I had to rewrite this review because my verbiage was against the standards so I'm going to give this a more thoughtful shot. The server was pretty good, he was busy but still managed to check in and also helped out with the salsa and hot sauce because there is not bite to either. The food was decent but I would say this to me is not an authentic Mexican cuisine. It's not Tex-mex but maybe close. It's right next to the golf course so it does get busy from the golf club members rolling up on their golf carts. It is a pretty upbeat environment, and a little loud. So loud you won't be able to think! This place is so overrated. Food was OK but very much leans toward Mexican vs TexMex. Know that before you order. For instance, the carnitas tacos won't be what most people expect. They were chunks of pork that my son was not expecting and did not care for. Oh, and the biggest issue of this place BY FAR is the noise level. It was so loud in there I could barely think straight, much less carry on a conversation with anyone at my table. If it hadn't been for noise cancelling AirPods, I would've been screwed. Take my advice, pass on this place until they install some major sound dampening (if they ever do). read more

Lunch today before church was @elmirasolsa 1604. It's been a while since we've visited. They had a breakfast menu in addition to the regular menu. Dad had scrambled eggs with potatoes and rice. Hubby had the beef parrillada, which had all the fixings. I had the barbacoa taco, which came packed and with avocado. Most everything was good except my barbacoa lacked flavor. Perhaps this is the foodie in me; San Antonio isn't too far from the ranch. Just over an hour depending on traffic. So, I'm constantly watching for spots to hit for personal visits and also car club destinations. We already have a few favorites; recently asked the local car club peeps about El Mirasol. GF and I decided to head south over the weekend and stopped there based on local knowledge. Seated quickly here's my thoughts. You obvs start with chips and salsa. Chips were fine but the roasted salsa was damn weak on heat and flavor. I mean, Taco Cabana is actually spicier. I'm reading after the fact here on Yelp there might be another option we could have asked for? Entrees presented us with redemption but also some questions. Denoted as Taquitos on the menu is actually just tacos. Not fried rolls as seen at your local HEB. Her plate was tiny Corn Tortillas laden with marinated pork. Handhelds times 4 in traditional tiny bites (street tacos folks) complete with Cotija on top. In true Rooster fashion I went for seafood enchiladas in the Pesca style with a mix instead of straight one ingredient. Worthy of more exploration! read more

