I love this little find. I've been here a couple of times on taco tuesday for their taco specials at $1.50. You really can't beat it. Today I got to try their fish specials which are $2.50/taco. Soo reasonable and they have a daily special. I also enjoy their pineapple aqua fresca which is always a hit. They also give you a small basket of chips/salsa per order which is really nice. So many of these little mom&pop places make you buy chips. They give it to you complementary. Great little place. Give them a try!!

El Picosito. They have a few locations and I been super excited to try them. Taco Tuesday prices are great 1.50 per taco. 5 dollar house margaritas. They got specials on Monday and Wednesday 2.50 fish tacos also Got 5 tacos. Carne asada. Fish. Al pastor and chicken I needed more seasoning. Feel like they held back on flavoring. Only red salsa. No char flavor. Good price but I had way better tacos that I would happily pay more for

As soon as we walked in we were met with a pleasant greeting. It only got better. I've been wanting to come to this taqueria in the heart of El Modena for a long time. I often shop at La Carreta and drive by it all the time. The reviews are great so I finally pulled the trigger on National Taco Day! So tacos is what we had and they've got the meats. Between us we tried 5 different tacos and they were all solid. The carnitas seemed like roasted meat and had great flavor. The star for me was the lengua. The flavor was so deep! This is an order at the counter and they bring it to the table place. They have an extensive menu beyond just tacos. I plan to be back soon to explore it.

Pretty solid spot! I do wish our food came out a little bit hotter, some stuff seemed "barely warm". Would also love more cilantro + onions! Quality overall was great though. $33 for the following (w/ half a bnc burrito leftover) Carne asada burrito light rice Chicken taco Cabeza taco Al pastor taco Potato hard shell taco Bean and cheese burrito Large horchata Carne asada burrito 4/5 $10 nicely marinaded and the carne asada is cut into larger chunks. Prolly my fav carne asada for sit down casual restaurant. Burrito itself wasn't too big, but the taste was there and bae finished it. Horchata 4/5 the end notes hit you with a strong cinnamon flavor that makes up for the slightly lack of creaminess. Not too sweet and is refreshing in a way. Tortilla chips 4/5 are thin and they offer it complimentary when you sit down. It's topped with beans and some cheese. Potato taco 4/5 $2.45/1 iirc Pretty big, one is nice to share between two people. Cabeza taco 4/5 Tender and not gamey. Safe choice! Al pastor taco 3.5/5 is tasty with bits of fat here and there, but it isn't my fav. Would like a bit more char on the edges. Bean and cheese burrito $5-6 Idr 3/5 I liked it, but I prefer either the cheese to be saltier or the beans to have more oomph to them. Prolly wouldn't get this again. Chicken taco 2/5 Got it for health but this was quite lackluster, very eh tasting lol but tender Service Was fine, the lady in the front offered recommendations when we asked and the younger girl cleaning up was very friendly.

My parents live down the street and the local tattoo shop facing Chapman (Baron Tattoo) shares the same plaza and parking lot along with the La Caretta grocery store. We went as a family and were surprised that Taco Tuesday for $1.50 each taco is on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And their fish tacos for $2.50 are Mondays and Wednesdays, we'll definitely come back although the wait was around 20 minutes for 12 tacos. There's a decent amount of tables for families and couples and the handful of TVs streaming sports and the cheap beer and margaritas available at their bar is worth the visit. Plenty of families were enjoying their meals and their servers are friendly and attentive at bussing the tables.

Start cleaning out underneath your table pushing you out as fast as they can. The bar just closes down not even announcing a last call. And what is with those awful margaritas. I can't believe that a Michelin feathered Mexican restaurant can serve such awful margaritas. And I am not alone as I mentioned it to another Restaurant crowd and they agreed and said they were probably the worst margaritas in Orange. I don't know whether it's the mix or the amount of alcohol or what it is but they come out watery and really sour. A totally good dining experience has to encompass everything, food is only 50% of the deal the other 50% is service with a smile, and this one lacks it. Now there could be a reason for this epic shutdown at 9 PM. But I wonder what it is? Santa Monica seafood in Santa Monica on Wilshire Boulevard has to have last orders in by 8:30 because if they are not closed out by 10 o'clock entirely, the neighbors complain that they are putting out trash and making a noise after 10 so that I understand. But it took me a year to find that out from the owners. Restaurant owners are so stuck up and anal, I know I was one. Gabbi, whom I have never seen, should spend a night or two watching her Restaurant closing up.

The beans did not taste watered down, and the enchiladas themselves were flavorful. I always worry about shrimp overpowering the sides of a dish but it tasted great. The rice was also really filling. We had a reservation and they seated us at a pretty big table, which I liked. The servers were very timely, kind, and knowledgeable about each dish on the menu and the rotating specials. The inside of the restaurant was HUGE. I'm pretty sure it was built inside of a church. I really liked the stained glass and elevated seating areas nearby, it reminded me of the Old Spaghetti Factory layout in Fullerton. Overall, I had a very positive experience. I had to get a Diet Coke and of course, it was crisp to my expectations. A little heads-up, unlike the Costa Mesa location, they do not have horchata. But once again one has this perfunctory service, that is service that is merely to get through a night and not to enhance a dining experience. So many restaurants now seem to have the same problem, that is servers who just want to get through the evening and get it over with. The service industry has really taken a dive since my day. I don't get it. Don't they get paid more than they used to just a year or two ago. Anyway, I do enjoy the Camerones. But, the dreadful flan that I was served. This is such a basic desert and very easy to make, but one can overcook the egg proteins easily and the whole thing is grainy, scrambled and not pleasant to eat. Basically it should be cooked in a Bain Marie. Probably a lost art. Avila's has several locations and one may differ from another. The one I ate at is in Orange.

The carnitas themselves are the star--tender, juicy pork that's been slow-cooked to perfection with that signature crispy edge on some pieces, delivering rich, savory flavor without being overly greasy. It's seasoned just right, with a nice balance of porky goodness and subtle spices that let the meat shine. Wrapped in a large, fresh flour tortilla (they make their own in-house, which always helps), it's stuffed generously with the classics: fluffy Mexican rice, creamy refried or whole beans (depending on your preference, but both work great), chopped onions, cilantro, and a solid dose of salsa. I went with their green salsa for a bright, tangy kick that cuts through the richness perfectly, plus a dollop of sour cream and cheese for that creamy melt. No skimping on portions here--it's hearty and filling, easily a meal that satisfies for hours. At around $10 (give or take, based on current pricing), it's a great value in the area. The burrito holds together well without falling apart mid-bite, and the overall balance of textures--tender meat, soft rice/beans, crisp onions--makes every mouthful enjoyable. If you're in the mood for classic carnitas done right in a casual, bakery-taqueria spot with great salsas and a friendly vibe, this one's definitely worth grabbing. I'd rate it 4.5 out of 5--only docking half a point because it's not reinventing the wheel, but it's executing the traditional style exceptionally well. Highly recommend if you're near 728 N Tustin St in Orange! Pair it with an horchata, yum
