A few French microbrews (bottles) available my fellow beer snobs. The other more in depth reviews hit it spot on. Don't miss this place!

I really enjoyed he slow-cooked egg, the pork back on the plancha was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The terrine wasn't my favorite, it was a bit too plain and since it wasn't tapas-sized it ended up being a bit too filling. That said the dessert was a perfect finish. I had the milk chocolate Chantilly and it was perfect. I was a bit worried about the Lapsang Souchong gimmick but it ended up not overpowering it at all, and the salt & olive oil combo worked really well. Our waitress was nice and -- despite us asking about one of the mid-priced Reds -- recommended the cheapest Luberon. I was skeptical but it turned out to be a great pairing and a much better choice. Considering the (not excessive) price difference, this was a token of honesty on her part which will warrant loyalty on my part. Yes, it's a small place, but it's Paris. We made a reservation for 8pm and there were only two other tables at the time. It filled up entirely by 8:45. The only issue we had was a wobbly table. Stools didn't feel very secure either and they (sadly) have no back so if you have back issues, be aware of that.

What a find! A little tapas bar not far from Gare de l'Est has figured out how to bring a little…read morepiece of Spain to Paris. The tapas are great - and they have most of the stuff I am looking to help me bring back memories of losing myself along the streets of Madrid. I was brought here by some friends who live in the street and another friend who is Spanish. This is a traditional Spanish bar/restaurant - not a trendy luxury tapas place. The plates are maybe not super fresh or gourmet - but they are not like that in Spain most of the time either. I love their Pulpo de Gallega, the Patatas Bravas, and when I went the other night they had Pimientos de Padron on special - what a treat (but I was sad that there were no spicy ones in my plate...). If you are looking for something to snack on while you start your evening - grab a place at the bar if you can because the places are limited but you get better prices on the tapas/beers. However, if you are with a group of friends and have the stomach and money for a full tapas experience, grab a table near the bar (or even go up to the full restaurant upstairs) and order a full range of your favorite Spanish dishes. I have heard that the Paella is good but I have never tried it. Personally, I like the atmosphere at the bar better than the restaurant - but that can depend on who you go with and in what context. Again - think typical - not trendy. The beer is Spanish (I think it comes from near Zaragoza) and is not very expensive - and I think at some point I realized that it is actually cheaper to order small beers than to order a full pint... If Spain is playing soccer - expect yelling and wholehearted enthusiasm from the local Spanish customers who frequent this place on a regular basis. And in the summer time they even set up a keg outside sometimes if there is an important game. If you will be disappointed by TVs and Spanish sports fans - this might not be the place for you. But if you want a taste of Spain "a l'ancien" - this spot should float your boat.

The Sepia A la Plancha and Gambes A Ajillo were fantastic. The paella was moist and tasty, not the usual drier overdone version. The recommended red wine was very average, out of league with the food. The Ambar draft beer eas served with a warm mug, robbing the draft beer of the chill!
