Do not put a bartender at the bar that does not have a language barrier with the patrons. The big beautiful sign says come in if you need a drink. I sit at the bar and the non language barrier containing man says what will you have...I say the watermelon martini...he says ok and several minutes go by and I wonder where's my first drink. I assume he's busy probably making other drinks for other customers as they were somewhat busy not terribly busy though. I look up from my phone and he's talking to a man that has a beautiful black woman with him. I guess he figured that he had more to tip and showed him more attention. Elbows and arms comfortably on the bar fully engaged in the conversation with them, I was convinced he forgot about me. This place is must try for the tex-mex food and they are not expensive either. We were a group of 5 adults and 3 kids. We were promptly seated and drinks were served. I ordered chicken enchiladas with Mole. They were exceptional. My wife ordered Veg fajitas and quesadillas to share and they loved. Kids enjoyed the Queso and chips and the rice. The staff was polite given the clear language barrier. I could not recognize my food because of the horrible presentation. The refried beans taste like they were seriously watered down. Shoutout to Angela. She was our waitress on our first visit here today and she did a great job. Owners and managers do whatever you need to do to hang onto her or she'll easily be able to go elsewhere. My first impression was it's larger than it looks on the outside with ample outdoor seating as well. From what I could see glancing around it was kept clean. There were no tables with dirty dishes left on them anywhere and the floor was clean. The Day of the Dead (El Día de los Muertos) artwork is a bold and risky move but it paid off. It's vibrant and colorful and would look great under a blacklight I bet for party occasions. You know what? Maybe a blacklight spotlight just shining directly onto the artwork to make it pop would look fantastic and wouldn't require blacklighting the entire room. Personally, I really like it. We were greeted and seated immediately. Typical option of table or booth. We chose booth as always if there's one available. We had chips and dip on the table within a couple of minutes. The chips were ever so slightly overcooked, but not quite to the point of tasting burned. I'm curious if the chips are fried in-house. They seemed to be. The salsa was average - not too hot, not too mild. We ordered a variety of food, like 8 different food items. They all had a good taste and presentation. One thing that particularly stuck out to me is that when I tilted my taco sideways to take a bite, grease didn't pour out of the other end and the shell wasn't soggy. Thank you for draining the meat before putting it into the taco. Please keep doing this. It was a little pricey. Around $50 for two entrees and two cokes. Make it $60 after tipping Angela and it's not the cheapest place in town for two people to go. The noise level was high. The people at the bar were being very loud. Some sort of divider or some way to help keep the noise confined to the bar area would be nice. We couldn't even talk to each other at times because of the noise from the bar. After a long dry spell we caved into our Mexican food cravings.Arriving just before the dinner rush we were quickly seated and an older, seasoned waiter took our drink order. Chips and salsa quickly followed. We ordered and hot food soon arrived. I had ordered a side order of a CRISPY TACO. Like all of our dishes, it was well filled , but it was ANYTHING but CRISPY. It was as soggy a a piece of bread soaking in a glass of milk! The older, seasoned waiter asked how the food was. I responded, holding up the dripping , drooping taco carcass,"Everything is great, except for the soggy, not crunchy taco. He nodded and walked off. Any Mexican restaurant that cannot deliver crunchy tacos to your table is backsliding. A true test if we return will be to order one crunchy taco. 09/17/24 3:30 p.m. When I was seated, I had to flag the server down to wipe the table. I asked the server (with a language barrier) if I could get a crispy taco with fajita beef. I asked how much extra? He said that he would have to ask. He left, came back, first said that he didn't know, then started guessing and said $5 extra. I told him that doesn't make sense. He kept flipping the menu back to a taco salad with fajita beef for $16.99 Since I couldn't get a clear answer about the crispy taco with fajita beef, I ordered the taco salad w/fajita beef, which was a very small salad. I wanted a tea refill but he was no where to be found. He finally came back and asked did I need anything. I was frustrated and just wanted to leave. This place is expensive, has small portions and horrible service. They need to educate staff for better customer service. I will never return again. read more

