The food is decent. We've had a good meal or two here. The service however is ALWAYS an issue. You always have to wait for service. There are always three or four staff up by the bar/kitchen area doing something, but they never see you. You wait for water when you arrive. Again the food is moderately decent, nothing to write home about, but decent. One more consideration, chips and salsa are per unit. So, if the 2oz bowl they serve when you arrive doesn't last u til they get your drinks, come back for the food order and then bring the food then Plan to pay for each one. Absolutely a fantastic. I never have deserts, but the Burrito was so good I passed on the second Margarita so I felt less guilty about saving the sugar intake -so I could try desert. That was a hard decision because it was excellent, a hint of Midori maybe? This burrito- Steak with Chorizo covered in white cheese sauce - which was actually blended with Jalapeños...so delicious. It's Cinco de Mayo, we were expecting it to be busy, so we went about 2:30. Perfect timing we chose to sit at the bar, however we waiting about 8-10 minutes just to be acknowledged by a hostess when we first got there. The girls behind the bar were fabulous! However, they were actually employees, they were just hired for tonight, they took great care of us, but it was very evident they did not know what to do, what food they had, they really couldn't answer many questions. We had chips and salad ( free your first one) and guacamole, then I had enchiladas supreme and my boyfriend has a chicken quesadilla, and the food was great! Went there for lunch today (11/20/2022). A child in our group got chicken tenders, and they were served essentially raw. If you get chicken here, I recommend checking to make sure they haven't served it raw. They comped the meal (after I told them they needed to), but we will not be back. read more

Was recommended to come here from a friend. Very fast service!! Hardly a wait to be seated, food order, delivered food, and check. The waiter Pablo was EXTREMELY pleasant and fast. 3.0 Stars I was driving from Baltimore to Upstate New York and decided to stop here for dinner since I was craving Mexican food. Overall the food was mediocre especially compared to the Mexican food I'm used to getting in California. Between my wife and I, we got: Carne asada tacos ($10.89) which had a good portion of meat, but came wrapped in foil (like it was take out) which was an odd presentation. I asked for a side of guacamole which was disgusting and tasted like it was out of a pre-made instant taco set. If you want guacamole, order the "Fresh Guacamole" from the appetizer section instead which looked huge and much better than the side of Guacamole I got. Molcajete ($11.79) which came in a pipping hot stone bowl (think mortar and pestle). It was a beef stew that was delicious and very flavorful. Overall, the food was okay. The service was friendly. Sad to report that El Rodeo - which, for many years was a favorite - has been letting me down lately. One of my favorite things there is to order guacamole for the chips. Tonight, no chips and salsa, even after the server said she'd send some. Entree was not the piping hot it used to be, and, worst of all, it was remarkably bland. Ground beef tasted unseasoned. I did tell the server it was not good, and she said "sorry". And that was the end of it. I ate it because I was hungry, but had anyone checked with me after a few bites, I may have sent it back. I figured I'd tell the cashier how disappointed I was, but just me trying to pay felt like and imposition, so I'm telling you instead. Recently there's been disinterested staff, no friendly greeting at the door, no drink refills, no "thank you" from the cashier. El Rodeo is located off of Route 30 and isn't exactly a looker when it comes to aesthetics; however, they have ample parking and it is easy to go in to get seats. Aesthetics really don't apply when it comes to food, and on that topic, the food is really good! The service is really quick and the waitresses are extremely attentive. It is very easy to go in, order, get your food, and then leave. Overall, the food is fantastic, the only thing holding El Rodeo back from me given them a 5 is that they aren't very polished. El Rodeo's ambiance is very upbeat. They play Mexican traditional music, which does not add to the volume of the restaurant. I would say that it is a medium loudness. Along with this, the overall color of the room is brightly colored. I would definitely recommend anyone to stop by El Rodeo, as long as you don't judge a restaurant by its appearance. What's inside trumps the negatives ten fold. El Rodeo is a unique and fun place and I really don't have that many bad things to say. read more

Been here a few times and the food is consistently good and service OK. But we were a bit disappointed when we recently tried them for takeout. The food was prepared quickly, although there was some confusion about which items were ours when we arrived and the cashier seemed annoyed to have to deal with takeout orders. The food was decent and still warm enough when we got home. But they've become very stingy with the tortilla chips and salsa! They provide you with a free small brown paper bag of chips--about 7 or 8 chips--not even half what you get in the basket when you dine in. Want more? You can pay $1.50 for another tiny bag or a whopping $8 for a regular-sized bag with a cup of salsa! Next time we'll probably just stick with Chili's for takeout. Food ready in 20 minutes and you can get a big bag of tortilla chips and two tubs of their tasty fresh salsa for $3. read more

I had a yummy Burrito Verde. It was loaded with fresh carnitas (shredded pork) and a little rice with cheese melted on top. The side was lots of iceberg lettuce and a big heap of fresh sour cream. I would have like a little refried beans instead of the lettuce. Interior of restaurant is fun with wood carvings of wildlife on the chairs etc. Very colorful. Extremely rude. I used to come a few times a month for lunch. Empty, service has been extremely slow. Did a pick up DoorDash order to use a promo. Not a driver but customer. They were about to make me go outside for 2 desserts. Then they walked away, someone else came and said next time I need you to go outside around back. Not sure why all the "mediocre" reviews. But I had a pleasant experience here. I live in California where Mexican food is plentiful and authentic so I wasn't sure what to expect from El Rodeo. When you walk inside, you definitely get the "traditional" Mexican ambiance, similar to an "El Torito" in California. The service was friendly and professional. The chips and salsa were really flavorful and helped satiate my hunger. I ordered the chicken tortilla salad - the lettuce could have been more fresh, but overall it was pretty tasty and somewhat healthy. This is my family's favorite restaurant and definitely in my top 3! We always have a great time here and it's our go to for birthdays, parties, and anniversaries. It has great authentic Mexican food and the kindest waitresses. I am hispanic, so it's always fun to be able to talk and order in Spanish. I have gotten the chips and salsa, guacamole, grilled cheese, chicken tamales, taco salad, fajitas, vegetarian quesadillas, enchiladas verdes, and fried ice cream. I'm docking a star because I've tried so many things and none have become a favorite, but the chicken tamales are probably the best so far. The sizes are generous and well priced. I dont know what the cheese is they put on everything but gosh is it good. This was the first time eating here. My son wanted to eat at another Mexican restaurant I am less fond of and I suggested El Rodeo. They are also on the Get Upside App so you get some money back. The service was fast and we got our food quickly. You get your first bowl of chips and salsa free but you pay for more. First time I saw that. The salsa was somewhat bitter and thin but never the less my son and I tore it up. We like thicker salsa. I had the hard shell beef taco, the beef burrito, rice and refried beans. It was delicious. My son had the open burrito bowl. It didn't look like the picture but he wolfed it down. (Full disclosure, we had spent the day moving a family member into a new place and my son is 16 and lives in the gym.) My daughter and I had churros for dessert and I had a coffee. The churros were good and my coffee came in a mug. Bigger than expected. My son ordered the Especial de Mexico to go. He did not like that as much as the open burrito bowl.
