    The oily empanada
    Marilyn C.

Update 7/16/2019: My second time here and am very sad typing this. I used to like this place and I don't know what happened . I went to breakfast today here at 11am , i haven't been in soo long . I asked for a coffee , empanada and hígado . First let's start with the coffee : it's instant coffee and it was awful . There should be a law against restaurant servicing instant coffee . I really didn't see if she boiled the water or Just put it in the microwave . But it was a bad ....beyond bad . Second : Finally the empanada came . When I split in half it literally the oil inside of it exploded . You will picture below and you will see there was a sea of oil inside this empanada. The oil dripped everywhere . I have never seen anything like this at any other place . Third : the liver had potential . The woman who cooked it , can't cook . It was the most horrid breakfast I ever had anywhere . everything took a long time and I was the only one there . The service was subpar ... non existent. When the other girl showed up (she showed up with her son), she was a bit friendlier but she showed up towards the end of my bad experience . I left there with the longest face sad and mad at the same time . To the owner or owners of this restaurant . You should make coffee not instant . A really great cup of coffee it's a great way to start . Second the girl who was there cooking can't cook . She couldn't even get an easy empanada right . Two: the hígado breakfast has potential but it was not good. If you don't cook with peace and joy , your food will show it. I really would hate to see this place go out of business . I probably won't be coming here any time soon . i had the feeling that the lady cooking and serving doesn't care for this place . I hope it changes . If they continue this I don't see them there in five years . There are six great options around for Colombian restaurant near by you got to step up your game . Don't get

The food here was absolutely delicious, I had the Camarones de crema and my friend had the Mini Montañero. Our waiter was very nice, professional, attentive (even though it was busy) our order was urgent to him, also he placed our leftovers neatly in the bag for us and to end our visit, he also held the door when we left. The restaurant was immaculate, I will definitely be coming here again!!!

Like a piece of Colombian heaven in Rhode Island.... we had the traditional Plato monrañero with passion fruit and berry natural juices! The place decor is very traditional like I was back in Medallo! The staff super friendly and I'm telling u one of the cleanest restaurants I had the pleasure to eat.... plenty of parking and good music! The desserts out of this world! The food was awesome, old fashion flavor that can only be master by someone that was born and raise in Colombia! I will Definitely b back....

I'm picky about my empanadas, and the ones I had here were incredible! The service was fabulous.

Tener en cuenta que te cobran hasta el uso de la tarjeta de crédito y que la propina ya está incluida en la factura. La comida es buena.

Parking can be challenging especially seeing this restaurant runs on Lonsdale Ave a busy street in itself. The line was out the door and that's where I stood waiting patiently. The love moves at a decent pace. Here finally my turn and I honestly had no clue what to expect or what they even really sold but I was hoping they had anything that contained ham and cheese and they did, Brad with ham and cheese for $3.50 I was surprised that was all. They do gave finger foods, drinks coffee and fruit drinks, breads, pastries of many sorts. I was tempted to get a pastry but I stayed focused. The bread was actually good and tasted fresh they only concern which was a big one for me was that there was hardly any ham and cheese in it and I mean like barely none. I could have actually went with just bread as that's what I felt I received. Would I return maybe especially if I am in mood for something g sweet as the variety was plenty to choose from. There is a sit down area on both sides of the restaurant with one big screen tv. This place seems more of a grab and go type establishment. They open at 5:00am and close at I believe 9:00 pm

I don't speak much Spanish so used to get intimidated going into order but the food is just so good, it was worth every trip. Great news is that they just got an online ordering platform! You can order right online for pick up and bypass the long line out the door. The place is always busy but worth the wait, I would definitely suggest ordering online if you are in a rush. They don't have much parking but I always somehow find street parking. It's a very casual place with cafeteria style seating. I get the chicken with potato empanadas, beef empanadas, with their homemade hot sauce. They also have a ton of pastries. All homemade DELICIOUS!

This place is massive, with lots of tables to dine in, and a bakery section. We ordered the following: Mondongo (pequeño), bandeja paisa, lengua sudada, and res apanada. The food came out in about 20 minutes. The serving sizes were a little bigger than normal (I am not complaining), every plate looked delicious, and all the plates were hot and fresh. The mondongo was tasty and had a good amount of tripe and the right thickness of the broth. I chuckled when I saw the side of banana, but honestly, it made for a good desert. The bandeja paisa brings a litte bit of everything and it all was cooked well. The lengua sudada was very tender and flavorful and the yucca was soft, with the sauce it was in giving it a really good flavor. The res apanada was a bit tough and the breading did not stick on too well, but overall the flavor was good and the breading was crispy which I enjoyed. The best part of it all was the prices. It is very affordable and you will leave full.   The bakery is inexpensive and the items I have tried and good. They do have a large parking lot and it's free. While in the area, you could visit the Slater Mill (they have tours you could sign up for) or visit the public library. One thing to note is that the GPS might bring you to their old location a couple blocks up the street, so do a little bit of research for the address beforehand.

And few of the reviews even stated that this restaurant was just as good but less expensive. And some reviews indicated it was a hit or miss when dining here. I just have to say that yes it's cheaper and no it should not be compared Los Andes. They may both be of a Peruvian cuisine but that's where the similarities ends. The product you get here is ok and cheaper and that's ok if you're not too worried about the quality and the taste, atmosphere or the service. This is a small dated restaurant that offers no atmosphere what so ever. Definitely not a clean restaurant by any means. Table surface was tacky and looks like the floor was not swept.