Met up with a friend for drinks and a meal. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri which did not disappoint. It was strong! Even had a dollop of whipped cream on it, cute. We didn't order any apps, just went straight to entrees but they brought chips and salsa to the table immediately, the chips seemed fresh and the salsa was pretty good but a bit watery. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas and I honestly wasn't impressed. The food came way too fast to be fresh. The shrimp was a bit rubbery, I think there was some sort of cheese sauce on it. It came with a white rice and some plantains but none of it was Anthony to write home about. I wouldn't order it again. Our server Guillermo was live, pretty attentive, they kept our water full and brought more salsa when ours was low. The place was pretty packed, the parking lot was full, I had to park in an adjoining lot. When we were leaving, ppl were parked on the sidewalk and the grass. Location and service are always good. Perfect spot to meet halfway with friends coming in from town. Food is hit or miss. I've enjoyed their lunch meals which were great, and these fajitas were excellent, with a good price point. Rajas needed more work,and ceviche more shrimp. I took the sister and her son of an elderly friend that he pass day before yesterday and I just met them for the first time in such a sad situation and they wanted a good Mexican restaurant and I was told el mirasol. Overall experience was good and we would try it again. The service was a little spotty at the beginning. Probably took our server 5-6 minutes to greet us. However the woman who brought our chips, salsa and water came relatively quick. We ordered margaritas. A pet peeve of mine is no drink menu which played a part here but the margaritas were above average. We really enjoyed the salsa. Slightly different from what you normally find. Had a smoky balanced flavor. The tortilla soup had a good broth but everything else just lacked. The enchiladas were very tasty. I met my "future son in law" for an early lunch here. He picked it due to location. It turned out to be a great location with ample parking. I was early, but the host offered to seat me anywhere. I picked a location that could see the entrance. Almost immediately a young lady came by with menus and offered to get my drink order. She brought that quickly, along with chips and salsa. After he showed up, we placed our orders. I got the beef fajita enchiladas that came with rice and beans. Our orders came quickly and were piping hot. Everything was as ordered and was tasty. The help, including the manager, kept coming by to check on us and to make sure everything was fine. I have to say that the service was excellent. Yes the drinks were delicious and delicious and strong, however, the rest of my experience did not amaze me. The service was slow, I understand the restaurant was busy but our waiter completely forgot about us. Many times we had to ask other staff members to get him. Then the fajitas were not good, I made the mistake of getting the chicken, steak and shrimp fajitas. The taste and smell of seafood really took over the whole entire skillet. Pretty good food with some non traditional options. Parking lot isn't the biggest and can get pretty busy, but I've never had much of a problem when I visit. The salsa and queso are basic, but good. Nothing too special there. The shrimp quesadillas are soo good. Probably some of the best I've had. The crab taquitos are pretty tasty too. Margaritas are good and actually taste like something. Whenever you walk in it's super cute and the workers were welcoming. They give you chips and salsa to start at the table. The chips were hot and good however the salsa kinda tasted like bbq. We came to try the Chispa but there is so much more to enjoy. Our group was big 16 of us which for them was no problem. We were sat quickly and the staff got everything flowing from drink and food orders, to ice waters, of course chips and all their delicious salsas. Our food came out quickly which is a surprise for any big group. It was so good I forgot to take pictures or was it the chispa and Mexican candy shots that was the cause? Their spinach salad was a delicious surprise although there was too much dressing. I would definitely suggest asking for lightly dressed. Chicken tortilla soup is like nothing I have had before. It comes with toppings on the side to add yourself chicharron, queso fresco and avocado. Get the soup and the Carnitas taquitos with the adobo sauce. The pork was tender and juicy. We ended our meal with their delicious churros. So if you have room order them But they are hot so bite carefully and enjoy the deliciousness. This is a very popular restaurant in San Antonio, they are famous for the Chispas, a drink with Tequila, very tasty but dangerous lol , they are quite strong and people loves them! Today I want to share these two dishes we ordered, first we have the Ribeye Tacos, with charro beans, guacamole and pico de gallo, very tender meat and so tasty! We also ordered the Tampiquena al Chef, OMF definitely the best dish they have (in my humble opinion) the meat melts in your mouth and it's so delicious!! And it comes with a white sauce with mushrooms, salad and veggies, Epic plate! You must order it!! And we finished with some churros, they are ok, not my favorite tbh. The only thing I don't like about this restaurant, is the acoustics, it's so loud inside, you almost have to yell when the restaurant is full. The wait is long and they don't do reservations. I am a bit torn on this one. Upon entering the first thing that hit me was the level of noise! It was so loud in there my friend and I decided to sit on the patio. It was hot today but there were fans and shade and a breeze so it was nice. We started with the beef nachos and while they were good, they were no where near some I've had. The beans were barely there, some finely diced "carne" was sprinkled on top followed by a generous amount of cheese. There was a small bowl of guacamole and a bowl of jalapeños served on the side. They were good but I wouldn't order them again. We had the carne asada taquitos to share. Again... good.. but nothing special. The chips and salsa were both very good and the margaritas were great. The service was fantastic and I wish I was excited about the food. I'll try again and order different to see if it makes a difference! read more

I had a good customer service experience hence the high rating. Fast and efficient. Quick background I am first gen Mexican so this food is not authentic. Im not mad about it sometimes i crave the tex mex and love it. The ceviche was okay. The fish is fresh but it had mayo on it and it didnt really taste like a ceviche more like an elevated tuna can recipe. I recommend if i could for them to make a more traditional ceviche. However the rest was great, drinks are a bang for your buck for a place like this (nice restaurant) and the service was quick and prompt. Its very nice inside clean and orderly. read more

Lowlights on this review are gonna be longer then the highlights. Juan was our server for this experience. When we got seated he did not seem happy to serve us. We asked for recommendations and got a side eye. He just then pointed to the menu and told us to pick off the menu. We ordered drinks and then asked what's the best sweet drink he could serve. Again side eye and pointed to the menu with no help. We just ordered and he walked away. DO NOT ORDER the Caesar salad here. It tasted like welted lettuce and the dressing separated. Our food came out and it looked so yummy! However not the case. Charro beans were cold. All entrees came with a apple salad (weird for a Mexican restaurant). However on the menu it showed beans and rice. So everyone was caught of guard with that on their plates. Highlights Drinks were good! & queso was good! Action plans this restaurant could potentially work on: 1. Have service with a smile and willing to serve. 2. Talk about the menu and options to potentially walk through. 3. Serve the food hot. 4. This place is so overrated. All you're paying for is the ambience & location. I've had better authentic Mexican food than this.. their homemade corn tortillas were horrible. Food was cold. Service was awful. Well at least the guy we had.. Borracho beans how can you get those wrong, no taste.. I've had better at Jalisco's restaurants all of them instead of Marisol.. how can you get chicken tacos wrong, their sauce was awful.