For my meal I ordered the triple trio fajitas, beef and chicken fajitas w/ shrimp, beef fajitas were ok and shrimp was good but the chicken tasted like it sits in hot water to stay moist. Charro beans were excellent!! Rice meh. I live in south texas and there is a LAW for Mexican restaurants, HOMEMADE TORTILLAS, this place doesn't have them. We arrived at 4:55 and got seated immediately. The dining room was humid. Our server Brian, was not personable and refused to smile. Although he was attentive. I ordered a sangria swirl. And received a $10 globe of berry cool aid garnish with fresh orange. It wasn't good. And it wasn't a swirl. The menu is extensive. Lot to choose from. I have a small appetite so I stuck with the a la cart menu and ordered one stuffed poblano and one guac taco. $6. The meal arrived very quickly. But..They sent out a regular taco making the second mistake in my short order. I asked for my guac tac. And received it in about 10 seconds. So now I'm pretty sure that the food is sitting in large vats under giant heat lamps. And still our server refuses to smile. Because the beef taco was already on my plate I decided to try it. The beef was grainy. And unpleasant. Do I have anything nice to say? Well, there was a red sauce on the plate that was delicious. If I had a Mexican biscuit I'd have sopped it up. It was really good. Disappointing dinner. Wife picked up to go tonight after a long day at the hospital. She got the chicken with grilled vegetables (can't remember name) and a chicken quesadilla How you mess up either is beyond me. The chicken with grilled veggies was absolutely terrible--paper thin, rubbery/not fully cooked, and covered with some kind of watery sauce that tasted good, but was just, well, water. The quesadilla chicken was cooked well but the quesadilla itself wasn't grilled long enough for the cheese to sear the sides of teh tortilla, so it was a soggy mess. We tried to call them to exchange our food or something but no one answered--I guess they'd closed by 10:30. So thirty five bucks down the drain. The one and only reason this got two stars is because the green beans and veggetables were the only parts of the dinner that were edible. read more

I really enjoyed my Chili Relleno dinner. It was a cheese relleno and I wasn't able to substitute the cheese for anything so I added fajitas steak on top which was really good. What I enjoyed the most was the beans that came with the meal! It had sausage, bacon, diced tomatoes, and bits of spinach in it. If you call this txmex then I'm not from New Mexico lived my the ElPaso boarder. I had the speedy gonzales the cheese all tasted like pasteurize cheese. That is a horrible taste to me. We just had an old bitch get in my husbands face after she stood in front of our car and threatened to slap him across the face in the restaurant, and they did absolutely nothing but stand there. I was searching for somewhere new to dine and discovered El Paso Mexican Grill. The atmosphere and the people are great. Right off the bat I was offered alcohol lol (I don't drink)! They have about 100 items on the menu! However, my waiter was so nice and accommodating, he picked for me the perfect dish according to my dietary restrictions. I had #42, the Pollo Asado and sopapillas for dessert. Everything was great. I have pictures but I kept forgetting to snap the food BEFORE I would start eating. Was recommended here by a coworker as I'm new in town. I got a steak burrito and it was pretty good. My biggest issue was the price; I paid $18 after tax for just the burrito. Gotta knock out down a star unfortunately. Have been back several times since the last review and for the most part, any food I've gotten has been pretty good. Exception being shrimp which is always rubbery. The star loss is for service and for lack of some pretty basic issues that scream cheapness. In fact, the service issues may also be due to cheapness. In the last three visits I've had, at no time did the server offer to refill my water or beverage. I've had to practically beg. Another cheap point of contention is the tiny carafe of salsa that is supposed to be enough for a table of four people, and good luck getting more. The final straw for me has been the fajitas, which I only recently tried. How in the world are you going to serve a beautiful, heaping platter of meat and veggies and provide a small aluminum foil wrapper filled with three tortillas. THREE. That's insulting when you're paying 17 bucks for a meal. And as a final annoyance, you don't even get cheese with the sides... just a meager half dollop of sour cream and guacamole and a spoonful of Pico. The rest of the plate is filled with rice and sub par refried beans. These little issues just add up-- three Tortillas, no drink for half the meal, and just a general feeling you're not wanted really leaves a bad taste in your mouth, no matter how good the food is. read more
