long days and stressful environments. El Marisquero is very close to my household, and eating here is very convenient. The location and neighborhood are not the best environments, but the restaurant is very welcoming, clean, and simple. The restaurant was empty and quiet, but I appreciate the silence when there is not a lot of people in a restaurant. An excellent opportunity to enjoy the food's taste and aroma without any outside distractions (mindful eating). Honestly, I am not positive on why people are not flocking to this restaurant due to their customer service and their target population (cheap, Mexican food). Based on my previous visit to this restaurant, the restaurant's environment can be very calm on a weekday. I asked the waitress about her busy time of the week. She replied weekends for sure where families would flock in the restaurant together. She believes seeing more people in the restaurant and seeing parked cars in our parking lot are the best marketing tool for our business. The restaurant does not have any music playing in the background, but there is a television to watch sports or any activities while eating and a boom box machine to play music when inserted money. The restaurant's theme is on point with their environment. Very colorful and decorated. The restaurant's layout is also very standard where they make it possible to have a family gathering and small parties to enjoy their food together. I would recommend this restaurant for a family gathering and small parties during the weekdays. The restaurant's service is very excellent and personal. Although the restaurant was mute and empty when I entered the restaurant, I was welcome with a smile and a greeting from the waitress at the front desk with a menu in her hand. She guided me to an available table near the television. She asked for my permission for the spot and immediately asked for my drink while giving me a menu. She came back with chips and salsa, and my drink (water. I know I am boring), and a very generous smile. She gave me enough time to observe the menu and provide my choice from the menu. Honestly, the menu was very simple and generic. The menu did not show a very distinct difference from other Mexican restaurants. The waitress was also very genuine and patience. I took a while to decide what to eat, and she initiates the conversation between us which a huge plus on my scale. She was very consistent on asking refills and didn't bother me while I was eating my meal. Next, The restaurant's menu choices seem very straightforward and traditional. I had an excellent look at the menu, and I found out that the restaurant does not have many alternative menu options outside of a Latin or Mexican food cuisine. For my vegan and vegetarian friends, there were a very limited amount of menu options with a nice protein source. Also, the restaurant's prices were not too bad compared to other Mexican restaurants. I know the quality of the restaurant was very casual and the prices resemble a very reasonable price for each meal. I ordered diablo shrimp. The shrimp was accompanied with rice, beans, salad, and a choice of corn or flour tortillas. The shrimp were not the best quality of seafood, but the diablo sauce was very tasteful and spicy. Overall, I give this restaurant a 4 out of 5 for their environment, customer service, and very decent quality of food. The restaurant does need to improve on their food's texture and provide a very style of Mexican cuisine or theme to separate it from other casual Mexican restaurants. The restaurant will flourish with several family gatherings and a fantastic atmosphere for celebration I would recommend my friends, family, and clients to give this restaurant a try.

We ordered a michelada and a Cadillac margarita--both were bad. The michelada tasted watered down, and the Cadillac was just plain nasty. My fiancé ordered the chile verde and asked me to try it. I literally had to spit it out into a napkin. The flavor was that bad. We came with three other friends, and all of us agreed we would never return. For a Mexican restaurant, especially a chain, you'd expect flavorful, well-made food--but that was not the case at all. Very disappointed with this location in Turlock. Zero out of 10. Would not recommend.

I have seen so much traffic in and out for quite some time, so had this place on my "try it" list…read more The exterior looks nice, the lobby is pretty tasteful. So here are the pros: Service was good, chips, salsa and bean dip came out pretty quick. The bean dip is really good. The salsa is a little spicy and they don't have a milder option for spice intolerant folks like my wife. I enjoyed the salsa, she didn't. We ordered 2 chicken items, Garlic Chicken and diabla chicken. Both essentially the same item but with different sauces. The Garlic chicken was good for a bit, and then became pretty overpowering. The sauce is a butter sauce, that would probably be great on some pasta. The Diabla chicken was anything but spicy. The red sauce it was in was about as spicy as milk. The pickled jalapeño slices served on the plate were extremely spicy in comparison and they didn't have much heat to them. The service was much better than the food. I'm really surprised they have the amount of traffic they do with the food as lacking as it is. Might be the bar is where the draw is.
