I ordered 2 breakfast burritos (1 ham and 1 bacon) to go from this place. The burritos themselves have a lot of flavor with complements of ham, hashbrown, protein, and cheese. The size is great and coupled with the delicious salsa, you have a great breakfast in your hand -not to mention they gave us chips. The only downside I would say is that the burrito is very oily.... Perfect size of savory stuffed burritos with your choice of chorizo, ham, bacon or sausage stuffed with hash browns beans salsa and everything else that makes it delicious. Price is just right, it's nice inside, they are quick with togos, and the staff is very friendly. Today we came for lunch, I had the chicken enchiladas $13 (44) and those were bomb even came with beans, rice and side salad. Reminds me of like a bento box but Mexican style. My husband had a burrito which was stuffed with French fries and carne asada and all the goods. When you dine in, they bring you complimentary warm chips topped with beans and cotija cheese. I love this little find. I've been here a couple of times on taco tuesday for their taco specials at $1.50. You really can't beat it. Today I got to try their fish specials which are $2.50/taco. Soo reasonable and they have a daily special. I also enjoy their pineapple aqua fresca which is always a hit. They also give you a small basket of chips/salsa per order which is really nice. As soon as we walked in we were met with a pleasant greeting. It only got better. I've been wanting to come to this taqueria in the heart of El Modena for a long time. I often shop at La Carreta and drive by it all the time. The reviews are great so I finally pulled the trigger on National Taco Day! So tacos is what we had and they've got the meats. Between us we tried 5 different tacos and they were all solid. The carnitas seemed like roasted meat and had great flavor. The star for me was the lengua. The flavor was so deep! My parents live down the street and the local tattoo shop facing Chapman (Baron Tattoo) shares the same plaza and parking lot along with the La Caretta grocery store. We went as a family and were surprised that Taco Tuesday for $1.50 each taco is on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And their fish tacos for $2.50 are Mondays and Wednesdays, we'll definitely come back although the wait was around 20 minutes for 12 tacos. There's a decent amount of tables for families and couples and the handful of TVs streaming sports and the cheap beer and margaritas available at their bar is worth the visit. The quality is always consistent and the food is fresh, tasty, without feeling too heavy or greasy. They also offer a wide variety of options and large portions. Their refried beans and the bright red salsa that comes with the free chips are AMAZING. Also their breakfast burrito is one of the best I've ever had. We even order catering from here when we're hosting for the holidays and our friends love it too. Although we usually do takeout the set up is very clean and well designed, and they even serve alcohol and show sporting events if you want to dine in. We tried the basic molcajete and some tacos (carnitas, pastor and lengua). All had great flavor, but I was disappointed with the pastor. It tasted more like asada, or was overcooked, but still good. Very authentic Mexican food. Chips with beans for starters too. Were helped by a young lady, I believe she said her name was Betsy. I'm sorry if I got that wrong, but she was very attentive and a great server. They have Tues/Thurs taco specials.
